In the USA combinations maximum total weight is 36t if I'm correct and in Finland 60t. Engines in those trucks suck compared to EU trucks. <--- that too is a fact.
@SuomiFinland93 i got friends that are trckers and they run 50 ton loads most of the time, must be heavier loads i guess, but american engines are extremely detuned, my friend mike has 2200hp in his peterbuilt with 3100lb-ft, and the truck is a redone 70s model with a 900 cid i believe, somthing like that
bullshit. 2200hp at 3100ft lbs is nearly impossible on a hp:tq ratio in a turbo diesel engine. Let alone, 2200hp alone is far too ridiculous. I would believe 750hp @ 3100 ft lbs. Which is also a very close rating to the new Volvos right now over there.
@AeroSS87 well its what the motor was dynoed at, it has 3 turbos and custom forged hi comp pistons, there are ALOT of trucks running 2000hp here in the states, idk about the torque though, i thought it would be higher but those were the numbers he came out with

My truck is governed at 65 another truck at 65, but has heavier load so slight uphill slow him down but if I don't clear him before the uphill, we would become a moving road block. I choose to just slow down like you do. I might loose a few minutes of my time, but heck it is better than to compromise safety.

I never have issues with this in my truck, my truck does around 57.5/58mph, I knock back the cruise control a couple of clicks to prevent idiots like this hanging you out to dry.

@Tomskii5 ....It happens all the time in the UK, Whilst commuting from the south coast to London, and driving ultra economically, i.e. sitting in the left hand lane at 57/59 I would often see lorries over taking other lorries. Its wasn't uncommon to see a pair of lorries sitting abreast for 14 miles. Its pure arrogance, and selfishness. I know not all drivers are like that, and I take my hat off to the majority that use their common sense.

i was driving up the A1 in the uk last week and two trucks were blocking the road for miles, so i got angry and saw a gap alongside the lane 2. i over took the trucks and did a go slow in between the two lanes. big finger in their face followed.

@AngeliqueEU Ik keur dit gedrag niet goed. Ik ben zelf trucker en ken dit fenomeen heel goed. Maak het zelf ook dikwijls mee als ik een andere vrachtwagen aan het inhalen ben. Eerst rijden ze 80km/u en als je ze gaat inhalen kunnen ze in één keer 90km/u rijden.
En dan geraak je er met moeite maar voorbij. Met gevolg een hele sliert auto's achter je. Die allemaal gefrustreerd zijn wat logisch is. En dan halen de auto's je in en beginnen ze allemaal te claxoneren of ze snijden je de pas af en als je niet oplet gaan ze voor u neus remmen ( zeer veilig met een geladen truck van 44t en een vrachtwagen die achter mijn kont hangt die ik net heb ingehaald). Dus krijg ik de schuld omdat die "kl**tzak" gas bijgeeft.

Germans sometimes do it, but they are limited to 89-90, so no problem. Spanish truckers do it too, but they can go 95-100 in most cases, that's irritating.

camaraderie amongst truckers worldwide is almost ancient history, its the global movement ……‘’me vs the world’’ mentality, thats what I call it……..sad, but a reality.
Its obvious the guy with blue trailer has overtaken because the other truck was slower. The slower truck then speeds up to 89km/h so after a while the overtaker gets pissed off and its not fair on everyone else. The only knobhead is the guy that could off knocked his cruise control off to assist someone overtaking him. Theres nothing worse than overtaking someone only for them to match your speed so they deserve this!!

@Nivicoman yeah they are annoying, they always seem to end up near me when Im approaching a slow moving vehicle like a crane and even if I slow they slow, then when I start to run out of space just change lanes anyway, they soon speed up usually giving me a rude sign lol. Same as the cars you go to overtake only for them to spend the next 10 miles running up and down the side of the trailer, again indicator on and just slowly move over. Only way to deal with it.

Here in the US that has become quite common in the last few years for some dumbass to speed up while your passing them but i aint driving a modern day truck. My 359 Pete with a 725hp Cat mated with twin sticks runs off and leaves thier ass when they want to play games. Fuel mileage sucks but it is paid for.

If someone has caught me up I'll assist them in their overtaking maneuver by reducing my speed slightly, therefor not causing the traffic behind to bunch causing frustration. if the truck behind that is faster doesn't overtake it causes bunching of trucks so then takes other faster trucks even longer as they then have 2/3/4 trucks to overtake in one go. Its selfish to keep em out

That's one of the reasons I maintain my speed at 80 kmph.
It's less stressful and I get payed by the minute and not per km.
In the longrun it makes no difference if you're going 80 or 89 kmph.
On a non-stop trip from Luxemburg Airport to Amsterdam Airport it saves you only 15 minutes, if you're lucky and don't run into traffic jams.
And it saves you the speedingtickets!

you'll get used to it and the propper training also help a lot, the hardest part is addapting to every situation you'll get in to and anticipating what other people are going to do.
But i like the freedom of it you see places and you can do what you wnat.
ofcourse you need to deliver on time, but that's about the only thing that's restricting you.

