@PivotB3stZ You misunderstood. I was upset at the seemingly flip flopping nature of (and excuse the generalization) the generations before us. Telling us that the world is shit and we need to fight and stand up for something and when we did (regardless of what it became) they flipped and said "What are ya a bunch of fucking hippies?!". That didn't seem fair and this video sparked a rant.
So wait we're constantly being told that, we need to make a difference and when we do (occupy) we're shunned away being called a bunch of snot nosed brats that are only trying to channel the 60's movement? ya know what EAT SHIT!
@ParodyOfHumanity Occupy was a load of crap. You had a mixture of legitamate claims with the majority being an overhaul to marxism, socialism, etc. They asked for stupid things such as "free food" and college. Which is why they looked like snot nosed brats.
I could go out and protest that Nickelodeon needs to have a cartoon show about a talking sandwich. Heck, I could have 1,000 others supporting me, but just because I'm protesting for something doesn't suddenly make me a role model for society
Pepewwalix or whatever. You should probably shut up because I honestly don't give a shit about a paragraph I typed on a video! Ok, I have perfect grammar. Or instead of our whoops... So bad! Just shut up
I've been waiting for this movie to come out for YEARS. Stoked to see the boys from STS9 get some more recognition all while addressing some really pressing issues.
Ok I'm a young one or whatever, people stop dishing on America ok we run or country how we run or country. Yea we nosey and a bunch of other things. But in my school the is a ton of excel. students and I'm one of them we r 48 in science & math, so what there's people behind us you can't just hit us with that. China good for them... Just shut up and care about your own country!
This is much more than a generation issue. Society is the problem here. Most people in the mighty USA are prey and the bait used by predators are the DISTRACTIONS in your life. Materialism, consumerism, electronic gadgets and for the Middle School crowd the induction into the drug use as American as apple pie deal. Americans are asleep at the wheel. Gluttony, all types of addictions, dumb down by education and entertainment. predators have it easy. A land of over three hundred million sheep.
Smart. Inspiring. A wake up call. Particularly interested in seeing the film answer the JUNIOR in high schools concern for her helplessness. What should SHE do?
Firstly idk who ur tryin to sell this to. Kids don't like it cuz it makes em look bad. Adults don't like it cuz doesn't relate to them. What's the plan here guys. Oh and one more thing, fear. Fear is the defining characteristic of this generation, the previous one, the next one. It is the destroyer of dreams and of the individual. Fear is to logic like lynch is to neck.
We are not mediocre! We may be 48 in math, while China is in the top 3, but we are number 1 in creativity and dreaming up new ways of doing things. "We" change the way the world thinks, we just need to change where our products are manufactured.
This film is so dumb because it doesn't, at any point, talk about china's advancing economic or that we are the 48 country in math & science. It's the sad reality that no one wants to accept. Honestly what will this movie do to change the minds of American young? It simply will not. Who is to blame? Our passive nature. That it's ok to be mediocre. Well we are surely mediocre now compared to china!
I kinda agree on this but I see today youth becoming stupid like they don't payattention to what going on around then & not only them it's also older people too
i like this documentary idea! i hope it motivates more people from my generation! to join in keep changing this mess done by our simple minded leaders who can only think of money & power! Peace for all someday! :)
puleeeeeze. the politicians (not my generation) screwed things up and now they're wanting to show us a video that says "hey, young people, I just took a shit on the floor... what are you gonna do about it?!". fuck off.
It's important that our younger generation cares but how are they going to be motivated to step up to the plate if this generation isn't doing anything worthy of anything. They're too busy playing video games and racking up credit card debt.
Not a fine example I say. Its about time we all wake up and do what is right here.
As Martin Luther King Jr once said "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
what do they want us to do go out and protest? where does that get you besides shot with sandbags and tear gas? you're not making a difference and if you think you are you're crazy...so i got some shootin to do myself on some call of duty so im to busy sorry....
It should be more like the American people aren't doing anything, the whole world around us is changing while we don't do squat, we worry when the next Jersey Shore episode is gonna be on but don't even notice the life changing events taking place around us. We need to take back our country from these foriegn banksters robbing our country and putting us in debt, it's time for a revolution.
Previous generations should not be getting mad at the generation that is a product of they're generation. This film shows that they 're speaking out to our generation however I dont think it would be right for them to say in the film that its not they're fault because it is.
Haha hey man let's go out an protest, after I go to the movies pay for ticket and food too watch regeneration:) so the guy who made it makes money, yeah sounds like a plan
I think young people today are being unfairly demonized as "apathetic." Don't forget that this generation played a crucial role in the anti-globalization movement, protests against the war in Iraq, and the election of the first black president; tolerance of homosexuality and alternative lifestyles is probably the highest it has ever been in American history. Apathy is indeed a problem, but it has always been a problem in U.S. History.
In all honesty, there isn't much going on civilly that we can take care of. The worlds issues are overseas, something teenagers can't really help. Sorry we aren't running around throwing flyers everywhere we can, but let's be honest.
