this is hand timed. all combine times are FAT (fully automated timing). this removes all human error which can be anywhere from .1-.25 secs. seeing as how he got a rolling start, id say in this instance the time is off by around .2 seconds. 3.95. thats blazing fast, but not improbable for a world class track and field athlete. after gatlin's doping ban, he tried out for the miami dolphins and purportedly ran 3.96. i'd say that 3.75 hand time is believeable

I played football in college, and we had a national championship track team that year. We were messing around playing flag football with a lot of the sprinters. I'm very quick, but I'm not fast. I burned one of the sprinters deep because I had better quickness and acceleration. But he'd kill me in a 100 m dash.

Mike Rodgers has run under 4. Bolt's first 40 has been timed at 3.9, Tyson Gay's first 40's have been timed even faster and all of those examples are from a track start, meaning the gun tells you when to go, which would make it slower. Walter Dix could run under 4 easy, with a football start.

Trindon Holliday ran for LSU, now a WR for Houston, clocked 4.27 - only .03 slower than CJ. His best 100m was only 10.00 (+0.3) - nearly half a second slower than a guy like bolt and still .12 slower than Dix's best.

It would be a good race, but no way does a Olympic medal caliber track athlete lose to a football player.
