@jason60152 yeah he lost against hearns cause he never trained properly not because hearns is natrually a better fighter than him and think about it if he beat sugar ray leonard what makes u think he cant beat mayweather, mayweather just chooses to fight people beneath his weight class and u know it why is he fighting ortiz and marquez why isnt he fighting cotto or pacqiao hes just scared remember all of durans losses are from lack of conditioning and practice he would smashhh mayweather
@32ElPana Duran can't beat Mayweather because Mayweather would frustrate Duran with his defense.Duran would quit like he did in the Sugar Ray Leonard fight.Mayweather is a natural Welterweight so how is he fighting guys smaller then him?Marquez and Pacman are the same size.Duran just doesn't have the power at Welterweight.
Are u kidding Mayweather chooses his fights and dodges fighter Duran was a great champion who fought who ever challenged him Duran easilly knocks out mayweather in his prime come on that noob against Duran would stand no chance
@32ElPana Mayweather doesn't choose his fights his promotion team does.Duran was a great lightweight champion but Mayweather was a better champion.Duran got ko'd by Hearns so what makes you think Duran would KO Mayweather?
i'm appalled that the ref and Moore's corner did NOT stop this fight. had i been in the audience i think i would have jumped in the ring. he was nearly killed!
@jason60152, yeah, got knocked out by Hearns....When he was 33 after a gruelling 80-odd fight career, fighting three divisions above his best weight class, against arguably the best Light-Middleweight ever at his peak and best weight. I dare say a lot of other greats would have got flattened by Hearns under the same circumstances - Mayweather included. As great as Floyd is, he's no Duran.
@RihannasBikeSeat Well that's your opinion if you think Duran is better then Floyd.I would take Floyd over Duran because Floyd got better defense and i'm a defensive person.I don't think Hearns would knock out Floyd because Floyd has the best defense ever besides Pernell Whitaker.Floyd at Welterweight is unstoppable.
@jason60152, Floyd versus Duran at Welterweight is a 50:50 match up. Don't forget that Duran was never outboxed at 147 lb ('no mas' was not, despite what some claim, some kind of boxing lesson) and beat some serious quality there. At Lightweight, Duran would be far too robust, strong and clever for Mayweather, as well as being too active. He'd take a decision over Floyd eight times out of ten. I rate Mayweather as a true all-time great, but at Lightweight, Duran stands alone.
@RihannasBikeSeat Duran at Welterweight doesn't have a chance against Floyd.50:50?You gotta be joking me.Floyd beat better competition then Duran did at Welterweight.Duran barely beat Leonard the first fight and it shows you Duran didn't want to fight Leonard the second time because he quit and his excuse was not training. If you didn't train good enough he should have faked a injury before the fight.Floyd always come prepared.Duran is unpredictable.I
@jason60152, keep dreaming. Duran's win over Leonard at 147 lb is worth more than all of Mayweather's Welterweight wins put together. Baldomir & Ortiz are plain average. An old, incactive Mosley, an overrated 140 lb man in Hatton and a natural Lightweight in Marquez are good wins for Mayweather, but comparitively and relatively speaking no better than Duran's wins over proven, fully-fledged Welterweight champions such as Cuevas & Palomino. But as I said, the Leonard win is enough on its own.
@RihannasBikeSeat Baldomir and Ortiz had the belt so Mayweather had to get those belts. That's the part of boxing to collect belts and look cool for the camera with 7 belts drapped over you.Mosley was still a threat and good fighter at his age and Hatton was undefeated.Marquez almost beat Pacman soo I don't wanna hear this Marquez is too small BS when he is the same size as Pacman.Leonard lost to Duran because he didn't stick to his script of sticking n moving.Duran is overrated at Welterweight.
@jason60152, Baldomir and Ortiz had belts, yes - hardly means, in this day and age, that they were anything special. Anyone with a brain can see that Marquez was fleshy and sluggish against Mayweather - his performance against Pacquiao doesn't make him a top Welterweight, just shows that styles make fights and that Pacquiao, as most are finally beginning to see, is overrated. You can't diminish Duran's win over Leonard in any way, much as you try. He beat an ATG 147 lb man, simple as that.
@RihannasBikeSeat Who's fault is that if his match with Mayweather was fleshy and sluggish to you.He lost to a better fighter.Stop making excuses for every fight Mayweather wins.Mayweather would beat Duran and there is nothing you can say to make me change my mind.If Mayweather fought Duran and won you would have a excuse for Duran I bet.hahaha When I make a excuse about why Leonard lost you don't even regard the fact that it's true so why should I agree with you?
@jason60152, I'm not saying it's Mayweather's fault, but you'd have to be stupid to think that someone who has spent their whole career between 122 lb and 135 lb and doesn't fight at 147 lb until they are THIRTY-SIX is anywhere near to being a natural at Welterweight. I'm not making any excuses for Duran at all. 'No Mas' was a poor show from him, but it doesn't un-do the other things he did as a Welterweight. If anything, YOU'RE making excuses for Leonard losing to him.
@jason60152, if Mayweather beats Pacman - and I've always thought he will - then his Welterweight resume would certainly be comparable to Duran's, yes. Probably better by a small margin, in fact. To be honest, I've always thought Mayweather was at his best at Super-Featherweight. Arguello was the best Super-Featherweight ever but Mayweather may well be number 2 there. If / when Mayweather beats Pacquiao he'd be in my top 20 p4p all time, but Duran would be in my top 10, though at the lower end.
@jason60152, yes, at the lower end. Absolutely no way has there been ten fighters who actually achieved more than he did, and at Lightweight he was one of the most picture-perfect fighters I've seen. Throw in one of the best singular wins of all time at a higher weight, and that's one hell of a record. I don't think there's a single other Lightweight in history who could win the Middleweight title 17 years after taking their first belt, and nor do I see them pushing a prime Hagler at 160 lb.
@RihannasBikeSeat Mayweather can win the middleweight belt because the middleweight division sucks. You just got Duran in your top 10 because Bert Sugar does.
@jason60152, well by all means, if Mayweather ever wins the lineal Middleweight title, feel free to get back to me. Until then, it's pure speculation. Bert Sugar is of no consequence to me at all, actually. In fact, I disagree with a lot of his pound for pound list, as well as his Heavyweight list. I can make my own judgements thanks, and Duran's achievements, dominance of Lightweight, complete fighting style and longevity at the top make him worth a top 10 spot to me. Get it?
@RihannasBikeSeat Complete fighting style?C'Mon man!! Mayweather had more of a complete style then Duran.Mayweather is more of an exciting fighter then Duran.Duran is good but if he crossed paths with Mayweather he would have never been a Middleweight champion because his confidence would have been shot from losing too many times at Welterweight.
@jason60152, Mayweather more exciting than Duran? I think we can safely say you haven't watched Duran against Leonard 1, De Jesus 2 & 3, Barkley, Buchanan etc. What Mayweather fight has got you all excited? Mayweather is a lot of good things, but exciting hasn't been one of them since he went north of 130 lb. Duran at Lightweight had it all, and if you bother to read what I said, I didn't deny that Mayweather is very complete, too. Talent-wise they're a close match but Duran ACHIEVED a lot more.
