  • I saw it, 57. It was so lovely! This scene never forgot. imagine it in Cinemascope... Ole!

  • I've never seen the movie or professional show but I was in a play many years ago in camp and we did the PJ Game play. I remember the words to hernando's hideaway all these years. Great song!

  • Love this! the guy at 3:20-3:24 has a small part but GREAT voice

  • @eottoe2001 wow your one old nigga XD

  • I was born 1957. Most musicals even now don't have this level of sophistication. Seeing this on stage would have been terrific. Carol Haney was an amazing dancer/actor/choreographer. They talk about Fosse but she was genius, too. Too bad she died so young.

  • i want to sing this song in my chior or in a play. this is such a great song

  • i am in chorus, and on December 15, we did this song. But, a man fell and broke the chair he was sitting on. The song practicably stopped when it happened.

  • The show choir did this song in showcase, lots of difference, I like their version better.

  • we r doing this song for show choir this year i think

  • I'm LOL'ing at 0:51 XD

My school just did this musical so i'm laughing xD

  • Watching this movie with my family right now (computer room's right next to the living room), and this song came on. Only part of the movie I really like so far. This song's a classic!

  • Doing this show at Countryside Highschool... might be in it... blehhhh.

  • Oh my goodness. I played the bass clarinet in the musical pit for this play when I was in high school, and I loved this song!

  • my sister was in this play at the theatre, her best friend played this character!!!

    i get to sing "A place where no one knows your face" the second time with 2 other girls sing the two other parts =}

  • look up on beatport Giulio Lnt- Hernandos Hideaway its a remix of this song :D

  • Hard to believe Haney never made another film. She returned to Broadway for a number of shows and died in 1964 of pneumonia at the age of 39.

Side note -- John Raitt is Bonnie's father.

  • Our first performance of "The Pajama Game" is tonight! Can't wait. I'm the guy who says "Pooooopsie"!

  • I played the main character's dad for my school play it was great

  • I like this version:)

  • My school did this play this weekend, and I actually think my school's rendition was better, but I guess it's all an opinion.

  • load of bullshit my dad making me watch this

  • It's funny in our play. Our Sid is shorter than almost every single girl but has a great voice.

  • why does it say "Chop Suey" at 2:09. Its my favorite song and when i saw it there i was like, wtf.

  • lolness, My schools doing this play for our musical. its actually quite fun!

  • done the best in the movie snatch

  • Very contagious tune from The Pajama Game. Love it!

  • omg! I'm so excited to do this! I just got the role of Gladys at my high school ^_^

thoughts on making "hernando's" a rolled throat scratch?

  • I remember this great song when I heard it in 1957. However, I was disappointed to hear a version that came out in 2001. All the girls were singing this tune (to different words) but one singer sang something quite different which didn't seem to have any tune to it and ruined the whole song! Great to hear the original!

  • the lyrics are much different on broadway.... i was there when there were taping for the new fosse movie that came out recently

  • El escondite de Hernando... Olé....

  • Carol Haney's Steam Heat performance ftw! (:

  • we'er doing the pajama game for our musical at school.

  • we are kinda too. just this song though. and i got the solo. w00t w00t.

  • like no one has ever heard of it though. it should be our job to make it all awesome! lol i tried out but now i decided to do stagecrew

  • @choirgirl2012 it might be a little late to wish you good luck. I was in The Pajama Game in 1999 my senior year. It was a lot of fun and i hope you and the rest of the cast had as much fun as I did.

  • @palmerhusky it was super fun! yeah it was like a year ago almost. lol but it was a blast!

  • @choirgirl2012 it might be a little late to wish you good luck. I was in The Pajama Game in 1999 my senior year. It was a lot of fun and i hope you and the rest of the cast had as much fun as I did.

  • @choirgirl2012 same, here gal. i just might be sid, too, if i get lucky.

  • this is one of my favorite songs in the pajama game thanks!

  • A real shame that Carol Haney spent such a short time with us. So wonderful and talented.

  • I second that, but without Carol Haney, there would not have been a Shirley MacLaine, right?

  • i play this song on keybord this is so beautiful

  • omg we have to play this song in marching band...when we go to disney world

  • thats hilarious...

