@TheBonusTrip let me clarify. I agree hes an americana and folk artist. What I was saying was I hope a mainstream country label doesn't eventually pick him up. I'm tired of seeing artists who bring an enormous amount of originality to the scene get swooped into the mainstream scene.

@TheBonusTrip Americana is definitely a crossover into country. Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, and Willie Nelson can all be considered as americana artists, and (obviously) country artists. It's unfortunate that nowadays "country" is persistently categorized as only that mainstream crap when it's nothing like the country our granddads listened to. This song sounds like it could come strait out of Neil Young's "Old Ways" album which is definitely country. I mean it's called Old Ways for God's sake.

Such a hauntingly beautiful song! I heard it on the radio one day, and didn't realize how much I loved it until I woke up the next morning and couldn't get it out of my head! Then, I went crazy trying to figure out what the name of the song was and who sang it. LOL The pedal steel is definitely what takes this song over the top!

@scbrooster like it or not Tobacco was the first cash crop that america had, and specifically where i am from cigarettes and tobacco provide a lot of income for the economy, and a lot of ppls life depend upon it, and for you to be completely ignorant of this is sad. Everyone knows that smoking has negative side effects, but it is someones choice to smoke, if they should make that choice it should have no effect on you