@RihannasBikeSeat I think Mayweather got more exciting when he moved up to WW and started being a legend killer.I didn't start watching Mayweather until he became a WW.I watched all 3 Durans fights with Leonard and watched Duran get owned by Hearns.I don't bother to watch Duran's lightweight matches because there wasn't any exciting fighters at lightweight when Duran boxed and I am picky when it comes to old boxers before my era.If you weren't great like Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson I don't watch.
@jason60152, you're missing out - Duran at Lightweight was ajoy to watch and his fights with Buchanan and De Jesus are right out of the top drawer. No offence, but if you haven't seen Duran in his prime and at his best weight, how can you be so sure that he's not as great as some make out? Since moving to Welterweight I think Mayweather has played it a lot safer, in every sense. Down at 130 lb, his wins (and quality of performances) against Hernandez and Corrales WERE exciting, & are underrated.
@jason60152 lol roberto duran is the best latin fighter ever..and perhaps the greatest light weight champion in the history of boxing....floyd mayweather as a welter weight is boring as hell!! his best fights entertainment wise have been in the light weight division..diego corrales, jose luis castillo, phillip n'dou to name a few!!in fact the only fight north of light weight where floyd truely put on a show was that massive ass whooping he gave arturo gatti
@RihannasBikeSeat intresting...you actually beleive alexis arguello was a better fighter at 130 than julio cesar chavez?? your a 100% correct when it comes to duran this guy should be on every ones top 10 list!! the majority of boxing fans are more familiar with him from his notable losses despite his huge list of acheivments which are about a mile long (shits really sad) the fact that he survived 15 rounds of marvin hagler looking out of shape and bloated as hell is a testament to his greatness
@youz1uglybish Pernell Whitaker is better then Duran.Duran won't even make my top 20.I can name 10 fighters who meant more to the game then Duran.Duran always lost to the best like Leonard,Hearns, and Hagler. The people he beat at Lightweight don't compare to these guys.Maybe if he beat Hagler or Hearns he would have earned my respect.Even if he would have KO'd Leonard he would have gained my respect.I don't understand why they gave Duran the nickname hands of stone.
@jason60152 hmm i think your failing to realize just how dominant duran was as a light weight! out of 60+ fights as a lightweight duran was knocking at the door of having almost 50 wins by stoppage..thats fucking insane he literally has more KO'S thru out his career than hagler, hearns, and leonard had fights! what duran was able to accomplish in his career was amazing in terms of accomplishments you have to put him in the convo with ray robinson, julio cesar chavez and company
@youz1uglybish So you wouldn't put Floyd Mayweather or Pernell Whitaker in company with Duran? I agree Duran is a beast for going 71-1 when he fought Ray Leonard and winning even though Ray Leonard got the lion's share of the money.I think that was more motivation for Duran to win because Duran felt he deserved a better share. But if the guys was better in the 80's then the 90's and 2000's then why isn't fighters these days reaching 100 plus fights in they career?
@jason60152 i absolutley woudn't put whitaker and pbf in the convo with duran you can't!!! im a huge fan of both whitaker and mayweather but duran is easily 1 of the top 10 best fighters to ever grace the sport! now to your next question you have to remember duran turned pro at 16...he didn't have the extensive amateur career as some one like a SRL or a thomas hearns these guys had about 160+ fights a piece before turning pro and thats the trend extensive amateur background short pro career!
@jason60152 floyd mayweather imo is top 15 i think he can lock up a spot easily after he beats pacquiao and possibly sergio martinez! its just a matter of floyd making the fights happen i think he can beat pacquiao and martinez even at 160lbs...lol martinez is a bit over rated i have no idea how he got so high up on the p4p list simply by beating paul williams..martinez is blatantly ducking the entire 168lb division its dis-graceful at this point dude needs to grow a pair and fight guys his size
@jason60152 and secondly bro you can't penalize a guy (who was a legitimate lightweight) for loosing to 3 GREAT fighters who were all out of his weight class!!duran was at his best at light weight ray leonard, marvin hagler, and thomas hearns where naturally bigger men! and call me crazy but i dont think pernell whitaker,or floyd mayweather had a shot in hell at beating any of these guys!! the quality of fighters where much better in the 80's
@jason60152 thats because he beat the shit out of everybody in his divison. Check out his KO record and KO percentage. and just cause he lost to those 3 doesnt mean he was a bad fighter. He fought Hearns Passed his prime, He peaked against Leonard and beat him in his prime. Was the first person out of the 4 to fight Hagler and Box him for 15 rounds and survived. Hearns couldnt do it. He got crushed in 3. Also Hearns got crushed By Iran Barkly whom Duran Defeated. Not in your top 20? Your crazy.
@InternationalBoy Thomas Hearns isn't even in Bert Sugar's top 20 and he is a boxing historian. How can Hearns be in your top 20? Hearns is a legend but not my type of fighter.
@youz1uglybish, I think at Super-Featherweight there is a holy trio who are clear at the top; Arguello, Chavez and Mayweather. But to me, Arguello was simply perfect at the weight, as close to perfection as you can get. I'd back him to beat Chavez & Mayweather in close fights at 130 lb. Remember, Arguello took the WBC belt from a great Super-Feather in Escalera, and swatted Limon, Chacon, Boza-Edwards & Navarette with ease during his reign - the men who dominated 130 lb after he moved up.
@RihannasBikeSeat i can't fault you at all for picking arguello..i think his size played a big factor in his dominance at 130lbs the guy was fking huge i have no idea how he managed to make 130lbs for as long as he did! but with all that said i think julio cesar chavez was the better fighter this is a guy who never even came close to loosing a fight in his prime with an abundance of the intangible qualitys you just cant teach!! chavez and arguello would be a dream match though!
The ref should have never been allowed to work another fight. ever again. Duran is a legend, who beat up a badly outclassed, but game Moore. This fought should have been stopped much sooner. It was a disgrace-- and yes, that ref should be ashamed of himself. Moore could have been killed.
There is no doubt that Duran fought a great fight.
The referee should be ashamed of himself for not stopping the fight earlier, and why did Moore's corner continue to send him out round after round just to get beaten up more? Moore was a potential superstar before the fight, but was never the same fighter again afterwards. He could easily have been killed in the ring that night,
@johnnyboy18603 i understand what you are saying but its the hurt business and this is what happens, you dont come into it if you cant take beating. and i think boxing has become so boring now because of rules, and the ref stops the fight too early theese days and it has become into a sport for fragile men and a gentle sport and thats why it has lost so much popularity of the years, because we never get a fight.
@TheGREATEST95 This was where Moore needed one of his cornermen to grow some balls and pull him out like Eddie Futch did with Joe Frazier in Manilla. His eye was closed and he couldn't even see the punches coming. Moore later said himself that he should have stayed in his corner after the third round. The ref never even called the doctor in to look at Moore's eye. I hope the ref's licence was taken away after this, becuase he was completle incompetent.
