  • He had been too close to th SC before the SC twitches. Making an avoiding action to the right is one thing, but why slowed down?? This means, once he saw the SC twitches, he realised that he was too close to rear of the SC, he then slowed down to make a clearance. But he shouldn't brake that hard (plus, it was not the right place to do that!). He may have the talent but he is lack of experience or maybe in this case he is the REAL DAYDREAMER...

  • Feel lonely from that position? He's been totally cleared by the powers that MATTER! There will be NO penalty! It was all totally fair and legal...the book is closed.

  • The safety car nearly lost it...the back obviously twitches...Hamilton had no choice but to take the right side of the curve to avoid it...Vettel was waaaaaaaaaay too close to Webber's whingeing Aussie derriere, and certainly not watching where he was going. Webber and Vettel were both trying to overtake Hamilton on the inside of the bend. And to the poster who claims to be a driver, you should be half as good as Hammy...in your dreams!

  • uhh 10 points

just because he wait a bit longer as i see and they cannot pass him. I think he was not sure if the safetycar can be passed or not .. no see lets see.. anyway scandal let Hamilton alone ... let him win!

I remember about fcb and fcz .. grrr fcz won because a decision to not remove them 2 points. (if there are some Swiss they know about what i speak)

  • ginmarc9 - these are Formula 1 cars - their performance compared to the SC is in another universe - not to mention the reflexes of even your lower grid F1 driver, let alone the championship leading driver. Hamilton has NO EXCUSE for not being able to stay a safe (or rule dictated) 5 car lengths behind it. Let me guess, you're British?

  • British or not...justice has prevailed...no penalty given. Now stop whingeing and get back to the racing...Hamilton IS the best driver on the present circuits, anyone who says otherwise will see the proof pretty darn soon...

  • Hamilton is obviously only concerned with winning, at all costs, as his actions at the Hungarian GP, where he ignored team orders, demonstrated. He should be penalised, it might make him grow up, maybe a penalty will stop him becoming another "sportsman" like Schumacher. One can only hope.

  • So, the SC driver apexes early, runs the kerbs, straight-lines it, heads for the scenery, nearly loses it & slows. Hamilton avoids him, Webber tracks the SC & Vettel, "watching Hamilton" runs into Webber who said Vettel was "day-dreaming". Now they have selective amnesia & say it was all Hamilton's fault. Yeah, right.

  • I don't understand all those who seem to suggest it was Hamilton's intention to knock Webber off. Apparently he was on the radio asking the team to tell Webber to back off. He is a contributing factor to the crash, not the sole cause of it. Why did Vittel felt the need to head straight through the spray and not stagger left and right as all the other did.

  • Pause it after 13 seconds, you'll see the other drivers one inside, one outside, keeping out of the spray of the car immediately in front.

In any case, docking him 10 points would seem very harsh given his role in the incident. I wouldn't expect more than a warning about future conduct, do people really want the title decided because Vittel, hit Webber in the rain behind a safety car?

  • Once again Hammy shows his inexperience and tries to be a smart alec by braking hard when getting near the safety car. He did this on the resume of the 1st safety car period when he backed right up into Nando. Hammy was obviously trying to back the field up by braking hard and hanging out to the right to give himself a better track position. There was no way that Vettel could have avoided Webber, they do not expect stupid childish gamesmanship (o everybody James Allen) from a fellow racer.

  • screw this....dock Hamilton for 10 points....move Heiki and Kimi up one place each.....go Kimi!!!!!

  • With regards to the comment below by antuan1972...it's more to the fact he let the safety car get so far ahead (i.e. MORE than 5 car lengths) as a result of Hamilton braking needlessly and dangerously.

  • 100% agree with you

  • Article 40.10 of F1's Regulations reads: "The safety car shall be used at least until the leader is behind it and all remaining cars are lined up behind him. Once behind the safety car, the race leader must keep within 5 car lengths of it."

5 car lengths... he almost overtook the safety car

  • hamilton is nowhere near webber! how is he at fault? i just don't get it i suppose...

  • Vettel should have stopped

  • Webber slowed down so as not to overtake Hamilton (it's the rule).

Vettel can't see Webber slowing down in that spray!

Conclusion: Hamilton slowed down too much, having thought Webber was far enough behind, so deserves a penalty (even though he probably didn't mean it).

  • hamiltons fault!!
