Instead of defending Calvinism, you should be preaching the gospel to the entire world, since God loves all of the people therein, and desires all of them to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth. I am not of Paul, Calvin or Arminius, but of Christ, and Calvinism insults the cross and the sacrifice thereon by limiting the power of Jesus to save only those who get lucky enough to be chosen. Jesus is almighty, and can save all mankind, but He chooses to save those who come to Him.
I think we must show compassion to brothers who are whith a different doctrine, like the issue calvinism-armianism,because among arminians are truly christians, and in calvinism are people who are not born again.
Who are these people you speak of? John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim's Progress? that book played a huge role in my childhood btw, or John Newton? songwriter of "Amazing Grace" I'm almost certain it is still sung in most churches. But, um yeh who are these calvinists that you condemn as heretics?
Now, I can name one that comes to mind, Anne Hutchinson, who beleived in 'free grace' which is a preversion of 'perserverance of the saints.' i like to call it 'perversion of the saints', but its commonly known as hyper-calvinism. The idea that 'once saved, always saved' is a license to sin. Nevertheless, it was also calvinists like John Cotton, and Winthrop, who did not hestitate to call this youg lady out on her heresy.
So, to show you I am being fair I dont deny that there have been a few bad apples. Howevr, no man-made theology satisfies every verse in the Bible, yes, not even calvinism. To deny God ordains everything, is to deny verses like Lam.3:37To deny man freely chooses, is to deny verses likes Acts16:30-31. If you take the Bible in its whole, you get "God ordains that which men freely choose." Now, you can call it Augustianism, Clavinism, but verily, verily, I call it Biblical. =)
This person isn't Arminian as I've had a conversation with him before, in which he said: I would not want to be associated with Arminianism because they have the wrong view of atonement. I can provide other quotes as well. Arminians don't believe that man's free will is autonomous or absolutely free, Wesley actually held that God can overwhelm the will in order to accomplish His purposes. Spurgeon was dealing with a vulgarized version of Arminianism, we aren't born with an innate free will. ~7
He asks God to open the eyes of Calvinists to see and believe the truth when the very disagreement that Calvinists and Arminians have is whether or not God causes people to see and believe the truth about the gospel.
Maybe he ended up praying for himself... and it was granted.
Excellent, excellent job on this video! A wonderful pointing out of the double standards so many Arminians never give a second thought about. Great work!
God never called us to defend Calvinism. We are to earnestly content for the faith, and making fun of a Christian who is praying for your eyes to be open, is nothing but demeaning, and is reflective of your disdain for prayer.
Railing on a brother, by randomly selecting prayerful segments of a video, posting it, and mocking it, is hardly edifying, nor is there any attempt to present a saving gospel in this video.
My question to the party who produced is, if you were to die today, where would you be, and how would you get there?
Sorry, but I disagree with your assessment. LOLFunny687 can be condescending at times. He seems to think that our eyes and ears have been closed to the Truth, but the exact opposite is true. Those of us whom the Lord has shown us the Truth in Scripture also do not disdain prayer. Think of the videos we've done where we've exhorted others to pray for our brethren.
I hate to bring this up, but you even commented on my video on praying for a dear sister in Christ.
kloudes, yes God is love. If he was not, them God would wipe every unbeliever the very moment they sinned. He loves unbelievers in a sense that he gives them many blessings and does not bring them to judgment in an instant . Like us, God has the freedom to love some more than others
"What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— "
Kloudes don't worry we love you we are just amused at the inconsistencies of your Theology. God is a God of Love but is also a God of wrath and Calvinist have simply accepted Gods sovereignty. There is no scripture in the bible we shy away from we accept it all. :)
i saw that spurgeon quote in the Amazing Grace: the history of calvinism dvd tonight. im about 1/2 through with a friend and we think that its an awesome dvd so far! y'all should score it some how.

@zmode82 more specifically, God ordained that man would have a choice...

In bad interpretation of calvinism there are many heretics , but what i meant is among those who accept the doctrines , but still don't born again.

is this video a good testimony for our faith before the wicked ?.

It is one of only two ways, man either controls God's will or God controls man's will.

LOLfunny,
What does the word "author" mean?
After you answer the above question, answer the next;
Who is the author of your faith.

I would be in the presence of the LORD, not because of what I did, but because of what He has done.

You fail to see the point of the video. Is his prayer not inconsistant with his theology?

cat, yes people make choices, but sin influences the way they make choices.

What is up with you guys?
There IS such a thing as a non-Arminian, non-Calvinist, Christian.
The only class this video has is in the flower at the beginning of the video. It doesn't justify the content that follows...
You guys really worry me.
I mean how far does one have to go to believe in this sick stuff ???
And people wonder why the unsaved choose evolution. Who'd want to choose this ?!

God is Sovereign,
seems biblical to me.

If God is supposed to be Love, like everyone says, then why didn't He just make only people that would be saved? Since He's Sovereign.
And just send the demons to Hell...
Sounds like a god of hate to me...
Sounds like Satan. If he could create things, that is.