Hagler was very successful because he kept his weight at middleweight and nothing more.Duran was a lightweight/welter at his best. Not a pure lightweight.Duran beating moore and barkley(many thought barkley won the decision) means nothing. Both those fighters were crack addicts.Duran struggled too much with too many subpar fighters thruout his career.Look at boxrec and you see duran going 12 rounds,15 rounds,11 rounds all with subpar fighters that he should have finished off in 3,4,or 5 rounds.
Leonard displayed the most amazing boxing demponstration and total annihilation of a supposed great fighter. It's shivering how great and stellar leonard was in their SECOND FIGHT. Duran looked so impotent because leonard was sooo much better in his prime then duran was.And duran gets totally blitzed out easily by Hearns. One of hearns most easiest fights in his career. And that was the great duran.AND Hearns as a welter in 1980 would have ko'd the welter version of duran as easily as he did
This doesnt eliminate him from greatness BUT he's not a top 10 of all time. That's for sure after watching viruet, dejesus, benitez, hearns and leonard beat him badly.I think theres a possibility that manny could beat duran at lightweight and welter.
KA-BOOM!!! I think i felt the earth shaking when duran landed that right hand and send Moore to the orbit. Unbelieveble fighter,a rock hard legend of all time. Greetings from Finland to all boxing people.
In his heyday, opponents of Duran noticed that the harder you hit him the quicker Duran would smile and unleash his devastating and legendary "hands of stone" on them. I remember reading on more than one occasion how they would later say that Duran's eyes would become solid black which would of course intimidate the hell out of the best of them.
This is where corners need to be investigaged and sanctioned. Moore HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of winning this fight. NONE!! To send him back out there was criminal. You could see in his eyes HE DIDN'T HAVE THE HEART OR THE WILL!!!
Davey Moore was an up and comer. A champion prospect. The Duran fight was organised as s big time jump for Davey. Whup and old champion to get into the big time. Never underestimate Duran. Never.
Duran most be classed as just one of the toughest guys to ever walk the planet,he is just such a strong relentless fighter, exciting to watch and as hard as nails. If you got drawn to fight this guy you know you were in for a very hard and painful night. What a fighter..i must say this guy was a total hero to me
Duran was fighting a young Moore and no one gave Roberto much of a chance ..Duran 32 at the time was thought to be washed up but on this night Moore stepped in with an in shape hungry professor Duran ,and Duran tought Moore that it was Moore who was in way over his head and took a beating , a bad beating ...notice the lace job did to Moore after rd 7 ...what a beating
Why do you constantly compare this to other fights? Like historically referencing bullshit like i would not have stopped this or that fight, and basing my ONE opinion on ONE fight that i'm not qualified for something? You could make the arguement in manilla that BOTH corners should have stopped the fight it was so brutal. I was responding to the REFs call. The trainer knows his fighter and he didn't stop it. That's that, hindsight is 20/20
I DO box too buddy. And if you knew anything about boxing you'd know that Duk koo Kim died because of the massive weight loss he endured before the fight left him dehydrated and his body was completly spent. NEVER become a ref? get to learn your facts before you spit shit out
@luker213 Moore was spent! After seeing that severe ass whooping for 8 straight rounds? Do you REALLY think that he could've come back from that!? Hell no! Dave was out of it! Any more was just putting his health, (if not death, permenant damage that would hurt his career or life) in danger! Sometimes you have to make a call and weigh a fighter's health vs victory! Victory for Moore was pretty damn far off! Like i say YOU should NEVER become a referee or a trainer. You'd have killed Frazier in
@luker213 Manilla if you were there instead of Futch! You should NEVER put your fighter's life in danger unless your sure they are ahead of the score cards and DAMAGING the other guy, not just punching, but hurting the other guy! Moore couldnt do that!
Davey was still fighting back, you can't just stop a fight because a guy is taking a beating. You have to give a guy the benefit of the doubt if he's defending himself and throwing puches that he might get back into the fight. Besides this is boxing not the fucking ice-capades guys take a beating sometimes.
@luker213 Even if he's standing and still conscious death can occur. Moore had NOTHING left, and was only just standing. I've boxed before, and can tell he's very fatigued. Duk koo Kim during his fight with Mancini was killed in the ring, and he was conscious up the 14th round. Meaning Kim was visibly conscious for MINUTES after losing, collapsed, than died in a coma. Please, NEVER become a referee in a contact sport. You'd most likely have some young fighter end up like Benny "the Kid" Paret.
@BruceinFalkirk Thank you. I used to watch the Moore/Duran fight regulatory. By the 8th Moore was basiclly slumping onto Duran. His punches had no sitng left. And when Moore is declared done by the ref, Moore, with his eye swollen, doesnt argue with the ref. The stoppage was necessary! Letting that go any further would have been criminal!
@luker213 but you are certainly wrong on this one. There's no point when superiority is established beyond all doubt and one has virtually no chance to win. You could argue that Duran could have tripped on his laces and knocked himself out I guess. Moore's life WAS in fact compromised by the beating Duran gave him subsequent to the knockdown. Do you think its just coincindence that so many boxrs die so young in weird circs? OF COURSE NOT its cos of the brain damage they suffer in the ring.
@DrSamuelLoomis Duran overrated are you insane, the most awesome lightweight champ in history 12 title defenses, beat a prime Leonard way above his natural weight class, held his own against Marvin Hagler eons above his weight class, outboxed a prime Iran Barkley while he was way past his prime, my word you FUCKIN IDIOT go to boxrec.com and look at the mans record in his prime its a resume of great fighters. One thing thou Floyd would not fight Duran unless Duran had certain medical tests PUSSSY
@b52gf16c Duran was a great fisticuff fighter and conditioned but I saw him live in sept30 1975 on the al/frazier manilla card.At the nassau colliseum, duran in shape, was outpointed by edwin viruet but the judges gace it to duran and the crowd BOOED.Thats why I picked leonard 5 yrs later but leonard fought the wrong fight and the second fight showed how pitiful you could make duran look if you box him.He really didnt beat any great fighters.Leonard beat himself that night.
@b52gf16c I have his record and duran was a great conditioned panamanian devil but not in the top 10 of all time pound for pound. The people who rate him in the top ten take consideration his over 100 wins and he fought like a fighter from the 30's and 40's so for the cigar smoking old fogies,he's a legand but Hearns beat him so bad and leonard gave him an embarressing boxing lesson so bad and viruet at lightweight should have gotten the win AND benitez was so dominating over duran.
@b52gf16c The best fighters duran fought basically beat him and the others he beat but went long rounds with them, dejesus, viruet, etcMoore and Barkley were fucking BUMS!!!!!!!!!!Don't make me laugh. The best fighters ever pound for pound were:Robinson,Ali,Leonard,Armstrong,Jones(for 5 yrs),Mayweather(you can call him gay but he's undefeated in 4 weight classes,Manny can't even give that type of stat!)
