  • can it be loaded with OSX (hackintosh) or not?

  • Its Dell inspiron mini 9v asshole

  • i found one on ebay for €68.

which is $68 which is something like £49.

  • Is there a built in webcam/speaker?

  • @HelloImQuin yeah you didnt see it

  • when you started Ubuntu : how did you get that taskbar/dock thing on top ?

  • y cant netbooks have cd drives

  • Netbooks dont have built in CD drives cause laptops already do. There are many external USB bus powered drives to add to your netbook however.

  • makes them too thick . u can buy external ones though

  • because of you would look inside one, net books have very very small internal space. Usually the battery takes up the most room, and of course you need the hard drive, etc.

  • Tho I'm a die-hard Dell user (all 3 laptops I've ever bought have been Dells), I just bought the Samsung NC20. Can't believe it. But, for LESS $, you get MORE: more hard memory, infinitely easier-to-upgrade RAM, multi-motion touchpad, 3 in 1 reader, longer 6 cell batt, LESS weight (!), bigger keyboard, identical keyboard layout to my current Inspiron (which is important if you're a key person rather than a big mouse person...like buying a piano that has different key locations).

  • is this going to be available in the us

  • Has it been discontinued on the UK website? Because its not there anymore.

  • errrg i want this laptop so bad...i need some money first...

  • can any body tell me how to DRFRAG this MINI, i own one and was looking @ Porn ( like some guys do) lol, my girlfriend baught it for me and i am getting VIAGRA pop ups and all kinds of anti virus pop ups. I need to degrag it i cant even get my mail its so bad.,can ANYBODY HELP me. I would so appreciate it. Thanks Doug

  • Defrag won't do anything to remove viruses. You need an anti-virus software (AVG is a good free one) and an anti-ad-ware software.

  • I can't choose between the two pls reply =(

Sony Vaio P series or This?

  • I try the p series and is to small

  • P if you have the money

  • the design is truly awesome!!!

  • so excited to get it.!(:

  • y does this come with microsoft works disc and mine has no fucking disk drive

  • keep pushing the disk into the net book and hope to god it goes in somewhere.

  • DAMN! MINI 12 IS SO beautiful!

  • i doubt if the sims 3 would run on this. as for cpu speed and graphics size.

  • i played sims 3 on a 1.6GHz emachines with vista and its smooth.....

  • does anyone know if sims 3 works on it???

  • does this laptop have abuilt in microphone?

  • Is this computer fast? Does it freeze up?

  • As long as you don't load it with a bunch of crap.

  • Comment removed

  • im thinking of buying this. I like to play music, use photoshop, and i also do a lot of work. will this work for me and does it come with word, excel, and powerpoint?

  • yes it does but I suggest a seperate mouse and keyboard usb 2.0

  • so much better than the acer one!

  • is this better than a Acer Aspire One????

  • Would you recommend this for university students? I've heard that it doesn't perform well as the other minis.

  • Can It run move making programs like Sony Vegas????

  • is ubunto better or windows xp?

    thanks

  • I've found windows xp to be much better in performance.

  • does it have a memory card reader?

  • 3 in 1, SD, MMC, MS

  • i think i have a problem wih the speakers?!

Does it only have 1 or 2, and why is it so soft? i cant (almos) hear anything?!

    pls Help :\

  • I have to agree with you. The speaker is really too soft. It's hard watching movie with it without ear phone since I can't hear dialogue clearly.

  • can you upgrade the RAM to 2GB?

  • Yeah I've always been wondering if you could upgrade RAM... a netbook with a 8600 would do some good.

  • The Dell Website says you can't upgrade the RAM :(

  • well the 8600 is a very power hungry component wich is exactly what you dont want in a netbook but nvidia is coming out with ion platform wich has a more power eficiant 9400m gpu wich should do the job just fine considering its not meant for uber gaming

  • you shouldnt need 2GB of ram with XP or linux. XP was designed to work on less than 128MB and linux will be happy with almost nothing.

  • You are right. My Mini 12 with 1G ram is running just fine, even on CS3.

  • are you serious? can you really run CS3 on this netbook?

  • Check my video, I have a review on that. It does run CS3 smoothly!

  • Awesome design.