@Tomskii5 ....It happens all the time in the UK, Whilst commuting from the south coast to London, and driving ultra economically, i.e. sitting in the left hand lane at 57/59 I would often see lorries over taking other lorries. Its wasn't uncommon to see a pair of lorries sitting abreast for 14 miles. Its pure arrogance, and selfishness. I know not all drivers are like that, and I take my hat off to the majority that use their common sense.

if your a pro chau and have at least one braincell you click it back 2 km and let him overtake dont take it personal i drive artics in the uk for a living and it never ceases to amaze me watching trucks overtaking in and out endlessly and then do they wonder why so many sideswipes happen when the guy cant see in his blindspot if your of above average intelligence then you can realise it makes naff all difference to your journey times

i was driving up the A1 in the uk last week and two trucks were blocking the road for miles, so i got angry and saw a gap alongside the lane 2. i over took the trucks and did a go slow in between the two lanes. big finger in their face followed.

@AngeliqueEU Ik keur dit gedrag niet goed. Ik ben zelf trucker en ken dit fenomeen heel goed. Maak het zelf ook dikwijls mee als ik een andere vrachtwagen aan het inhalen ben. Eerst rijden ze 80km/u en als je ze gaat inhalen kunnen ze in één keer 90km/u rijden.

En dan geraak je er met moeite maar voorbij. Met gevolg een hele sliert auto's achter je. Die allemaal gefrustreerd zijn wat logisch is. En dan halen de auto's je in en beginnen ze allemaal te claxoneren of ze snijden je de pas af en als je niet oplet gaan ze voor u neus remmen ( zeer veilig met een geladen truck van 44t en een vrachtwagen die achter mijn kont hangt die ik net heb ingehaald). Dus krijg ik de schuld omdat die "kl**tzak" gas bijgeeft.

Gelukkig overkomt het mij zelden ... meestal ook omdat ik in NL hoogstens 85 km/uur rijdt (rij benzine)
Maar als ik moet inhalen loopt hij 90km/uur ... heb ik laatst gezien tijdens een IVW controle dat mijn begrenzer hier ook op is afgesteld .... gelukkig zei de IVW'er er niets van. Hij loopt dan ietswat harder dan 90km/uur als ik naar mijn navigatie kijk.

In dat geval kun je je beter weer laten afzakken om erachter terug in te voegen ... ik durf te wedden dat automoblisten dan ook beter doorhebben wat er gaande was. O ja ... als die fl**** er bij de parking af zou gaan dan zou ik hem de huid volschelden. OF en misschien beter kenteken + bedrijfsnaam noteren en er opbellen.

En als ze het moesten zien dan zullen ze zeker de chauffeur die aan het inhalen aan de kant zetten. Wegens het inhaal verbod hier in Belgie dat gelijk paddestoelen uit de grond schiet. Nog zo'n geweldig idee van de regering. Daar hebben ze in NL toch iets veel beter opgevonden. Anyway ik zou zeggen hou het veilig en tussen de lijntjes ;-) M.v.g.

Its obvious the guy with blue trailer has overtaken because the other truck was slower. The slower truck then speeds up to 89km/h so after a while the overtaker gets pissed off and its not fair on everyone else. The only knobhead is the guy that could off knocked his cruise control off to assist someone overtaking him. Theres nothing worse than overtaking someone only for them to match your speed so they deserve this!!

@Nivicoman yeah they are annoying, they always seem to end up near me when Im approaching a slow moving vehicle like a crane and even if I slow they slow, then when I start to run out of space just change lanes anyway, they soon speed up usually giving me a rude sign lol. Same as the cars you go to overtake only for them to spend the next 10 miles running up and down the side of the trailer, again indicator on and just slowly move over. Only way to deal with it.

Here in the US that has become quite common in the last few years for some dumbass to speed up while your passing them but i aint driving a modern day truck. My 359 Pete with a 725hp Cat mated with twin sticks runs off and leaves thier ass when they want to play games. Fuel mileage sucks but it is paid for.

@TrebleClefRobert oh god its that attitude that's the reason why trucks get banned from overtaking everywhere. If someone has caught me up I'll assist them in their overtaking maneuver by reducing my speed slightly, therefor not causing the traffic behind to bunch causing frustration. if the truck behind that is faster doesn't overtake it causes bunching of trucks so then takes other faster trucks even longer as they then have 2/3/4 trucks to overtake in one go. Its selfish to keep em out