@DrSamuelLoomis you rate Duran as a bum, Freddie Roach rates him higher than Manny Pacquiao.Indeed most knowledgable followers of boxing rate him as as one of the top 3 fighters who ever lived. Mayweather is a cowardly, dumb, punk nigger- who cares about his boxing? All he ever does is run away, No one will even mention him 10 years after he's retired. People will talk about Duran the same as Robinson and Ali-as long as boxing exists.
@michaelkan1 Freddie Roach is brain dead. His opinion doesn't matter. Floyd is better than that chump Duran. You know it that's why you hate Floyd and use racial slurs. He brags, talks shit and wins every time he steps in the ring. And lol @ higher than Pacquiao, like that is some big accomplishment.
@michaelkan1 He is a litle out of touch calling duran a bum BUT,duran was a little overrated because he lost to all the great fighters in each weight,Dejesus, viruet - lightweight. Leonard - welter, benitez, hearns, super welter, hagler - middle. To all the duran nuthuggers out there,I saw the viruet/duran fight live at the colliseum in 75 and viruet out classed/outfinessed duran for 10 rounds but the duran nutthugging judges gave it to duran. So he lost and struggled in every weight class he fought.
@fadethetrade But of course we can all see the duran/viruet fight on youtube and see for ourselves how easily Duran won. Youre just getting old and cranky. And how do you think Hagler would have done against a prime Holyfield at cruiserweight? Boxed him punch for punch outclassing him at times and still breathing fire after 15 rounds-Somehow I don't think so.
@michaelkan1 You're wrong. That fight isnt on youtube.youtube has their second fight.I saw the fight live and the rest of the arena agreed that viruet WAS ROBBED> Stop being such a duran nuthugger. He got his arse kicked numerous times and has the distinction of being put into a coma by hearns and only at 154 lbs.He lost in every weight class.Benitez made him look like an amature,Duran's natural weight was not really lightweight ,it was something in between lightweight and welter.junior welter
@fadethetrade you obviously know very little about boxing and your arguments very childlike-Chavez, Ali, Robinson, Louis, Tyson, Arguello, and every great fighter other than Marciano and Sanchez (who was dead before he was 25) had their "arses kicked" BY your estimation they must all be "over-rated".
@michaelkan1 You're not reading my posts carefuly, just thinking from your heart.Forget it. Duran was a great fighter but not in the top 10 pound for pound. The self preserve guys were all better.Roy jones would beat duran if jones got down to 148.Mayweather would outpoint duran as easily or even more impressiveley then viruet did in 1975.Can you comprehend this?????
Duran got beat too many times by too many other great fighters with self preservasion skills.
@michaelkan1 It's an argument that goes on for decades but the facts remain,as boring as they are,the self preservasion masters are the best fighters with gloves and rules inside the boxing ring, better then the tysons, marcianos, louis's foremans, durans etc, etc. The robinsons, ali's mayweathers, leonards come up ahead of the brawling boxer/punchers.Sorry,Accept the facts given to you by a pro, you'll sleep better at night. No reason to respond, you can't keep up with my knowledge.
@fadethetrade Ali and mayweather are defensive fighters with next to no power, Robinson and leonard were offensive powerpunchers. Tyson was a one dimensional bully-duran was a master of defense as well as a KO artist. You're getting all confused. Are you sure you're talking about the same Duran? I mean the one from Panama.
@michaelkan1 Agreed. Duran was a master boxer/puncher & fantastic defensive fighter. No better in/fighter since the old masters. Duran knew the game inside/out.
SRL said Duran was the best he fought.
The only fighter Freddy Brown compared to the older generation fighters was Duran.
Arcel put him the category with Benny Leonard & Joe Gans.
@michaelkan1 Which Mayweather are you talking about when you say Mayweather had no power cause Mayweather jnr was a devestating Puncher at 130.and Tyson in his prime had good boxing skills then later became one dimensional.
@michaelkan1 your the stupidest commenter iv ever seen roberto duran fought in his 50s if you didnt know that and mayweather culd never be at roberto durans level he wuld knock maywather out and roberto duran won atleast 103 fights out of 119 and lost like 16 thats not a lot out of 119 fights he still won over 100 fights and he beat suger ray
That may be right but wat makes boxig entertaining are boxers like da tysons, durans, morales, barreras....not boring defensive fighters like da mayweathers...as a boxing fanatic i wana see two guys going at it..not running around da ring trying to look pretty....and pacquiao is gonna prove dat an aggressive offense WILL beat a good defense..mayweather can duck and hide for a while but not the whole fight
ok here u go retarded motherfucker..the only reason mayweather fights sell alot now is because dey wana see him finally loose..not because they wana see him duckin and dodgin...most of his fights people b booing n shit so please kid...aggressive fighters will always b the ones remembered and thought of as champions with heart...and duran beat leonard cuz he hit too damn hard and was very aggressive...sugar said it himself...so strong offense can beat a good defense u dumb fuck
This is just stupidity. Great slick guys nearly always beat great brawlers. Just watch Whittaker dominating Chavez if you want to see how the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight would go.
Duran only beat Leonard, as he was actually supremely technical. He could box 15 different ways to win.
Pacquiao's not that good. He can only fight one way.
@michaelkan1 Actually,I can't even imagine what a schmuck you are to make that comment about a fight you were probably not even born yet to see and the youtube viruet duran fight is their SECOND FIGHT.You're an asshole...
@fadethetrade I wondered how after you'd lost the argument it would take you to resort to name calling. I refer you to my previous comment- "Childlike"
@michaelkan1 He's not even close.Duran was like a fighter fromthe 30's and 40's and those cigar smoking fogies pick him for the top 5 but he didnt belong in the top 10.Duran was a great fighter but not as good as alot of people say because he lost almost every great fighter he fought,The moore and barkley fight were too overrated fighters and he thumbed moore and barkley might have won that fight because duran only really won the two rounds he knocked barkley down,1st and the 11th.
At about 3:13 check out the liver shot by Duran. Moore's legs are just about paralyzed, after that the knockdown was sure to follow. This punch was as violent as they come, unlike the Barkley knockdow wich required 4 perfectley placed puches, this was a one shotter.
Few fighters commanded the loyal following as Duran. Like in the Barkley fight, just listen to the crowd!!
@hlewis420 and your a nobody lol ... he maybe a quitter ..but a man that can kd a black guy twice his size with one punch to the chest proves he isn't a pussy or a coward...way better then that nub Sergio Martinez..
either way your opinion is meaningless because RD is still recognized as one of the best of all time..
@hlewis420 Lmfao I would say your the pussy and coward cause you say that behind a pc screen you internet thug. Your just mad cause your not going to be no where near Durans level he´s teh best light weight there has been so . Go drink you hateraid.
@DannyBruiz Definitelly being lightweight and coming to face in equal fight the great marvin hagler and beating iran barkley in age 38.Roberto may be the greatest fighter ever and sure a fighter with the biggest heart ever
Wow! Duran almost made Moore swallow his mouthpiece! Too bad, Duran got sold to Game Fixing.. Duran never quits but the large offer must've changed his mind. When Don King is around, you'd know something ain't right is happening behind the curtains.
