personally i think OL spoil the game to a degree. with all those extra artifact slots it was way too easy to become superman. i had only just got to X18 (did a few sidequests too) and my shitload of artifacts had already made me immune to radiation, unlimited endurance and nigh impossible to bleed.
couple that with an F2000, VSS (handily available at freedom's base) and armoured duty enviro-suit thingy and i was unstoppable. i loved stalker for it's challanging aspects, OL kinda spoilt them.
The Vintorez Sniper is at Freedom's base in vanilla.
Besides, I was immune to bleeding, radiation and practically immune to bullets of any caliber in vanilla as it was. OL is there for those that have completed the game. Besides, it's the one mod that adds weapons and doesn't fuck them up with shitty scopes. The only problem is the atrocious translations. "What do you look at me as the innocent baby?"
i know it is, but in the vanilla there was a degree of skill involved by calculating bullet drop etc. OL as long as you're prone you have ridiculous range, awesome stopping power, large magazines and perfect accuracy. no challenge at all.
when i played the vanilla i was only ever immune to radiation (mainly due to the SEVA suit). with double the artifact slots and those handy new multiple atribute artifacts you dont need to choose artifacts carefully.
in many ways i think OL is an improvement, the ballistics are overall better, the iron sights are actually usefull, blowouts are a cool addition, new weapons etc. i just think it gave the player a bit TOO much power too soon. do a few subquests and you can fairly early on have all the best equipment in the game before even reaching X18, i just feel this spoils the challenging difficulty curve and sense of vulnerability that made me love STALKER so much
It's hard to get into, but when you start thinking in gunfights (leaning round corners and such) It's a beautiful game. A bit buggy but there's a reason so many people go ga-ga over it. Give it a chance and you'll learn to love this game. It's on steam right now and it's pretty darn cheap.
A HELL of a lot better. Fallout 3 is more intuitive for newcomers, with all its tutorials and easy-going intro, but STALKER is for real FPS fans. It's also got one of the subtlest, yet most enthralling storyline I've ever come across in a game. (Baldur's Gate having the best plot ever.)
I removed it because I said something that wasn't true. I thought the video was going to show something scary so I said put that in the description. I also said that when I was watching this video there was a thunder storm going on here as well as in the video.
Anyways, did you like make the Night Vision & Stars yourself or something?
Is it always raining like that? Because it is really too much...

Unfortunately, no.
OL is more of a mix things up compilation of mods, the downside being the translation.
Complete is mainly vanilla v2.0
I prefer OL in the end due to all the added guns.

Like I said: It's there for those who're done with vanilla. Besides, OL increased the difficulty in a lot of ways. Apache helicopters and such...
It doesn't ruin the game; it simply adds to it. There's not much reason to play through vanilla twice, because you'll have seen virtually everything.

oh, i agree about the replaying part.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl. It's a great game if you ignore the prequel, Clear Sky.

No. It comes with the stalker mod "STALKER COMPLETE 2009" which is basically the modder's preferred choice of mods.
