Although just been listening to the chieftains and theres a tune they do named the kerry polka which sounds nothing like this!! the same tune as this is on the pogues box set as the kerry polka so.......... fuck knows!!

It's not quite Salmon Tails, though it is very similar. But to be fair, I don't actually know what it is. On 'Just Look Them In The Eye and say Pogemahone' the tune is credited as 'The Kerry Polka', but it definitely isn't the Kerry Polka either. I suspect it's probably the Pogues taking Salmon Tails' and exercising a bit of artistic license. Whichever way, they did a good job of it anyway so never mind.