Poor Davey Moore, one morning in early June 1988, as Moore was leaving his home, he stepped out of his car to open his garage door. The car lurched backwards, pinning him against the door of his garage. He died at the scene...

Duran quitted against Leonard because of Sugar Ray´s clowning around and humiliation. That dosen´t make him a quitter, a quitter is someone who quits always, who is nothing but a joke who quits every fight. Tell me two fights Duran quitted?
u told me i had so many so i actually checked on this and was very suprised. i found it even funnier that your lame ass is arguing to me about some comment that i made and was directed at someone who is not you lol. And i never said he didnt quit against leonard cuz he did. he also beat leonards ass lol. so get off my nuts ok. my comment i made was directed at someone and a response to them. Most great boxers have a horrible moment or defeat in their careers. some dont come back. he did.
Oh and quit? Do you mean like this? "Duran quit in the fight with Leonard"? You know that it is the past that Duran fought Leonard and thats why i used quitted he quitted against Leonard, it is already the past, it already happened think. Wow, and you wanna play "English" teacher with me, haha, your pathetic.

32ElPana 2 months ago
@32ElPana Duran can't beat Mayweather because Mayweather would frustrate Duran with his defense.Duran would quit like he did in the Sugar Ray Leonard fight.Mayweather is a natural Welterweight so how is he fighting guys smaller then him?Marquez and Pacman are the same size.Duran just doesn't have the power at Welterweight.
jason60152 2 months ago
Are u kidding Mayweather chooses his fights and dodges fighter Duran was a great champion who fought who ever challenged him Duran easilly knocks out mayweather in his prime come on that noob against Duran would stand no chance
32ElPana 2 months ago
@32ElPana Mayweather doesn't choose his fights his promotion team does.Duran was a great lightweight champion but Mayweather was a better champion.Duran got ko'd by Hearns so what makes you think Duran would KO Mayweather?

@marc5610 Floyd Mayweather Jr. is undefeated though.Duran got ko'd by Hearns.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, yeah, got knocked out by Hearns....When he was 33 after a gruelling 80-odd fight career, fighting three divisions above his best weight class, against arguably the best Light-Middleweight ever at his peak and best weight. I dare say a lot of other greats would have got flattened by Hearns under the same circumstances - Mayweather included. As great as Floyd is, he's no Duran.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Well that's your opinion if you think Duran is better then Floyd.I would take Floyd over Duran because Floyd got better defense and i'm a defensive person.I don't think Hearns would knock out Floyd because Floyd has the best defense ever besides Pernell Whitaker.Floyd at Welterweight is unstoppable.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, Floyd versus Duran at Welterweight is a 50:50 match up. Don't forget that Duran was never outboxed at 147 lb ('no mas' was not, despite what some claim, some kind of boxing lesson) and beat some serious quality there. At Lightweight, Duran would be far too robust, strong and clever for Mayweather, as well as being too active. He'd take a decision over Floyd eight times out of ten. I rate Mayweather as a true all-time great, but at Lightweight, Duran stands alone.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Duran at Welterweight doesn't have a chance against Floyd.50:50?You gotta be joking me.Floyd beat better competition then Duran did at Welterweight.Duran barely beat Leonard the first fight and it shows you Duran didn't want to fight Leonard the second time because he quit and his excuse was not training. If you didn't train good enough he should have faked a injury before the fight.Floyd always come prepared.Duran is unpredictable.I
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, keep dreaming. Duran's win over Leonard at 147 lb is worth more than all of Mayweather's Welterweight wins put together. Baldomir & Ortiz are plain average. An old, incactive Mosley, an overrated 140 lb man in Hatton and a natural Lightweight in Marquez are good wins for Mayweather, but comparitively and relatively speaking no better than Duran's wins over proven, fully-fledged Welterweight champions such as Cuevas & Palomino. But as I said, the Leonard win is enough on its own.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Baldomir and Ortiz had the belt so Mayweather had to get those belts. That's the part of boxing to collect belts and look cool for the camera with 7 belts drapped over you.Mosley was still a threat and good fighter at his age and Hatton was undefeated.Marquez almost beat Pacman soo I don't wanna hear this Marquez is too small BS when he is the same size as Pacman.Leonard lost to Duran because he didn't stick to his script of sticking n moving.Duran is overrated at Welterweight.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, Baldomir and Ortiz had belts, yes - hardly means, in this day and age, that they were anything special. Anyone with a brain can see that Marquez was fleshy and sluggish against Mayweather - his performance against Pacquiao doesn't make him a top Welterweight, just shows that styles make fights and that Pacquiao, as most are finally beginning to see, is overrated. You can't diminish Duran's win over Leonard in any way, much as you try. He beat an ATG 147 lb man, simple as that.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Who's fault is that if his match with Mayweather was fleshy and sluggish to you.He lost to a better fighter.Stop making excuses for every fight Mayweather wins.Mayweather would beat Duran and there is nothing you can say to make me change my mind.If Mayweather fought Duran and won you would have a excuse for Duran I bet.hahaha When I make a excuse about why Leonard lost you don't even regard the fact that it's true so why should I agree with you?
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, I'm not saying it's Mayweather's fault, but you'd have to be stupid to think that someone who has spent their whole career between 122 lb and 135 lb and doesn't fight at 147 lb until they are THIRTY-SIX is anywhere near to being a natural at Welterweight. I'm not making any excuses for Duran at all. 'No Mas' was a poor show from him, but it doesn't un-do the other things he did as a Welterweight. If anything, YOU'RE making excuses for Leonard losing to him.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat So if Floyd beats Pacman then would you agree that Floyd is better then Duran at Welterweight?
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, if Mayweather beats Pacman - and I've always thought he will - then his Welterweight resume would certainly be comparable to Duran's, yes. Probably better by a small margin, in fact. To be honest, I've always thought Mayweather was at his best at Super-Featherweight. Arguello was the best Super-Featherweight ever but Mayweather may well be number 2 there. If / when Mayweather beats Pacquiao he'd be in my top 20 p4p all time, but Duran would be in my top 10, though at the lower end.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Duran is in your top 10 p4p fighters of all time?
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, yes, at the lower end. Absolutely no way has there been ten fighters who actually achieved more than he did, and at Lightweight he was one of the most picture-perfect fighters I've seen. Throw in one of the best singular wins of all time at a higher weight, and that's one hell of a record. I don't think there's a single other Lightweight in history who could win the Middleweight title 17 years after taking their first belt, and nor do I see them pushing a prime Hagler at 160 lb.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Mayweather can win the middleweight belt because the middleweight division sucks. You just got Duran in your top 10 because Bert Sugar does.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, well by all means, if Mayweather ever wins the lineal Middleweight title, feel free to get back to me. Until then, it's pure speculation. Bert Sugar is of no consequence to me at all, actually. In fact, I disagree with a lot of his pound for pound list, as well as his Heavyweight list. I can make my own judgements thanks, and Duran's achievements, dominance of Lightweight, complete fighting style and longevity at the top make him worth a top 10 spot to me. Get it?
