I saw this film when it first came out I was 9 but My older cousin took us it was epic for the time. Still have the sound track too. What can I say I'm a metal chick.
This is a soundtrack that just keeps on giving. Since the movies release my favorite songs have constantly changed through the years. Happy 30 year Anniversary HM!
The film and magazine is influential you know as the magazine influenced many films like Avatar, Blade Runner, Fifth Element and so much more. Even James Cameron is a huge fan of this movie and the magazine as you can tell how Avatar was like a big screen issue of HM magazine and even Pandora with the creatures, villains and that kind of thing are out of the magazine.
1000 thank you's!!!!! I've been looking for this song for a long time. I LOVE this awesome, classic tune. Heavy Metal is one of the BEST soundtracks ever. Oh, BTW, turn the volume ALL the way up and rip off the knob.......
So Bill you a kid of the 80's too? awesome so am i, 29 years old here. Did you had a crush on Taarna as a kid? i did when i was 12, i was into her with other crushes at that age like Nurse and Minerva Mink from Animaniacs, Teegra from Fire and Ice after rewatching the movie, Demona from Gargoyles, Poison Ivy from Batman and more.
Do you think she's as hot as Cheetara from Thundercats, Adora from She-Ra, Teela from He-Man, Scarlett from GI Joe etc. in terms of 80's animated chicks to bone?
Loved this movie since i was 12 back in 93 when i watched it on TBS thanks to my city's TV guide along with Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, American Pop and Rock and Rule, they ruled my world. I even taped Rock and Rule off one of my city's video stores in it's uncut MGM tape then bought Vampire Hunter D and Robot Carnival at 13 and soon bought HM when it hit video at 15 and American Pop at 17. I even bought the soundtrack at 14.
Well i saw it uncut and uncensored when it finally hit video in 96 when i was 15. Do you also remember Rock and Rule, Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival and American Pop too?
I love it too! if you like Heavy Metal, i recommend these similar movies you might enjoy: Creepshow, Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Blade Runner, Ninja Scroll, The Fifth Element, Avatar, Willow, Wicked City, Fist of the North Star (animated version), Fantastic Planet, Fire and Ice, The Dark Crystal, Twilight Zone The Movie, Princess Mononoke, Starchaser, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds (aka Warriors of the Wind), South Park The Movie, Urotsukidoij Legend of the Overfiend, Conan etc
Seen the movies i recommended especially Akira and Ghost in The Shell? I saw Willow in theaters when i was 7 and loved it. Other similar movies to HM i also recommend are: Vampire Hunter D 1 & 2, Metropolis (2001 animated), The Neverending Story, Rock and Rule, American Pop, Wizards, Fritz The Cat, Heavy Traffic, Hey Good Looking, Golgo 13 The Professional, Pink Floyd The Wall, Lightyears, Highlander, BeastMaster, Princess Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas etc.
I can't find a single bad song on this soundtrack.

@Johnlindsey289 Hey, sorry I forgot to answer you. Yeah. A kid of the 80's, teen of the 90's.
I'd put Taarna right up there, along with Jessica Rabbit, and then April O'Neil from 'TMNT', Rogue from X-Men...and those you said.
Ah, the 80's. haha

@Queensrychefreak It's one of my top favorite movies of all time. Definitely in my top 5. But as far as animated films, it's #1 for me.
Really great soundtrack too. A couple of the songs weren't uploaded to Youtube so I did so.
