Both Tom Welling and Brandon Routh do justice to the Superman legacy IMO. I don't see anything from either of the two guys that detracts/disrespects from who Superman is, and I'm a picky fan when it comes to these things. If that labels me as a dumbass, then fine, but I say this as a fan and as someone who has seen both Smallville and Returns. Both guys do justice to the character (albeit in their own way).

Routh also had the bad luck of coming along when this generation already had a Superman in Tom Welling who is by far the better actor of the two, and who's more in the collective minds as this gen Superman so Routh was doomed from the start.

Annette O'Toole who plays Martha Kent on Smallville, played Clark's (Christopher Reeve) sweetheart, Lana Lang in Superman 3!! AND, Margot Kidder (Lois Lane in Reeve's Superman Movies.) Guest starred on Smallville as Bridget Crosby! AND, Helen Slater who was Supergirl back in the 80's came onto Smallville too play Clark's real mother, Laura!
John Haymes would of been a great 90's Superman. It's a shame Warners could'nt get there act together then.