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat Complete fighting style?C'Mon man!! Mayweather had more of a complete style then Duran.Mayweather is more of an exciting fighter then Duran.Duran is good but if he crossed paths with Mayweather he would have never been a Middleweight champion because his confidence would have been shot from losing too many times at Welterweight.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, Mayweather more exciting than Duran? I think we can safely say you haven't watched Duran against Leonard 1, De Jesus 2 & 3, Barkley, Buchanan etc. What Mayweather fight has got you all excited? Mayweather is a lot of good things, but exciting hasn't been one of them since he went north of 130 lb. Duran at Lightweight had it all, and if you bother to read what I said, I didn't deny that Mayweather is very complete, too. Talent-wise they're a close match but Duran ACHIEVED a lot more.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat I think Mayweather got more exciting when he moved up to WW and started being a legend killer.I didn't start watching Mayweather until he became a WW.I watched all 3 Durans fights with Leonard and watched Duran get owned by Hearns.I don't bother to watch Duran's lightweight matches because there wasn't any exciting fighters at lightweight when Duran boxed and I am picky when it comes to old boxers before my era.If you weren't great like Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson I don't watch.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152, you're missing out - Duran at Lightweight was ajoy to watch and his fights with Buchanan and De Jesus are right out of the top drawer. No offence, but if you haven't seen Duran in his prime and at his best weight, how can you be so sure that he's not as great as some make out? Since moving to Welterweight I think Mayweather has played it a lot safer, in every sense. Down at 130 lb, his wins (and quality of performances) against Hernandez and Corrales WERE exciting, & are underrated.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat I'll make sure I watch those Duran fights you mentioned and i'll get back with you:)
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152 lol roberto duran is the best latin fighter ever..and perhaps the greatest light weight champion in the history of boxing....floyd mayweather as a welter weight is boring as hell!! his best fights entertainment wise have been in the light weight division..diego corrales, jose luis castillo, phillip n'dou to name a few!!in fact the only fight north of light weight where floyd truely put on a show was that massive ass whooping he gave arturo gatti
youz1uglybish 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat intresting...you actually beleive alexis arguello was a better fighter at 130 than julio cesar chavez?? your a 100% correct when it comes to duran this guy should be on every ones top 10 list!! the majority of boxing fans are more familiar with him from his notable losses despite his huge list of acheivments which are about a mile long (shits really sad) the fact that he survived 15 rounds of marvin hagler looking out of shape and bloated as hell is a testament to his greatness
youz1uglybish 2 months ago
@youz1uglybish Pernell Whitaker is better then Duran.Duran won't even make my top 20.I can name 10 fighters who meant more to the game then Duran.Duran always lost to the best like Leonard,Hearns, and Hagler. The people he beat at Lightweight don't compare to these guys.Maybe if he beat Hagler or Hearns he would have earned my respect.Even if he would have KO'd Leonard he would have gained my respect.I don't understand why they gave Duran the nickname hands of stone.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152 hmm i think your failing to realize just how dominant duran was as a light weight! out of 60+ fights as a lightweight duran was knocking at the door of having almost 50 wins by stoppage..thats fucking insane he literally has more KO'S thru out his career than hagler, hearns, and leonard had fights! what duran was able to accomplish in his career was amazing in terms of accomplishments you have to put him in the convo with ray robinson, julio cesar chavez and company
youz1uglybish 2 months ago
@youz1uglybish So you wouldn't put Floyd Mayweather or Pernell Whitaker in company with Duran? I agree Duran is a beast for going 71-1 when he fought Ray Leonard and winning even though Ray Leonard got the lion's share of the money.I think that was more motivation for Duran to win because Duran felt he deserved a better share. But if the guys was better in the 80's then the 90's and 2000's then why isn't fighters these days reaching 100 plus fights in they career?
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152 i absolutley woudn't put whitaker and pbf in the convo with duran you can't!!! im a huge fan of both whitaker and mayweather but duran is easily 1 of the top 10 best fighters to ever grace the sport! now to your next question you have to remember duran turned pro at 16...he didn't have the extensive amateur career as some one like a SRL or a thomas hearns these guys had about 160+ fights a piece before turning pro and thats the trend extensive amateur background short pro career!
youz1uglybish 2 months ago
@jason60152 floyd mayweather imo is top 15 i think he can lock up a spot easily after he beats pacquiao and possibly sergio martinez! its just a matter of floyd making the fights happen i think he can beat pacquiao and martinez even at 160lbs...lol martinez is a bit over rated i have no idea how he got so high up on the p4p list simply by beating paul williams..martinez is blatantly ducking the entire 168lb division its dis-graceful at this point dude needs to grow a pair and fight guys his size
youz1uglybish 2 months ago
@youz1uglybish If he beat Pacman Floyd Mayweather should be in everybodys top 10.
jason60152 2 months ago
@jason60152 and secondly bro you can't penalize a guy (who was a legitimate lightweight) for loosing to 3 GREAT fighters who were all out of his weight class!!duran was at his best at light weight ray leonard, marvin hagler, and thomas hearns where naturally bigger men! and call me crazy but i dont think pernell whitaker,or floyd mayweather had a shot in hell at beating any of these guys!! the quality of fighters where much better in the 80's
youz1uglybish 2 months ago
@jason60152 thats because he beat the shit out of everybody in his divison. Check out his KO record and KO percentage. and just cause he lost to those 3 doesnt mean he was a bad fighter. He fought Hearns Passed his prime, He peaked against Leonard and beat him in his prime. Was the first person out of the 4 to fight Hagler and Box him for 15 rounds and survived. Hearns couldnt do it. He got crushed in 3. Also Hearns got crushed By Iran Barkly whom Duran Defeated. Not in your top 20? Your crazy.
InternationalBoy 1 month ago
@InternationalBoy Thomas Hearns isn't even in Bert Sugar's top 20 and he is a boxing historian. How can Hearns be in your top 20? Hearns is a legend but not my type of fighter.
jason60152 1 month ago
@youz1uglybish, I think at Super-Featherweight there is a holy trio who are clear at the top; Arguello, Chavez and Mayweather. But to me, Arguello was simply perfect at the weight, as close to perfection as you can get. I'd back him to beat Chavez & Mayweather in close fights at 130 lb. Remember, Arguello took the WBC belt from a great Super-Feather in Escalera, and swatted Limon, Chacon, Boza-Edwards & Navarette with ease during his reign - the men who dominated 130 lb after he moved up.
RihannasBikeSeat 2 months ago
@RihannasBikeSeat i can't fault you at all for picking arguello..i think his size played a big factor in his dominance at 130lbs the guy was fking huge i have no idea how he managed to make 130lbs for as long as he did! but with all that said i think julio cesar chavez was the better fighter this is a guy who never even came close to loosing a fight in his prime with an abundance of the intangible qualitys you just cant teach!! chavez and arguello would be a dream match though!

There is no doubt that Duran fought a great fight.
