Christopher Hitchens can not disprove a god exist. That's a fact. But this pansy with the glasses can't prove their is a god. I can neither prove or disprove there is a god
@DoubleR2591 Yep.. but Christopher Hitchens uses logic and scientific thinking to come to conclusions. The other guy uses prejudice and biased based opinions, which most likely stem from a childhood of indoctrination.
@zemlamusic Isn't that how most people are? They were indoctrinated as children to believe this? Though I believe in god, I just don't take the Christian perspective that Jesus is god. There is a video of George Carlin that said children should question what they are told. I thought he was dead on
Actually, current knowledge of physic disproves existence of god in our universe.
Even if god does exist somewhere outside he is incapable to interact with our universe because laws of physic do not allow such interactions without complete recreation of whole universe.
I personally do not believe in any gods or supernatural claims.

@BlankPicketSign I believe god exist or a supreme being. However, I will fully admit I'm not 100% sure of it. I would say about 75% certain there is a god, but not entirely. And like he said, you can not prove nor disprove the existance of a god, gods, godesses.

Did he say "I'd give to you what you desire" at the very end? What an unspeakable, diluted, bag of fuck that man is. Religion is destroying so much. There is still so much human potential to be unlocked and this religious bullshit is accomplishing nothing but separating humanity, diminishing the minds of billions, and acting as a totalitarian force, a tool for the masters of this world to oppress those billions. Stupid, ignorant, and fearful people are easy to control and sap.
@Thisnamewasnotaken No. He said "God gives you what you desire," since Hitchens has just celebrated the truth of his own mortality. . . This is the time-honored manner of the sanctimonious to wish someone to drop dead but to wash his hands of culpability for such a wish by using God as his attack dog.
religion is for loosers who are afraid of the truth, enjoy life while its here and dont waste it worring about some god that dosent exist. i llive a good life and have morals and treat people with respect because i know its the right thing to do,not because im afraid of some god that will punish me if i dont, which is a far more noble pursuit.
I bet they told the religious subspecies: "who wants to have debate with an atheist?" they all went "I will do it!" "Ok you are up against Christopher Hitchens." "............. Oh..... erm..... I can't actually I have to feed Jesus's cat."
Oh. Was it 'deserve' or 'desire'? Either way, the statement is ridiculous. Honestly. God actually giving someone what they desire or intervening at all is laughable. And it's still shitty of him to not conduct himself with some composure during a debate. Even if he is getting trounced.
What a shitty little man Hitchens has for an opponent here. Really, that ending? "God gives you what you deserve"? How really graceful. I think it shows quite a bit who's on hanging onto the ropes and who's still on their feet in this round.
Turek wasn't expecting this trouncing he got here.....It shows in his manner and his tone. He must be used to delivering this shallow rhetoric, unchallenged, to a friendlier audience, and with no logical challenge?
God spoke to me yesterday and told me not to trust any of the religions in the world because they are all wrong. They haven't got a clue, and the books they have written are terrible misrepresentations of the truth. I'm not kidding - that's what God told me!
I don't know what country you live in, But I live in the United States of America!
And over here, we have something called Freedom of Religion! I am free to practice any faith or belief I choose... Or None At All!
And the Government can not punish me in ANY way for my beliefs.
So if your "god" is so evil, so vile that he would punish me for my Atheism, then he is Un-American and Anti Freedom! And I want NOTHING to do with him/
Lol, have you seen christian mathematics... and reason. Uhm, well if you use our calculations about how many people would be on earth if it was 6 k years with our population growth calculations for that 6 k... then if you plug that into your estimate about how old the world is there is too many people! Fuck sake people are idiots.
@dolerbom The ones I have seen are pretty flawed if you could show me one I would gladly see if it correct. Here is a video debunking at least one of these claims:
@mitchnesbitt Yeah, for all the crying about people being stupid, seeing a couple of these idiots loop around their own nonsense is sometimes just really amusing :P
Yes, Religion is about Power. The brilliance of Jesus though was that his message was not about Power. Most of his teachings is a warning against using religion as a source of power. He understood that religious piety leads to tyranny. What did he demonstrate at the Last Supper. The Son of God gets up from the head of the table, takes off his robe down to his underwear, kneels down and washed his disciples feet.
i love Hitchens and i think he is great. However, it gets to me a wee bit that he usually interrupts peoples points with little comments. Even though i totally agree with him, id like to hear the religious points of view without interruption.

[Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: "We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?"; Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it." — "60 Minutes" (5/12/96)]
Whenever you hear someone say "I feel" or "I believe" as the basis for their arguement, and they don't admit it's a guess or a hope, then they can't be taken seriously.
HAha the guy arguing for god is an aboslute moron. I love when hitchens said "haha i got him to say it" no matte ho is arguing it , the debate of religion vs non religion will always have religion loosing badly
Haha, "God gives you what you desire." And in that moment, all pretense of discussion is gone, all claims to professionalism are burned in the fire of self-righteous, pigheaded, lame-brained, dogmatic moral superiority complexes.
When this Christian guy speaks, it seems he's either giving his personal opinion, claiming "you can't disprove God" (all well and good, but so many other things can we also not disprove), or just quoting out of the Bible.
i am atheist but but but but but,,,,,,,,,, i think if a religion can give someone hope ,faith ,love thats good for the people to follow if they want to ,,,,,, just imagine can u or anyone in this world can give hope to someone who has suffered emotionally and mentally,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,what will give them hope that everything will be all right ???????? ........if it has to come from any religion i think everyone will not mind and we all will agree

@npw350 There is a magical place. A real place, Its called a liquor store. Buy many bottles of booze, get as many hookers as you can. Party like a mad man.
Omar Khayam was almost certainly refuting Sufism. Apparently he was not persecuted as a heretic my the Islamic clergy.Highly recommend the English translation published by Penguin. It's not a eloquent as the Fitzgerald version, but it's remarkable in its own way.
The evidence is there? I hope he means the logical fallacy of inducing god whereever there's a gap is there for anyone to take. Religion is being struck by a serious case of stupidity.
A man so hell-bent on denying accountability to His creator is analogous to the five-year old kid in Wal-Mart, whose mother gets a huge round of applause after she finally pops his little rebellious, arrogant butt when she finally gets enough, as everyone else has had enough. I've never seen a more frustrated, cynical, miserable existence of enslavement to self-sown sorrow and burden, short of meth addiction.
@chriswooten7 On the contrary, it was actually Hitchens' DISTASTE for enslavement that fueled his arguments, reason and logic. In your first sentence alone you assert an unprovable position in saying that he's "denying accountability to his creator". What is your authority for assuming that he's accountable? Or that there's a creator? Even if there is a creator, why do you believe he cares about humans (Deism vs. Theism), etc. Food for thought.....
@TonyRush The fact there's a creator is a position I hold firmly to because I've experienced His person as you've experienced gravity, do you believe it exists? While Christianity may look like enslavement, to the lost, it's actually freedom to enslavement to one's own self-defeating and self-serving nature. Your food holds no substance, as I know my creator. And absolute truth indwelling may frustrate some who refute all they can't eat, drink, touch, or molest, but is obtainable and tangible.
@chriswooten7 Chris, with respect, I don't have a "belief" in gravity. Gravity is proven to exist by objective means whether I believe in it or not. Simply put, the greatest religious minds of all time have not been able to "prove" God exists. Why? Because it's a matter of FAITH. So, it's important to keep the two separate. "Faith is the substance of things HOPED for..." It's not something that you can argue an evidence for.
@TonyRush Personal experience is a powerful thing, as I think no one can deny. It's just that, when it's all said and done, it's like having an inexhaustible supply of trillion dollar checks to give out, and simply want folks to take them to the bank of the One incapable of lying. You're correct about faith, though. I have noticed though, in Biblical times, the word hope didn't carry the essence of unsurety that it does today. It's simply something you're looking forward to.
@TonyRush In the Word, as far as God is concerned, man's denial of His existence is as futile, and it's proven like anything else. Romans 1;20..."r since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
@chriswooten7 Chris, I do understand your point. I do. And it's not my place to invalidate your view. But, surely you see the irony of arguing for the existence of God by starting a post, "In the Word, as far as God is concerned...." You're actually asserting as fact the very thing that you're being asked to prove. :)
natural selection will weed out these moronic ideas in time, gods have come and gone... people cant cope with the idea that death is final, enter the fairytale story = it makes you sleep better at night
HITCH WAS A TRUE FALSE PROPHET and LIAR but he is Correct about Religion being just about POWER. Mostly Hitch was dumb as he CONFUSED God with FALSE Religions of Earth,You must know that Jesus's name was SUBVERTED,PERVERTED by the Churches&Vatican.Don't be fooled by FOOLS;Hitch was a Vatican AGENT Provacetuer, hard at work for SATAN.If Hitch did not repent his VIAL,despicable,EVIL Propaganda that flowed from his SERPENTS tongue then he will BURN in HELL.I hope he did beg God's forgiveness.
well you little piece of ignorant shit ...why don't you go back and listen to what your RACIST lord god hitchens said about people who died ...what's good for the goose is good for the gander... save me your self righteous BS
@914light Why is it wrong to follow the ideas of a man who we think stood up for real morality? And even if we worshiped him, does that mean worshiping people we think is the lord is wrong? You follow a man named Jesus. Look at you hypocrite. You follow everything that your pastor says or your youth leader and religious friends who all interpret the Bible for you. I was religious once, I've read the entire Bible and I know what goes on in church. We don't worship anyone, not even hitch
Furthermore, it acts as a deterrent for proactive behavior, since God will give you happiness regardless, so long as you believe. This paradox that religious "optimism" slows human progress is one that should be made more popular
The last comment that man makes is essentially the mantra of Christian Convenient-ists : "God gives you what you desire". It is the idea that anything you choose to believe is true since you feel that it is. It is the idea that censors the horrors written in the Holy Books, picking only the warm and fuzzy parts.
The only bad thing about Hitchen's videos is having to occasionally listen to the moron speak that always comes from his opponents

