i am a black girl who has just moved from london to nenagh in tipperary. i really would love to learn how to play all these irish instruments. Do some sessions in the pubs. do you think people would find it strange as i am black.
Strange... Maybe but I've seen it before not extremely uncommon o.O I did the games for 3 or 4 years and there were a few black dudes that competed, guess its all about where ya hale from? They were Johnson and one was an Owens like me so he had just as much lineage to be there as me =oD
@thejenuk1 why does it really matter what anyone else thinks, says or does? Music can affect the seat of emotions and if you cannot play and do just that, then maybe you should take up cribbage... just saying
jayses will ye stop telling this guy how to pronounce stuff. he plays bodhran as good as any i hear at kayleez. ceilis? ceilithe? is cuma liom. he even has red hair. Come on lads ye remind me of my english teacher telling me donkey is pronounced dawnkey not dunkey like i say it. hey boston dude i just bought one cos you make it look good and easy. and i drink bulmers (not magners) not guinness.
Very nice ... I'm Mexican and I have a traditional irish band here... I'm irish tenor banjo player.... I like the way you play the bodhran.... have a greet time and keep rockin' the bodhran...
Lets take a closer look at your spoons! Do you have one handle but two "spoon-pieces"? I play two individual dessert spoons and also the Irish wooden spoons which are a complete single unit. Never seen one like yours, if you'll pardon the expression..
ar u irish because if u were you would know that gaelic is used inreference to gaelic football which is a sport and irish is the language only yanks call irish gaelic
Gaeilge (pronounced phonetically as gahel-ga) is the Irish language, not Gaelic.
Gaelic as an adjective means "pertaining to the Gaels", including languages and culture which would include all forms of Goidelic languages - or "Gaelic languages", customs and sport. It is incorrect to say that you speak "gaelic".
Disclaimer: I am a native Irish speaker from the west of Ireland.
@IrishKanuck That was pretty fine playing of both instruments. haha, couldn't help but notice the PO2 rank stuck in the backround next to the irish flag. Very nice.
Thanks so much for doing these vids. I love 'em. I finally got my first Bodhran today. I've been a kit drummer for about 25 years, but this is a whole new world. Thanks, and your vids are going to played to death on MY computer!
Nice spoon stuff! I played a piece with spoons with my percussionensemble we used just kitchen spoons but this really IS an instrument isn't it....it looks as if this is way easyer to play than the normal spoons. That could also be because you're really really good lol :D
Starting to play the bodhran at the moment, your intructions really help, thanks!
Wow! Love the spoons! I have been a drummer for about 13 years, but have only been playing the Bodhran since Christmas. Do you have any suggestions of some good music to practice with/get inspiration from?
Thanks for your videos, they have really helped me understand the basics!
what a tune love inspiration. haha