The referee should be ashamed of himself for not stopping the fight earlier, and why did Moore's corner continue to send him out round after round just to get beaten up more? Moore was a potential superstar before the fight, but was never the same fighter again afterwards. He could easily have been killed in the ring that night,
johnnyboy18603 6 months ago 15
@johnnyboy18603 i understand what you are saying but its the hurt business and this is what happens, you dont come into it if you cant take beating. and i think boxing has become so boring now because of rules, and the ref stops the fight too early theese days and it has become into a sport for fragile men and a gentle sport and thats why it has lost so much popularity of the years, because we never get a fight.
TheGREATEST95 2 weeks ago

Both those fighters were crack addicts.Duran struggled too much with too many subpar fighters thruout his career.Look at boxrec and you see duran going 12 rounds,15 rounds,11 rounds all with subpar fighters that he should have finished off in 3,4,or 5 rounds.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
Leonard displayed the most amazing boxing demponstration and total annihilation of a supposed great fighter. It's shivering how great and stellar leonard was in their SECOND FIGHT. Duran looked so impotent because leonard was sooo much better in his prime then duran was.And duran gets totally blitzed out easily by Hearns. One of hearns most easiest fights in his career. And that was the great duran.AND Hearns as a welter in 1980 would have ko'd the welter version of duran as easily as he did
fadethetrade 8 months ago
This doesnt eliminate him from greatness BUT he's not a top 10 of all time. That's for sure after watching viruet, dejesus, benitez, hearns and leonard beat him badly.I think theres a possibility that manny could beat duran at lightweight and welter.

In his heyday, opponents of Duran noticed that the harder you hit him the quicker Duran would smile and unleash his devastating and legendary "hands of stone" on them. I remember reading on more than one occasion how they would later say that Duran's eyes would become solid black which would of course intimidate the hell out of the best of them.
rodanosamehr 9 months ago
This is where corners need to be investigaged and sanctioned. Moore HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of winning this fight. NONE!! To send him back out there was criminal. You could see in his eyes HE DIDN'T HAVE THE HEART OR THE WILL!!!

That's that, hindsight is 20/20
luker213 11 months ago
I DO box too buddy. And if you knew anything about boxing you'd know that Duk koo Kim died because of the massive weight loss he endured before the fight left him dehydrated and his body was completly spent. NEVER become a ref? get to learn your facts before you spit shit out
luker213 11 months ago
@luker213 Moore was spent! After seeing that severe ass whooping for 8 straight rounds? Do you REALLY think that he could've come back from that!? Hell no! Dave was out of it! Any more was just putting his health, (if not death, permenant damage that would hurt his career or life) in danger! Sometimes you have to make a call and weigh a fighter's health vs victory! Victory for Moore was pretty damn far off! Like i say YOU should NEVER become a referee or a trainer. You'd have killed Frazier in
POTATER1228 11 months ago
@luker213 Manilla if you were there instead of Futch! You should NEVER put your fighter's life in danger unless your sure they are ahead of the score cards and DAMAGING the other guy, not just punching, but hurting the other guy! Moore couldnt do that!
POTATER1228 11 months ago
Davey was still fighting back, you can't just stop a fight because a guy is taking a beating. You have to give a guy the benefit of the doubt if he's defending himself and throwing puches that he might get back into the fight. Besides this is boxing not the fucking ice-capades guys take a beating sometimes.
luker213 11 months ago
@luker213 Even if he's standing and still conscious death can occur. Moore had NOTHING left, and was only just standing. I've boxed before, and can tell he's very fatigued. Duk koo Kim during his fight with Mancini was killed in the ring, and he was conscious up the 14th round. Meaning Kim was visibly conscious for MINUTES after losing, collapsed, than died in a coma. Please, NEVER become a referee in a contact sport. You'd most likely have some young fighter end up like Benny "the Kid" Paret.
POTATER1228 11 months ago
@POTATER1228
Absolutely. Davey Moore should have been pulled out by his corner. The referee let it go on way too long.
BruceinFalkirk 11 months ago
@BruceinFalkirk Thank you. I used to watch the Moore/Duran fight regulatory. By the 8th Moore was basiclly slumping onto Duran. His punches had no sitng left. And when Moore is declared done by the ref, Moore, with his eye swollen, doesnt argue with the ref. The stoppage was necessary! Letting that go any further would have been criminal!
POTATER1228 11 months ago
@POTATER1228
It should never have gone as far it did. Moore could barely see at the end of round 7 and was a sitting target.
BruceinFalkirk 11 months ago
@luker213 but you are certainly wrong on this one. There's no point when superiority is established beyond all doubt and one has virtually no chance to win. You could argue that Duran could have tripped on his laces and knocked himself out I guess. Moore's life WAS in fact compromised by the beating Duran gave him subsequent to the knockdown. Do you think its just coincindence that so many boxrs die so young in weird circs? OF COURSE NOT its cos of the brain damage they suffer in the ring.

@b52gf16c I have his record and duran was a great conditioned panamanian devil but not in the top 10 of all time pound for pound. The people who rate him in the top ten take consideration his over 100 wins and he fought like a fighter from the 30's and 40's so for the cigar smoking old fogies,he's a legand but Hearns beat him so bad and leonard gave him an embarressing boxing lesson so bad and viruet at lightweight should have gotten the win AND benitez was so dominating over duran.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@b52gf16c The best fighters duran fought basically beat him and the others he beat but went long rounds with them, dejesus, viruet, etcMoore and Barkley were fucking BUMS!!!!!!!!!!Don't make me laugh. The best fighters ever pound for pound were:Robinson,Ali,Leonard,Armstrong,Jones(for 5 yrs),Mayweather(you can call him gay but he's undefeated in 4 weight classes,Manny can't even give that type of stat!)
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@DrSamuelLoomis you rate Duran as a bum, Freddie Roach rates him higher than Manny Pacquiao.Indeed most knowledgable followers of boxing rate him as as one of the top 3 fighters who ever lived. Mayweather is a cowardly, dumb, punk nigger- who cares about his boxing? All he ever does is run away, No one will even mention him 10 years after he's retired. People will talk about Duran the same as Robinson and Ali-as long as boxing exists.
michaelkan1 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 Freddie Roach is brain dead. His opinion doesn't matter. Floyd is better than that chump Duran. You know it that's why you hate Floyd and use racial slurs. He brags, talks shit and wins every time he steps in the ring. And lol @ higher than Pacquiao, like that is some big accomplishment.
