Walking the line is a big part of montessori. It improves their balance their motor skill, sense of order among many other things. In this video she was just using the math materials as an example of what you could carry.
You could also use a bell, try to get them to make sure the bell doesnt ring. or balance a book on their head, carry a glass of water without spilling ect. Its great group work esp if its just one of those days that nothing seems to go right.
what a stupid, stupid activity. I can't believe parents are talked into paying to having their children taught in this way. they are being FOOLED! its only because the Montessori'ists market it in a way that makes it 'seem' as though it will have a positive effect on the child's learning. I don't even have the patience to watch the whole video, let alone the children having the concentration span to take part in it. GAY.

Do you do the same with the other children who were watcdhing or is it just one child? I mean do they take turns?
