"the radio receiver must be built on a breadboard because I could never get it to work when building it on a circuit board or similar."
Did you ever think that maybe your just better at breadboarding than actual circuit construction? I'm almost the opposite. Almost anything (except very simple circuits) don't work on the breadboard for me but on perf board it works beautifully.
I have several devices that use the LM386 amp IC, one is that toy megaphone that I hacked and I have others. it is pretty powerful if you give it power. im surprised that such a small IC can drive that big speaker.
Hold any IR remote up to the antenna wire and press any button. You should hear the IR code chirping and clicking. That's a little known method of testing them. Radio Shack wants you to but an Infra-red card and that costs a few dollars. Any AM radio tuned off station will work too.
I dont really see the point of and all band receiver since you would probably not be able to tell what the heck you are receiving and technical think its impossible.
Actually, receivers with oscillator sections in them can be detected. They generate carriers. As you tune such a radio, the frequency of its generated carrier changes. To demonstrate this, bring two superhet AM radios near each other, and by tuning one across the band at some point you'll hear a whistle or "swoosh" on the second set.

I actually have that IR detector card and yes IT SUCKS. ill just use a radio set to AM mode. works even better

Cool you like to fuck around with this stuff just like me! hah
Do you have a schematic?
FelixTheHouseFreak 2 years ago
I have a schematic for the radio part somewhere, and the 386 amp schematic came from somewhere. I built that part a while back.

@CassetteMaster can you give the schematic?

So it doesnt tune? it picks up everything at once?
Anyway awesome, also the song at the end sounds good, sounds familiar.
My own attempts at building lm386 amplifiers havent always gone well XD.

u mean they can detect that device he has?
damusician 3 years ago
LOL! They are all knowing.
AllAmericanFiveRadio 3 years ago
Nope, Its impossible for them to detect any receiving equipment, Usley ppl are cought by braging about what they do ur giving out info to a source .