DrSamuelLoomis 8 months ago
@DrSamuelLoomis You're in the minority of one Dr. Feelgood.I guess the rest of the world(the boxing world)is crazy and your the sane one right?
michaelkan1 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 He is a litle out of touch calling duran a bum BUT,duran was a little overrated because he lost to all the great fighters in each weight,Dejesus, viruet - lightweight. Leonard - welter, benitez, hearns, super welter, hagler - middle. To all the duran nuthuggers out there,I saw the viruet/duran fight live at the colliseum in 75 and viruet out classed/outfinessed duran for 10 rounds but the duran nutthugging judges gave it to duran. So he lost and struggled in every weight class he fought.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@fadethetrade But of course we can all see the duran/viruet fight on youtube and see for ourselves how easily Duran won. Youre just getting old and cranky. And how do you think Hagler would have done against a prime Holyfield at cruiserweight? Boxed him punch for punch outclassing him at times and still breathing fire after 15 rounds-Somehow I don't think so.
michaelkan1 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 You're wrong. That fight isnt on youtube.youtube has their second fight.I saw the fight live and the rest of the arena agreed that viruet WAS ROBBED> Stop being such a duran nuthugger. He got his arse kicked numerous times and has the distinction of being put into a coma by hearns and only at 154 lbs.He lost in every weight class.Benitez made him look like an amature,Duran's natural weight was not really lightweight ,it was something in between lightweight and welter.junior welter
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@fadethetrade you obviously know very little about boxing and your arguments very childlike-Chavez, Ali, Robinson, Louis, Tyson, Arguello, and every great fighter other than Marciano and Sanchez (who was dead before he was 25) had their "arses kicked" BY your estimation they must all be "over-rated".
michaelkan1 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 You're not reading my posts carefuly, just thinking from your heart.Forget it. Duran was a great fighter but not in the top 10 pound for pound. The self preserve guys were all better.Roy jones would beat duran if jones got down to 148.Mayweather would outpoint duran as easily or even more impressiveley then viruet did in 1975.Can you comprehend this?????
Duran got beat too many times by too many other great fighters with self preservasion skills.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 It's an argument that goes on for decades but the facts remain,as boring as they are,the self preservasion masters are the best fighters with gloves and rules inside the boxing ring, better then the tysons, marcianos, louis's foremans, durans etc, etc. The robinsons, ali's mayweathers, leonards come up ahead of the brawling boxer/punchers.Sorry,Accept the facts given to you by a pro, you'll sleep better at night. No reason to respond, you can't keep up with my knowledge.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@fadethetrade Ali and mayweather are defensive fighters with next to no power, Robinson and leonard were offensive powerpunchers. Tyson was a one dimensional bully-duran was a master of defense as well as a KO artist. You're getting all confused. Are you sure you're talking about the same Duran? I mean the one from Panama.
michaelkan1 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 Agreed. Duran was a master boxer/puncher & fantastic defensive fighter. No better in/fighter since the old masters. Duran knew the game inside/out.
SRL said Duran was the best he fought.
The only fighter Freddy Brown compared to the older generation fighters was Duran.
Arcel put him the category with Benny Leonard & Joe Gans.
1saxonwolf 7 months ago
@michaelkan1 Which Mayweather are you talking about when you say Mayweather had no power cause Mayweather jnr was a devestating Puncher at 130.and Tyson in his prime had good boxing skills then later became one dimensional.
barlog20 7 months ago
@michaelkan1 your the stupidest commenter iv ever seen roberto duran fought in his 50s if you didnt know that and mayweather culd never be at roberto durans level he wuld knock maywather out and roberto duran won atleast 103 fights out of 119 and lost like 16 thats not a lot out of 119 fights he still won over 100 fights and he beat suger ray
ps34life321 6 months ago
@ps34life321 You're responding to someone else's comment you idiot.
michaelkan1 6 months ago
@fadethetrade
SWAG1122 7 months ago
@SWAG112
Some fans like watching brawls. Some fans like watching the best technicians.
In truth, more fans like watching Mayweather than they do Pacquiao as he always sells more PPVS
You know, guys like you speak for yourself. Not boxing
PacquiaoEPO 6 months ago
@PacquiaoEPO
ok here u go retarded motherfucker..the only reason mayweather fights sell alot now is because dey wana see him finally loose..not because they wana see him duckin and dodgin...most of his fights people b booing n shit so please kid...aggressive fighters will always b the ones remembered and thought of as champions with heart...and duran beat leonard cuz he hit too damn hard and was very aggressive...sugar said it himself...so strong offense can beat a good defense u dumb fuck
SWAG1122 6 months ago
@PacquiaoEPO I dont know about that. LOL. I know alot of people that order Floyd's fights because they wanna see him get knocked out.
philosopha7 5 months ago
"aggressive offense WILL beat a good defense."
And has made his name beating other brawlers
PacquiaoEPO 6 months ago
@PacquiaoEPO no offence but y bring this up in a duran fight?
ps34life321 6 months ago
Respond to this video...
truth is, Pacquiao never looks good against anyone with decent defense. He usually struggless.
Why he's always matched with brawlers
PacquiaoEPO 6 months ago
@michaelkan1 Actually,I can't even imagine what a schmuck you are to make that comment about a fight you were probably not even born yet to see and the youtube viruet duran fight is their SECOND FIGHT.You're an asshole...
fadethetrade 8 months ago
@fadethetrade I wondered how after you'd lost the argument it would take you to resort to name calling. I refer you to my previous comment- "Childlike"
michaelkan1 8 months ago
@michaelkan1 He's not even close.Duran was like a fighter fromthe 30's and 40's and those cigar smoking fogies pick him for the top 5 but he didnt belong in the top 10.Duran was a great fighter but not as good as alot of people say because he lost almost every great fighter he fought,The moore and barkley fight were too overrated fighters and he thumbed moore and barkley might have won that fight because duran only really won the two rounds he knocked barkley down,1st and the 11th.
fadethetrade 8 months ago
At about 3:13 check out the liver shot by Duran. Moore's legs are just about paralyzed, after that the knockdown was sure to follow. This punch was as violent as they come, unlike the Barkley knockdow wich required 4 perfectley placed puches, this was a one shotter.
Few fighters commanded the loyal following as Duran. Like in the Barkley fight, just listen to the crowd!!

Duran, One of the most incredible fighters of all time.
He basically made Davey Moore Null and Void.
All of his losses were in his later years.
In his prime, he was the best.
Definitely a warrior!!!!

Besides the one with Leonard.
nusucker 1 year ago
Duran quitted against Leonard because of Sugar Ray´s clowning around and humiliation. That dosen´t make him a quitter, a quitter is someone who quits always, who is nothing but a joke who quits every fight. Tell me two fights Duran quitted?
nusucker 1 year ago
u told me i had so many so i actually checked on this and was very suprised. i found it even funnier that your lame ass is arguing to me about some comment that i made and was directed at someone who is not you lol. And i never said he didnt quit against leonard cuz he did. he also beat leonards ass lol. so get off my nuts ok. my comment i made was directed at someone and a response to them. Most great boxers have a horrible moment or defeat in their careers. some dont come back. he did.
smokeRocks509 1 year ago
all his technique broke down and he got launched.
nonphixional1 1 year ago
Oh and quit? Do you mean like this? "Duran quit in the fight with Leonard"? You know that it is the past that Duran fought Leonard and thats why i used quitted he quitted against Leonard, it is already the past, it already happened think. Wow, and you wanna play "English" teacher with me, haha, your pathetic.

The Sports Illustrated cover leading up to this fight had a picture of Davey Moore in a boxing stance and it read 'Bracing for Duran's Last Stand".
They said it would be the end of Duran's career.
