hey when i make a drum and im done recording it it sounds way off when im playing it back even when im hitting the keys on point any help?? all the other instruments play back fine except the drums idk
Do you know how to change the tempo of certain instruments. Eg, my beat tempo is set to 90, but ive got a drum roll and i want the tempo to be faster, so is there any way i can just change the tempo of that particular instrument?
@BitchImMikeLoooowry Don't change the tempo per se, there's no way I know of to do that although that would be cool. You make the notes shorter and double them, or change ultrabeat's resolution in to 1/32 instead of 1/16 or 1/16 instead of 1/8 depending on how you have it set, that will make it faster. Twice as many notes in a faster time. 1/32 is like you are playing the drums twice the speed of the tempo usually used for snare roll downs and shit.
When you were playing with the pop piano strings, I was on it too, but yours sounds different and much better, i couldnt find any note that sounded like the notes you were playing, I was wandering why that would be? Do u have to change a setting or something?
@BitchImMikeLoooowry You know there is a way to transpose keys in logic but I don't remember how... i'd google for it. I'm a piano player so I know minor/major/etc scales in all keys. I learned it myself from Major Thirds Scale Phobia. It's a good program you should cop if you wanna easily find scales. Remember alot of old gangster beats (I.e. wutang, pac, odb?) They used major keys. Well those kind of beats are hot but typical west coast beats use Minor scales such as C minor , F minor, D min
@CAMROCKSTAR11 It's just a default channel strip setting. Start a new soft instrument track and on the left on your channel strip above the EQ box there is a button that says settings, click and hold that down and go to Acoustic Pianos -> Pop Piano and Strings. Btw you have a good idea. How the hell did you know I was using that? This video is mad blurry lol :P
@percashic cant do it in ultra to my knowledge other than playing with the ultrabeat synth controls... I create seperate tracks for the kick and snare and hi hat then another track for misc.
@percashic when you setup utrabeat choose "multi output" not "stereo" then in the mixer you can click the down arrown in the corner and have all your drum channels separated onto mixer sub tracks. You can ad effects here in the insert or use the send return and use the effects in your bus. hope this helps. I just got logic a couple weeks ago but I am a long time DAW user.

one more thing. i created a simple wobble tune out of about ten different notes. its a nice little chorus. but its all in the same rate once ive made it on the piano roll and into the midi. is there any way to chance an individual note into a different rate. or do i have to add in each one separately before I add it into the midi? Do u get what I mean?
@c25ole same rate? you mean speed? You can always select the notes and go to transform and double time them or use the scissor tool to chop the notes up and make sections of smaller notes together for effect. Not sure what you mean though, no

@c25ole First use the pencil tool to create a blank midi region in the arrange window, then double clicking that midi region will ledit you edit it and fill it with notes in piano roll. Hope that helps.

@koolayde1 i just held down shift and selected a group of them and then clicked on the very left of one of the notes and made them all half , then use option + drag to drag the group over and you have made it half time.. im making a seperate hi hat tutorial
@akarc24 ultrabeat sucks and cuts the transient off all drums... they really aren't that bad though... thats what the dynamics and modulation plugins are for

@teacee You lose transients on the start of each audio sample you load into Ultrabeat. You can't do anything about it other than add the exact ms silence to each sample to get around it. This is a well documented problem unfortunately.

Id have to watch the video again but yea most drum beats I do are in ultra beat actually i just chop them up in piano roll -- hi hats I dont do in ultrabeat ... i only get the first pattern down and then manipulate it

Right now I'm using a casio wk 1630 with logic. It's an old/cheap keyboard but I'd like to send all it's sounds over to logic just so there with logics sounds.

Yo I guess I'd want your next vid to be about audio and effects, I already figured out how to convert midi tracks into audio tracks, so I can add speed fades and stuff like that. But if you have some other tips and tricks, to get cool effects that would be sweet. Also I'd like more about ultra beat. I'm not to good with all the options on there. And space designer tutorial. Sorry you don't have to answer all these but they were on my mind! Thanks bro!!!

@Nokstar I think there is a function to do that. Open the piano roll, then click the functions menu, then go to transform, then click humanize. You can set the amount and it "humanizes" the placement and velocity of the track's midi data.

Ultrabeat is shit for drums if you use samples as it cuts the transient off

@LALLZ you can adjust the sample in the editor in ultrabeat, you have a lot of control so you can fix any so called cut offs.

@teacee You lose transients on the start of each audio sample you load into Ultrabeat. You can't do anything about it other than add the exact ms silence to each sample to get around it. This is a well documented problem unfortunately.

haha i dont know which part you meant... I probably meant I dont usually sequence it like that in ultrabeat... I use piano roll editor to manipulate the notes ... Id have to watch the video again but yea most drum beats I do are in ultra beat actually i just chop them up in piano roll -- hi hats I dont do in ultrabeat ... i only get the first pattern down and then manipulate it

Right now I'm using a casio wk 1630 with logic. It's an old/cheap keyboard but I'd like to send all it's sounds over to logic just so there with logics sounds.

Yo I guess I'd want your next vid to be about audio and effects, I already figured out how to convert midi tracks into audio tracks, so I can add speed fades and stuff like that. But if you have some other tips and tricks, to get cool effects that would be sweet. Also I'd like more about ultra beat. I'm not to good with all the options on there. And space designer tutorial. Sorry you don't have to answer all these but they were on my mind! Thanks bro!!!
