I've studied all of "the black arts" and found Lavey's form of Satanism to be an absolute crock of utter shit. These people try so hard to be evil, but in truth have no idea where to start. Crowley was also not a Satanist. He was a very high level black magician. His art had nothing at all to do with the devil or black robes and fake horns. Read the Grimoire Verum, or the Lesser Key of Solomon if you want a real scare.

A good share of his reputation owes thanks to the tabloids of that time, as well as a good thanks to his (what I gather from his "Confessions") enjoying offending society. Book 4 is a good start. Or The Book of the Law. However, it does get confusing. He never wrote with the novice in mind. Alot of his work still leaves me scratching my head at times, plus it's also very cryptic and alot of it can be taken many different ways. He is however, the only "black magician" of the modern age. Lavey was a phony and a cash hound.

Yes although I'm currently studying The Black Pullet, Abramelin Magick, The Grand Grimoire and a few others. I would highly recomend reading anything you can find by Crowley. They are timeless masterpieces.
