My problem is that I use Windows 7 and when recording gameplay, the in-game audio overpowers my voice but Windows 7 doesn't have the same "wave" slider that Windows XP did... surely there must be a way around this problem?

I have a problem, the only way I can use stereo mix is to plug my headset into the mic and speaker ports on the back of the PC except theres a problem. When I try recording in stereo mix I can hear the in-game audio perfectly but my mic is very VERY low, even to the point of which my voice is non-existent, even with me changing the 'Wave' level in volume.

Anyone got a solution for this?

For some reason I don't have the options "Stereo Mix" or "Wave" in my recording control section. The only two boxes that appear in the properties box are Microphone and Line In. Is there any way to change that?

It doesn't work for me with my turtle beaches. I tryed the default mixer device and the headset, it wouldn't work either way. The default card does have the "What U Hear", but when i select the Turtle Beach USB Headset as the mixer device, it doesn't have the "What U Hear" option, and the default one won't work because the microphone is on the headset (but it still will record sound)... any help? :S

@StudioBloxers If you're good with computers you could try writing a third driver which takes input from both and puts em together, otherwise just get an analogue mic, which is what I did.

If you are having the comp audio louder then your mic simply go into volume mixer or what will show you all sounds that are running and turn the sound on that item down. If you are running windows 7 you might not have stereo mix so I would highly suggest using camtasia to fix this problem it never needs stereo mix on and you can set it to record speaker audio.

the problem here is that when you play with your mates and want to record the whole game + gamesounds + friend voices + own voice and select the "stereo mix" or "what you hear" your mates wont be able to hear you and they will hear themselves in their own speakers. For all you vista users its exactly the same idea just moved around abit. you'll find your "Sum" or "stereo mix" as OTG calls it in recording devices (right click the sound icon) - right click sum set as default device.

Then to un-mute the mic right click the sound icon again this time clicking on playback devices select speakers>properties then click the levels, all the relevant controls will be in there.

Thanks for this dude, I've only been using Hypercam and Fraps to record the voice and gameplay. Though it was working out decent enough, it was always a hope to see if both were recording or not. Though I did recently find out about Stereomix, and only started using it recently, I was unsure of how it should be set out. So thanks for showing that part, really has helped out already. :)
