The key to getting a video to have no dislikes is to never discuss it, on any other great video the minute somebody mentions that there's no dislikes, bam, it's over. so for the sake of the good videos with no dislikes out there, celebrate it silently, don't worry, you don't need to tell us, we all noticed it too.
It`s just a simple fact; No band could follow them. Master Page is showing off his wizardry in step with a Les Paul, John Bonham is hammering the drums and causing a earthquake. John Paul Jones is laying down the backbone with steller bass lines
and Robert Plant is delivering the vocals with heart and soul.
Nothing can stain the Holy Name Led Zeppelin: THE HAMMER OF THE GODS.
I'm not a young woman anymore, but I swear every time I watch what Jimmy does with his guitar in the last few seconds of this clip I feel like I'm 18 again. LOL
Wow, I used to listen to this version on record all of the time when I was a teen, I love this version!!!! Always wondered if they had the concert footage to this song, never could understand why this wasn't included in the original version of the movie, Love it!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for helping get this video somewhere with a lot of view and what surprises me is that this video has no dislikes, and this tells me that the Led Zeppelin faith still live ON. Rock n' Roll.
@cherifuji It doesn't surprise me at all that there are no dislikes on the Celebration Day video, but now I see that there is one :( Musta been an alien of some sort. Anyhow, what's not to like???? Except maybe John Paul's famous onion shirt LOL
While the song is live, I would say 95% of this footage is from Shepparton Studios...complete with people at the side of stage, someone throwing confetti, and flashing cameras. Notice there is no cameraman in the front row at MSG during the audience shots.
@caiojunio Gosh, I'm glad you came on to point that out to us blinkered idiots. You've certainly tainted my view of Zep now, those darned frauds that they are.
The Beatles will always be one of the best if not the best rock and roll bands. But They can never get down n dirty like Zep did. Hence why i think Zeppelin is a few steps higher then the Beatles.
We don't need no stinking effects pedals. All you need is a Marshall stack, genuine Gibson Les Paul - no chambered bodies, please - some years strangling the neck of the thing and you are good to go.
And also thank you cherifuji for uploading this. I've never seen this. Don't wanna get into the whole Page 'sloppy` argument, but, I'll forgive him anything coz of the tunes. You got what you got on the night. Sometimes tight, sometimes a bit sloppy. But backing up all that was a brilliantly creative guitarist with his own style & songs & albums. No disrespect to him, but would you rather be a technically superb robot like Steve Vai for instance, or a God with a legacy like Jimmy....?
God bless YouTube! The lost footage! Over the years the live 'Song Remains The Same` version of Celebration Day has become my favourite Led Zep track. Never rated the album version, but live it rocks, never tire of it. The second solo differs from the album version but it's good to see it played at last! Always wondered why it didn't make the film.He may be sloppy, but Page will always be my number 1.Have tighter, technically superior guitarists got his presence, riffs, edge and back catalogue? No!
the live vesion of this song is better that the studio version but the both kick ass and chech out jimmy page with metallica, jeff beck, and ronnie wood doing train kept a rolling
I don't mean to nit-pick though, and I'm thankful to cherifuji for posting - I love this version too, and obviously I'm a hard-core Zep fan. I just hate to see such a magnificent musical moment kind of taken off the official record by a remastering job. Any dinosaurs out there know what I'm talking about? Well...either way, check out my channel for some good dark blues if that's your thing. I'm sure you'll hear some Jimmy influences...hope you like it.
This is from the re-mastered version. The second guitar solo on the original SRTS version of this song was one of my all-time favorite guitar solos. I was so mad when they changed it that I fired off an irate e-mail to Kevin Shirley, who did the remastering. Surprisingly, he got right back to me, and very politely explained this is the version they had film for. Nice of him to reply, but they should have done a montage and kept the original solo. Check the original and see.
@stevecoscia123 Yeah, the last of the 3 shows - July 29, 1973. I have the bootleg, and it's note-for-note the same as the original version. So there was no studio trickery or overdubs on that one. Man, it was beautiful. Just a masterful jaw-dropping high-speed solo that came back into the groove PERFECTLY. Well, at least you can still find plenty of the old versions on Amazon or wherever. Thanks for responding.
This was music at its fucking best, how the fuck do we go from living gods to teenage wannabes who sing about Friday and celebs wearing jeans they tried on @ the mall, along with little canadian eunuchs. Music is dead, all we have left are these gods, Led Zeppelin, all hail Page, Plant, Jones, and Bonham rest his soul.
