Its really not that tough & the engine felt kinda weak for such a heavy vehicle. That nice pickup u saw is just the benefits of having a 5 speed auto & the engine did have a nice grunt sound.

did seems like 3/4 throttle. My 2005 seems to accelerate much quicker than this.

The engine may sound good but I honestly don't like em. They pull good through 1st and 2nd but after it just feels strained.

It just drives all over the place on the highway. So difficult to keep in a straight line and the Live Rear is very jerky to any little road imperfection. Maybe the newer 1s R a different story.

Heck, It was far easier to maintain my 96 Explorer in a str8 line at 80mph. And that uses Torsion Bars and Leafs springs but it has Rack and Pinion steering.

@Intechdude300 Well, ours is a different story, very well planted and good power through all rpms. It is alot better than the 04 expedition we looked at when were getting rid of our Windstar. My mom hated the Expedition. We didnt even look into a Tahoe, idk why, I was like 10-11 at the time. (in 04) So, the Sequoia is the best. Maybe you just like Imports but, the Sequoia are the best.

@Motorfordtoyota 08's with independent Rear.

New sequoias do have more power than current Expeditions but the ride should be similar to the 2003 & newer Expedition as the Front and rear Suspension is quite similar especially the 07 and newer as Ford upgraded to a more modern link setup in back.. They both ride like a car.

All current Tahoe's are still a mess on the road but a bit more steady on road than these 1st gen Sequoia's.

@Motorfordtoyota My dad said we didnt look at the Tahoe because its a GM, and that meant at the time very unreliable. He said you couldnt even give one to us, and we HATED how the armada looked so we didnt even look, thats why we bought the Sequoia!

@Motorfordtoyota ya gm is unreliable i just got a cobalt for fun it was 09 wih automatic windows and everything we got it for only 6 grand clean title.... it doesnt have problems yet but i know it will it is a horrible quality car... i have this gen sequoa i dont like the interior so i wish i waited for the new one... and have a tahoe new horrble quality also

@solarlightning haha, Most new GMs have excelent fit and finish. Its the older one. After the 80s and before 2010, I probably wouldnt have one. Actually, the current gen Sequoia's interiors are far behind the 1st gens. Toyota is down grading, while GM is upgradeing. For the Cobalt, try a Cruze, you will be impressed, very. The Cruze is MILES ahead of the Cobalt or Cavalier. People in Europe like them. Thats saying something!!

@Motorfordtoyota ya but their becomeing more expensive have you been in the new sequioa its interior is 10x better than a tahoes ve also sat in the new one and thy are suuuuppppperrrr slow the sequioa is alot faster... like the cruze starts at 17 k for 1 thousand more ill go buy a camry accord or malibu

@Intechdude300 i dont like these or the tahoe... i have the new tahoe and this..... the only thing i dont lioke about this is the interior since thy didnt change it by 08 i wish i waited and got the new gen cuz that things a beast. the tahoe has a hard plastic interior tht cracks and the chrome cuts you and the only nice thing is the looks and engine sound

The 4.6L version not well, the 5.4L very well and exceeds ( In the Expeditions) . What really helped the Sequoia is the 5 spd auto.

Well the 2003 Expedition rides like a Car cause of it's independent Rear = the Rack & pinion steering. Rides Firmly, planted, and the steering is also firm & doesnt sway around. Very Easy to drive

I found the Sequoia quite hoppy in the rear, Rode all over the place & was so hard to keep in a str8 line. I drove it for 30 min or so that day & it was stressful

@yellowcow13 Except hes just being biased. Ive been in both. Our Sequoia is extremely planted with a smooth ride. The power (even with the older 4 speed) is very good. Infact, I bet the 4.7 4 speed in the Sequoia would beat a 5.4 Expedition. Either way, you get a much more reliable product from Toyota.

@Motorfordtoyota Now having been in both SUVs i can say the Sequoia is bouncy and has little low end power. The Expedition feels nimble and the ride is almost europien in the way its lush but firm. Also the Fords interior feels very nice compared to some of the parts in the Toyota.

@yellowcow13 Now thats a complete lie. The Ford's interior was and still is one of the worst in the class. Yeah the Toyota uses hard touch materials but its well screwed together, it desnt come apart.
