  • Very nice and different approach to make the most with color and shapes, result an impressive watecolor painting. I like it a lot.

  • I don't watercolor a lot, but today I had to for a college art class.

I thought the exact same thing as you. "Why can't I use this color? What if I want to use it? Who cares?"

Man, Im glad Im not alone. Taking the class can be dull because they want you to do something a certain way.

Nice vid. Great watching you work.

  • i cant believe that was such a fantastic painting and even a child could have done it hes brilliant

  • Thank you - I need to remember these mantras when I paint! Beautiful work - different from most I've seen - refreshing!

  • that is so CLEAVER!!!

  • WOW !! That's really amazing !! didn't expect it to show up like this in the end !!

Really nice ..i'm inspired ... THx

  • I WANT THAT PAINTING

  • how are your pages prepared? Do you have a video with how you begin with wetting your pages are perhaps they are dry?

  • 7 people didn't let the paint mix on the page.

  • i love the boat painting in the background

btw because of this guy, i dreamed of painting in this bold style lol

  • i am loving the butter knife trick! youre awesome!

  • Yes!

  • I like your style of painting very much! I do love the more precise style of watercolor as well, but this is absolutely GORGEOUS! Very inspiring. Thank you for the video!

  • Très beau travail!

  • cheapjoes, what are you drying your brush off with after you put it in the water?

  • @skaterjoe88 pretty sure it's a sponge

  • Frank I was in a sort of rut with my artwork. I couldn't get anything to turn out well and you pulled me out of the rut with this video. Thank you!

  • That what I call confidence, Art depends of that ingredient along with you personality makes the world go around thanks

  • I think your strength lies in the confidence of the colour masses you paint because I have looked at many channels and find few that inspire me quite so much as this kind of boldness and forward style.

Its good that you post these videos. I simply try to promo Chinese Art in Europe who are incredibly China ignorant, but this is an inspiring zone, and I look at many types pf painting for inspiration, the field always fascinates me in its diversity.

Best wishes and good luck with all this colour.

  • Sir, that was magnificent! You are exceptionally talented!

  • This was fascinating to see. I am quite impressed. it is different to mys tyle but today I thought I would take a look inside someone elses style and materials. It has been quite rewarding.

    Well done indeed. 5 *'s.

  • AMAZING! thanks so much for this video. :D

  • This is what I need-not worry about every brushstroke and resist the urge to "touch up." I don't want to be an "inhibited" artist. I like that you taught about reflection by using bold, abstract shapes. Thanks for the encouragement!

  • Now that's what I call spontaneous!

see painting is not about copying something to the photorealist detail

it's all about expressing one's intepretations of things

sure you might call it childlike daubs..

but I'm afraid to say that childhood is when you are most creative

it is the time where you can express freely without being bound by logic - of how things should look like.

  • @murdoches

    well said

  • Just gorgeous and remarkably instructive. Thank you.

  • childlike daubs? that's your criticism? i'm new to watercolor but he seems very confident and nowhere near childlike. he's carefree and having fun and the result is beautiful. really what's the problem here? i really don't see it.

  • I really like your work, very nice colors.Beautiful!!!

  • I loved it, it really helped me. Thank You

  • Seems only positive comment is allowed on this vid. I posted my honest feelings which I have to say are not favourable in view of the childlike daubs of a less than talented artist and they have been censored twice, what a con.

  • you have some good advice, the only problem is that you can make anything look good (i can't!)

I love how bright and lively your paintings turn out, though!

  • I tried this one. HA HA HA HA. Didn't turn out too well but you have inspired me to keep trying. Thank you

  • awesome!

  • Just an FYI....birch and aspen are two different trees. I have both in my yard, and aspen does not burn well....it's like trying to burn a brick!

  • This artist is amazing. He has that rare gift of genius in painting. I have seen his work, and own a few of his paintings. They are incredible.

What a great instructor, and what a great painter.