AcademicPistol 2 weeks ago 3
Oh. Was it 'deserve' or 'desire'? Either way, the statement is ridiculous. Honestly. God actually giving someone what they desire or intervening at all is laughable. And it's still shitty of him to not conduct himself with some composure during a debate. Even if he is getting trounced.
HufflepunkNya 3 weeks ago
What a shitty little man Hitchens has for an opponent here. Really, that ending? "God gives you what you deserve"? How really graceful. I think it shows quite a bit who's on hanging onto the ropes and who's still on their feet in this round.

Turek wasn't expecting this trouncing he got here.....It shows in his manner and his tone. He must be used to delivering this shallow rhetoric, unchallenged, to a friendlier audience, and with no logical challenge?

Yes, Religion is about Power. The brilliance of Jesus though was that his message was not about Power. Most of his teachings is a warning against using religion as a source of power. He understood that religious piety leads to tyranny. What did he demonstrate at the Last Supper. The Son of God gets up from the head of the table, takes off his robe down to his underwear, kneels down and washed his disciples feet.

Whenever you hear someone say "I feel" or "I believe" as the basis for their arguement, and they don't admit it's a guess or a hope, then they can't be taken seriously.
dm1121ww 1 month ago 2
How is it you use reason for every endeavor of your life, and then when it comes to the ultimate truth say that “faith” is required?
What kind of "GOD" requires "faith" instead of evidence? Faith is the excuse people give for believing in something when they don't have evidence.
The nature of a rational mind does not believe on something if it lacks evidence
A “fictitious god” expects that you believe without evidence
Beliefs are not justified when there is no evidence

Faith and beliefs" are NOT moral attributes.

A man so hell-bent on denying accountability to His creator is analogous to the five-year old kid in Wal-Mart, whose mother gets a huge round of applause after she finally pops his little rebellious, arrogant butt when she finally gets enough, as everyone else has had enough. I've never seen a more frustrated, cynical, miserable existence of enslavement to self-sown sorrow and burden, short of meth addiction.
chriswooten7 2 months ago
@chriswooten7 On the contrary, it was actually Hitchens' DISTASTE for enslavement that fueled his arguments, reason and logic. In your first sentence alone you assert an unprovable position in saying that he's "denying accountability to his creator". What is your authority for assuming that he's accountable? Or that there's a creator? Even if there is a creator, why do you believe he cares about humans (Deism vs. Theism), etc. Food for thought.....
TonyRush 2 months ago
@TonyRush The fact there's a creator is a position I hold firmly to because I've experienced His person as you've experienced gravity, do you believe it exists? While Christianity may look like enslavement, to the lost, it's actually freedom to enslavement to one's own self-defeating and self-serving nature. Your food holds no substance, as I know my creator. And absolute truth indwelling may frustrate some who refute all they can't eat, drink, touch, or molest, but is obtainable and tangible.
chriswooten7 2 months ago
@chriswooten7 Chris, with respect, I don't have a "belief" in gravity. Gravity is proven to exist by objective means whether I believe in it or not. Simply put, the greatest religious minds of all time have not been able to "prove" God exists. Why? Because it's a matter of FAITH. So, it's important to keep the two separate. "Faith is the substance of things HOPED for..." It's not something that you can argue an evidence for.
TonyRush 2 months ago
@TonyRush Personal experience is a powerful thing, as I think no one can deny. It's just that, when it's all said and done, it's like having an inexhaustible supply of trillion dollar checks to give out, and simply want folks to take them to the bank of the One incapable of lying. You're correct about faith, though. I have noticed though, in Biblical times, the word hope didn't carry the essence of unsurety that it does today. It's simply something you're looking forward to.
chriswooten7 2 months ago
@TonyRush In the Word, as far as God is concerned, man's denial of His existence is as futile, and it's proven like anything else. Romans 1;20..."r since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
chriswooten7 2 months ago
@chriswooten7 Chris, I do understand your point. I do. And it's not my place to invalidate your view. But, surely you see the irony of arguing for the existence of God by starting a post, "In the Word, as far as God is concerned...." You're actually asserting as fact the very thing that you're being asked to prove. :)
