I made a science Fiction Webisode series called Fatal Mind Check out my pilot! Go to my channel and select, Fatal Mind Pilot. It's a cyberpunk Thriller!
It's set in the near future. They use "milk plus"; The Ludovico technique: An experimental aversion therapy for rehabilitating criminals within two weeks. It's not just as simple as sci-fi. Fot the sixties standard it was a critic to western culture. Let`s say it's behaviourist sci-fi cinema.
yeeeaahh but master directer guy would have done way better with all the amazing actors he was going to hire! Lots of cool things that I can't name :( but they didn't have enough money for their extremely long film....... whhhy/.
Dune was so original, it turned into a cult classic. Silent Running was kind of disturbing, science fiction horror; of destroying agriculture space ships as artificial foods was invented--it is an ecology statement of Earth. A Clockwork Orange shows a dystopia, where in the future they experience every fantasy, but the rogues are reprogrammed, wild. The Thing, the mystery monster movie. Brazil, another Dystopia.
@InfinityWard312 Dune, the movie, is so original that it influenced the future of science fiction thought: It is not only about being published, editors see thousands of stories that don't make it, it is also about being able to popularize it.
@InfinityWard312 Thank you for your feedback, I have read and watched a lot of science fiction and we see something special on the survivors that survive the public opinion; and you don't like Dune, good for you.
@WOWJBEOWULF I never said I did not like Dune I am just saying I hope you are not one of those people who say ignorant statements like if it was not for Dune there would be no Star Wars or Blade Runner. Idiots who say that are sadly mistaken. Dune was not the first space opera neither was Star Wars and Blade Runner was not the first movie to show a futuristic dystopia in a mega city full of technology, robots, cyborgs, and etc. The earliest movie I know of is Metropolis, came out in 1927 Germany
@InfinityWard312 Eh... I highly doubt people are being ignorant when making statements like, "If it were not for Dune, blah, blah..." Dune was made in an era where science fiction wasn't even a stand-alone genre. Back than, people used bits and pieces of their imagination to fuel their own ideas of the distant future. Frank Herbert was the first man to actually step up and create an entire universe set in science fiction. Dune. So yes, it technically was the first science fiction novel ever.
@InfinityWard312 Also, it isn't ignorance leading people to say that without Dune, Star Wars would have never been made. Star Wars is sadly a cheap rip off of Dune. 90% of Star Wars is stolen copy from Dune. George Lucas used Dune as a very heavy source of inspiration. Why? Because Dune was the first of it's kind. Much like how Lord of the Rings inspired pretty much all fantasy novels.
i actually saw Brazil recently. Good movie. And the idiotic main character is a perfect example for what the higher powers what us to become. Smart enough to do our jobs really well, dumb enough to be unable to acomplish anything else :D
My favorite SCI-FI: Alien series (#1), Star Wars (only old school), Jurassic Park series, The Fifth Element, X-Men, Robocop 1-2, Terminator 1-2, Minority Report, Stalker, Solyaris (1972), Moonraker, 2001:Space Odyssey, Total Recall, Signs, Equilibrium, Contact, Metropolis, Avatar
Underrated SCI-FI I love: Mimic, Serenity, Demolition Man , Lawnmover Man, Strange Days, Ultraviolet, Mission To Mars, The Arrival, The Shadow, FutureSport, DeepStarSix, The Cell, Them, Judge Dredd, Polymorph, Sphere
You forget this little piece of awesome and widely recognized Science Fiction, that has a very popularized book with tons of deeper and double meaning, that has sprouted off dozens and dozens of movies all based around it.
Way bigger than Star Wars, or Star Trek. It's this wonderful little series called "The Bible". It's really a great read. You guys should pick it up. Best SciFi novel ever.
@Jedistarship outter space has stars and planets aswell that had to be created and in the vast endlessnes of the universe earth and our star the sun would be considered "Outer Space" from all the other countless galaxies! Does this mean there is an infinte number of alternative bibles for these other places?
@polarhercules. Absolutely there could be alternative Bibles that talk about all other Cosmic aspects in our universe. But these Bibles if there are any wouldnt be referenced from a Human perspective if you know what I mean. My original point about Stars & Planets mentioned in the bible I was stating that very little has been talked about in the way of anything cosmic literally, except for Stars, Earth (our planet) and the Heavens. What happened to everything else? Not Scifi worthy sorry!

Okay, Silent running, I'll grant you but Dune? It was far too long before you actually got the story established. Basically like the book which I found boring.
The book is considered to be the greatest sci-fi novel of all time, and you found it boring? How? That book was friggin awesome, and Herbert's style of writing is excellent, a less is more approach in descriptions and some compelling dialogue. Literature has no use for you.
Maybe I'll read the book. I got caught up in Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series and wanted to punch myself in the face after every 100 word description of some dress some woman was wearing :\
@Chickidydow What are you, 12? Nobody agrees on what is good and what is bad. You should learn to accept that people have opinions different to your own.
@Chickidydow I found it incredibly boring and still do. And ive forced myself to endure all of the books. Children of dune is my favorite. He did what tolkien did. Used broad strokes to paint his world. A lot like a history book. The secret is that your mind fills in all those holes and makes it much bettre than what was really written. That doesnt mean people who find it boring are somehow "less". Try reading War and Peace sometime..

Silent running looked good but didn't look worth a download
a clockwork orange... hmmm a little too realistic it's scary for sure but a classic
The thing is just a horror in my opinion, the theme has been overdone
Brazil is stunning to look at. All the light colors everywhere I always liked that one
