@LuckyJonn0 Coiling your cable the wrong way can cause little kinks in the wire and annoying loops which stresses the actual wires inside the cable causing it to rip. Throwing the cable 3 feet from the ground on carpet is nothing.
I had to watch the coiling part about 12 times before I understood, but this really works. No more tangles, and now I can throw my cables everywhere! Across the floor, drummer's crotch, McDonald's drive-thru window, and even across small lakes!
Just throw your 120' ethernet cable right into someones router. It'll take some practice, but you'll be jacking into peoples networks from buildings across the street in no time.
@Monso Oh man, being an ex IT guy, that just made my morning. Now off to paint the rest of my music school that I'm about to open. You've just made my day with that visual.
@RevolutionGuitars I bet my brother $20 he couldn't do it with a 15' ethernet cable into our router and catch it on film (he's 11 so that's a shitload of candy for him). He actually managed to make it in once (the 2nd or 3rd throw) but it wasn't seated so it didn't count.
If he actually does it I'm going to lulz all over this bitch.
I'm so stoked to have got my head around this technique, having thought for decades that the approach at 0'16'' was the way to go... just got a 20' Custom Pro PW cable to treat to this lovin' too =)
@Pianoblacks Don't be dense: the net twisting effect from coiling is 0, and that reduces fatigue in the copper fibres inside. THAT is what increases cable life. Dropping from ~3ft in the air won't effect it one way or the other for all practical purposes..
So he teaches us how to extend the life of the cable by coiling it properly then he just throws it on the floor.

My brain has become so much slower since i became a purchaser of cables. I'm such a fucking ediot. Sometimes I eat garbage because i think it's good.

@aaron544 I have no idea what you're talking about, so here is a bunny with a pancake on it's head. (Don't eat it.)

spend months practicing how to coil your cable properly and then just throw that shit on the floor until it breaks

So coiling a cable the wrong way will damage it, but throwing it across the floor has no implications whatsoever?

You wanna do this with that god damn 75' cable I have? Cause I sure don't.
Glockenator 1 year ago 4
@Glockenator for 75' it kinda makes me wonder why it's not on a cable drum? Is there any particular reason?
machinate 1 year ago
@machinate I made it myself.

What is the brand of cable tie shown at the end? It looks like a good solution!