  • iLove this so much

  • I have to sing this it's fun lol

  • i have to learn this for an audition tomorrow... its not as easy as i thought haha i have 23 hours... minus sleep & school times ahhh why am i such a procasionator

  • I wish this version were on iTunes...It's the only really really REALLY good one -_-

  • It is on iTunes...it's just under a Doris Day album, and kind of misplaced because it's really Carol Haney and it's taken directly from the movie. :)

  • love it.

  • Classic sample!

  • I love the version Ella Fitzgerald did to this song, though I prefer this version more. It's catchy.

  • 2:33 is the part i'm singing at the concert

  • this was my junior musical in high school...had an awesome time doing it...I believe it was 1999

  • oh i saw the play!!! and when i looked for the movie on dtv it wasn't there then i checked at all the movie rental stores does anyone know where i can find it???

  • u can find it on netflix i rented it last month

  • were singing this in my choir i love it

  • Love this song - I was Gladys for my HS production of this musical and this was my favorite part of the whole thing.

  • lol i love this movie

  • can some one tell me the lyrics to this song!

  • What is the excuse for not showing this and its boilerplate, Damn Yankees, on a television movie channel?

    They are EXQUISITE.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS.

  • ♥

  • OMG we had to sing this at our old school! OH GOD those memories O_o

  • aren't school musical memories wonderfully brain ingraving?

  • YES XD

  • Carol Haney could be nicknamed ¨The Carol Burnett¨ of the 1950s¨. She has that wacky

comical personality that few actresses can

    portray.

  • Yes!...along with being quite a great dancer.

  • this girl is creepy as shit

  • My favorite scene in the movie is in the sewing room. It has Eddie Foy Jr. and the heavyset older woman in it. It might be called, "I Will Trust Her." It is amazing how light on her feet is the woman.

  • Yea. It's called "Never Be Jealous again"

  • And it's a very funny number, except that some of the more risqué lyrics had to be cleaned up for 1957 movie audiences.

  • ah, the days just after censors were put to use, no damns no hells, nothing suggestive (for the most part) funny to watch the lyric changes when I have a CD containing all of these singers from when they did the original show. Babe I believe is the only actress not returning for the movie, for obvious reasons.

  • Amaaaaaazing.(:

  • What happened to all the other John Raitt stuff on Youtube like the clips from the Ed Sullivan Show where he was singing songs from Carousel?

  • once a year day was spectacular

  • OMG the choreography in that looked so difficult! Like, spinning down that hill?

  • this was my favorite song in the movie

  • we're using real fire too. we had to change it to lighters unfortunately because the matches never lasted long.

  • AMAZING!

  • one of the best songs in the play

  • my school, is doing this play, and i'm in the pit orchestra, and i cant even play this song... i have to watch it, this is like the best song ever

  • omg I love this play! I was in it and I played one of the mangers!

  • wow...this is kind of strange. my school is doing this musical in about 3 weeks & im in the pit.

  • do you have once a year day???

    love this

  • Do you have Once-A-Year-Day...?

  • thanks so much for posting!! im in this and this is my fave song! im like obsessed with the tango!

  • Bob Fosse just did the choreography. Someone

else was the director. I checked.

  • This movie was directed by Bob Fosse in 1956,

and it has his trademark. He later directed

CABARET and ALL THAT JAZZ. amopng others.

    Great original choreography.

  • George Abbott and Stanley Donen directed The Pajama Game but yes he did direct Cabaret and All that Jazz as well as Sweet Charity!

  • I believe Fosse's first cinema directorial debut was the film SWEET CHARITY, 1969, followed by CABARET, 1972. He had choreographed many shows & movies before that, this being one of them.

  • I checked. Fosse was not the director, but

the choreography dominates the scenes, and

they have his erotic style of dancing.

  • Yes, and it was the innovative way Bob Fosse had of moving folks around on stage as well as on screen, that lead to the "Steam Heat" number from this show garnering him his real first serious notice. Love the way he underplays the choreography on "I'm Not At All In Love", treating the 'co-workers' almost as seperate instruments of an orchestra in their attitudes and motions. He always impresses me, usually by NOT resorting to the old tried and true, cliche or kick-line stuff. Fosse is the best.

  • Fosse's just got this way of being a bit off beat in his style, but always amazing.

  • ...where are they doing this (in the set)? My school did this and it was in Sid's office for the first part and Hernando's Hideaway.

  • they are where she locks up the boss' books in another part of the factory and then they are at hernando's hideaway.

  • thankies!

  • can you upload Carol Haney doing Steam Heat from the movie? Thanks
