It has been a while since I listened to K D so when I heard her voice on the soundtrack for "Nurse Jackie" my heart LEAPT! It was like hearing the voice of a long lost friend!
K D Lang has the sweetest, purest voice and she puts her heart in every note.
This is such a powerful song. One of those statements that can only be made this powerful through lyrical poetry and music. And kd's arrangement and delivery is superb.
I'm glad this video is being enjoyed by so many, and helping as well. There is no one quite like kd, and seeing a live performance is beyond compare and should not be missed.

The phrasing, the delivery, the orchestration, the arrangement: it's all so very well thought-through and sincere. Such a hidden gem in Jane Siberry's song catalogue (I think I listened to her 1989 album BOUND BY THE BEAUTY for about 6 months non-stop when it came out, like I did ALL her albums.) It's great to see k.d. believes so strongly in this song and loves it so much. It's so obvious in her thoughtful performance here. It's transcendent, and perhaps even definitive.

There's a greeeeat live version of the valley on the "deluxe" edition of watershed...there's a 2nd cd with 4 live songs and a 45 min. interview.
Honestly, her voice is better served by live performance rather than the confines of the recordiong studio.
