  • People should guide society. Not government.

  • @douchepos Agreed. But ideally, the government "represents" the will of the people. Not that it every has, but it should. I know, pie in the sky dreamer here. LOL!

  • The role of government btw is not to guide and regulate society. The role of government is to protect individual freedom and human rights.

How does forced taxes going to wars and a monopolized healthcare systems fit into that scheme buddy?

Again. If people don't learn to take care of themselves you end up with a society unable to tie their own shoes.

  • So if you're a Citizen you should pull yourself up by OTHER PEOPLE'S bootstraps?

  • @mythmanjay The world isn't that simple, or that black and white and you know it. We are smart enough and prosperous enough that we should never have to "pull" ourselves up after falling. As a kind and loving creatures we should WANT to help. Clever one liners only make one an ass and show that they haven't given any thought to their arguments.

  • @tecnoblix

Bruce Wayne's dad said it best.

"Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick OURSELVES UP!"

You are full of good intentions bro. Sadly the road to hell is paved with nothing but those. People need to learn that independence and individuality are the REAL human instincts.

Also. Listen to how egocentric you are. "I want a social safety net." Cool story bro. But why on earth would you force your ideology down my throat. Do it with likeminded people.

  • @tecnoblix Yeah. Shoulda known better than to condense my whole comment into one question here ;-)

And you're right; we SHOULD rest in our seat on the market ferris-wheel (helping others as we are given the power-to) while it- and the people helping us-place us exactly where we need to be.

However, many can't sit idly by as the ferris-wheel takes their seat down & back & under; & they get jealous of those going up & forward & over (as they once were) although THEY THEMSELVES ARE HELPING THOSE`NS

  • @tecnoblix People, as individuals, not government, are the ones who give most, always. We help out because we want to. That very goodwill to man can turn into anger when one is forced to, rather than us deciding to by our own free will.

  • The "strict constitutionalist" will argue about your "purpose of government" premise. The founding fathers were very adamant about limiting the federal gov to the role of constitutional rights enforcement. .. able to over ride the state only in matters where someones constitutional rights were being infringed. States were considered sovereign and were meant to have the right to decide most other things within it's borders. For instance, the ATF shouldn't be raiding legal grow ops in California.

  • @onlywhenprovoked Yes, but even the strict constitutionalist will have to accept the Amendments as part of the Constitution (which I believe he does). Part of his argument is that, currently, the government subverts the Constitution instead of trying to do it "legally" by drawing up a bill to amend the Constitution. And cannabis should be sold as a veritable in grocery stores as well as dried and in smoke shops! That should be how it is regardless of who gets elected!

  • @tecnoblix Yes, I think you're right about ratification being their only acceptable route. I can't really argue with him about the federal government subverting the constitution. We've seen that document pretty much voided within the last ten years.

Speaking of pot and elections, medicinal is on my state ballot this year :) which is the obvious next step since we voted 4 years ago in favor of decriminalizing small amounts (under one oz. = 100 dollar civil fine).

  • If Ron Paul is the best then the country is doomed -___- its takes a certain amount of mental disconnect or utter dishonesty to be a medical doctor and a creationist... It seems like he's just telling people what they want to hear so he can get a cult following strong enough to get him elected... I wouldn't trust him as far as I can currently throw him... and since I don't have my own arms yet that isn't very far at all ;3

  • @PinkProgram Agreed! At the same time though, all the other candidates ALSO say they believe in creationist bullshit and AREN'T smart enough to be a doctor. Our choice is either shit or stupid shit. Either way it's shit.

  • @tecnoblix the problem with smart shit is that it should know better ;3 Which either makes it a confused shit or a lying piece of shit ;D and most of his followers don't know shit from shinola... the whole thing stinks ;p

  • @PinkProgram I think he believes in the creation stuff despite him being a doctor. I also think both of those things drive his anti-abortion position. I'm an atheist and I don't

think it's rational but we all know plenty of people who believe in both.

What makes me not trust him is his "Sanctity of Life" bill.. and how he insists it's purpose is to give each state the right to decide. The language of the bill is clear in that it would turn abortion into a federal murder charge.

  • @onlywhenprovoked the pro-life people should volunteer to be surrogate vessels for the unwanted fetuses ;3 that would cut down a lot of the protests. If they really want the fetus to live that badly they should give birth to it ;3