  • does it have a ethernet port

  • yea i think so, on the left side towards the back

  • Decent review (you did mumble some, though). The models here in the U.S. now come with XP as standard and a 6 cell battery on most models. Rumor is by the end of the year you'll be able to get them with Windows 7 on them.

  • Is it possible to get Vista for this?

  • If it takes 1 minute to boot linux ubuntu, wouldn't it take much longer to boot XP?

  • nice review, but i'd stick with ubuntu myself.

    best OS's in order

Leopard (if u got the cash)

    Ubuntu

    Win XP

    Win 7

    Win Vista

  • Leopard is not that expensive. Just 129 dollars, while Vista home premiun is at 120 (and price goes growing).

For me, Gentoo and Fedora are way better than ubuntu, but way harder to install.

  • Mind if I re-edit?

Leopard (if u got the cash)

    Ubuntu

    Win XP

    Win 7

    Win ME

    Win 2000

    Win 98

    MS-Dos

    Win Vista

  • I completely agree, though I would put ME a bit lower because damn, that thing crashed on me so often.

  • what's the difference between a netbook and a regular laptop?

  • A regular laptop is more heavey waied and is made for home and buissness use, where netbooks are secoundary "small laptops" that are extreamley smaller than laptops and are made for internet "on the move" so genrally netbooks are small laptop that are made for internet and travling around like on trains so you can have the entertainment of a laptop on the move. they dont have much hard drive space though because hdd is not important for a netbook beause its made for net mostley. :D

  • if it is only web browsing , chatting and e-mailing that you are interested in , go for netbook .

for programming , gaming ( with a good graphics card ) , dvd viewing and all that a netbook can do ..go for the notebook

the net books will have more newer models ... procrastinate your plans :)

  • do you know if u can change the graphics card on that cp

  • good stuff, thanks

  • Stick Arch on that and it flies.

  • what is arch?

  • Archlinux (.org) - a very light linux distro with a vanilla kernel which you build from the ground up using a small but very useful set of tools.

  • cheap keyboard NOT like ASUS 1000HA best one yet

  • at least the price is in the netbook range.

  • Is the word document on Ubunto come withthe netbook or do you have to pay extra?

  • Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice which is free and open source.

So yes it comes with the netbook.

  • i have one more question. Can ubuntu do the same thing as windows like download videos on youtube and have an itunes plylist and things like that.

  • you can do both of those, Google is your friend while using Linux.

Keep in mind, there is no iTunes for Linux, but there are many alternatives if you can live without the Music Store or App Store.

You can also attempt to emulate iTunes, but you'll have to google how to do it.

In all, Ubuntu is a great learning experience.

  • Yes! Ubuntu can do anything Windows can and MORE! If you install wine you can even run windows programs

  • yes Firefox extension MediPlayerConectivity do all work with videos, dosnt matter if youtube or apple trailers

  • ok thanks for telling me. itunes is my life and i luv doin things like that so i guess this isnt the netbook for me. can you give me some ideas

  • this laptop is perfect for me except ther is no disk drive

  • you mean you can put CD's in it?

  • no u cant

  • That's because it's not a laptop

  • does this run aim good with internet up??

  • nice laptop

  • lol, its a net book.

  • lol so thats a yes?

  • net books don't have a cd drive

  • 10" is just too small to use as a primary PC (in my opinion). These 12's seem better.. Roll on the NC20!

  • Yea, 12" screen is basically laptop size (small laptop) I think 10" is max to call it a netbook :)

  • A netbook is suppose to be small. Just buy a laptop if you want that.

  • Why not just buy a laptop?

  • If your buying a netbook, you OBVIOUSLY want a SMALL and PORTABLE machine that is CHEAPER than a laptop. There are definitely trade-offs, with buying a netbook over a laptop, but that's just something you have to ask yourself when your making your purchase...

  • Thanks for your reply. You are right but what I was thinking is if you are going to buy a netbook with that size screen it really is more of a laptop but it doesn't have what a laptop has meaning cd/dvd drive. If it is that big you might as well go on and buy a laptop and get the drive. That is just what I think. Netbooks are smaller and lighter in weight. This is something that is not really a laptop or a netbook.