We can't do much to help the following issues:
-The economy
-The war in Iraq
-Healthcare
These are issues we can't TRULY help in anyway. Don't call us apathetic or lazy because we don't listen to your kind of music or have to fight in marches around Detroit.
lol....the 60's generation having a historical role....big lulz. Suggesting that every subsequent generation should be as "politically active" as the 60's and 70's is just comical. Besides, don't baby boomers realize that the current global state of affairs, as well as the current youth culture, is largely their fault?
History is ALWAYS occurring, it is ridiculous and childish to think that "nothing is going on right now."
current state of affairs is like the brittle death of a piece of metal heated and cooled beyond its elasticity. the generation(s) in charge are so dogmatic we almost just need them to go extinct for any breathing room.
Our generation is FAR from passive. Our military is overflowing with new recruits, myself included. So instead of humbling himself to the experience and enjoying whatever time he has left he clings to how he thinks thing should be because that's how it's always been.
@ANASTASIACHAVEZFILM I'm one of the "old tards," but I think you hit the nail on the head. It was our generations' choices, greed, etc., that led to these crises. It really is our mess, and we've tried to brainwash the youth into following the status quo down the same old destructive paths. When we were young, we tried to change things, but then we gave up and joined the ranks of the "old tards" before us. We who created this mess are the ones who should clean it up.
I'm 40...normally , I would never use my age to point out a thought, but I have to set the stage for vision. First off, I think that there are a lot of brilliant minds out there who have huge hearts and really want to make a difference. Most have no idea how to go about doing this. I would say to those who want to impact the world we live in to simply speak out...your voice is as good as any as long as your message is well thought out and presented tactfully. I would like to work with the new.
You think my generation of today isn't as good because we didn't go through a world war or because we didn't go through a depression or because we didn't go into another ''vietnam'' where our friends were dieing by the hundreds every day? What issue of today is that great that demands the political action of the 60's? How dare people call us lazy when I work longer days than my parents. I go to school 6-3 pm, work 3-8 pm, and do homework 8-12 pm. We are pushed harder than you ever were.
I think the Baby Boomers started social, economic, and political change but were constantly hamstrung the Depression Generation and the so called Silent Majority. Thank God the DG is gone and the Silents in retirement! The Boomers and Gen Y get along well. It is my belief Boomers and Gen Y could get together and change the world. Battles are ready to be won and Regeneration can take place. I thnk the Boomers will go down in history as the best grandparents since the radicals of World War I.
hilarious how humans always blame the object when a circumstance is wrong and never the subject. the origin of arrogance.
an apathetic youth is a symptom of macro-social disease. the structures are a closed-loop of venomous, unsustainable, dependence-inducing degeneration and people wonder why the youth could be so alienated.
the systems probably need to fail on their own terms (stubborn elite), and then the youth can step in if they aren't too lost to indoctrinated lethargy already.
the youth originate with blossoming passion and creativity, but it is slowly drained out of them through assembly-line education. then by the time they witness 'the world that supposedly needs change', while expected to deliver promise, they are numbed to any means to fix it. process and procedure are so convoluted that the counterfeit maze needs to burn before being rebuilt.
the world desires its house of cards too much to develop a critical youth.
@xjustamem0ryx You are right on the money with your assessment of the problem. The system itself is what needs to be examined, or essentially it needs to collapse (which is inevitable as it's not sustainable) It was never meant to last, the problem right now is that people want to keep that house of cards up as long as possible. It's like a dying man who's terrified and holding dearly onto his life even though there is nothing he can do to stop whats coming to him.
Hey Americans try praying to GOD. That will help your soon to be shithole semi-third world country. (Please hence the sarcasm). Study macro economics, and you will learn that theres no solution to the USAs imminent economic downfall
A documentary without a concept except to try to paint hundreds of millions of people with a single broad, ignorant brush. Starring one of the most brilliantly self-deluded men on the planet, Noam Chomsky.
I'm not shocked.
Oh, by the way, the "great generation" had a lot of things to do because people of that same generation were busy killing presidents, killing millions of Jews, killing blacks and gays, and doing other pathetic things. Don't hold yourselves up so high.
I'm 14 years old and there are SOME kids who just dont give a shit, but most kids our age actually are politically active. Everyone and there mom doesn't think so, probably because they don't know. I mean and a lot of the things that kids stand up for are done through the medium of the internet and adults don't see that as much.
It just how far we have come from the 60s that made our, no my generation , like this. It is at a point where we are at our edge of the cliff and how we grown up, with wars and drugs being sold to underaged kids it's a life that can toll over you and forget what you believe what is right, and right now, who would listen to our voice? Who would listen to a bunch of kids, teens, adults? Who would pass it on? Who would care?
The youth are disengaged because they're not stupid enough to validate where we are by taking it on. They shouldn't have to clean up the mess of the previous generations--"hi, welcome to your future, which consists of dealing with the consequences of 4 decades of unbridled greed and fearmongering...you don't get to chart your path, you get to deal with ours." Nah, I think their apathy is warranted...it cannot be fixed anyway.
stop worrying OLD PEOPLE, and start using the fucked up minds of urs, we've got enough resources and theres enough technology for the generation to continue, no doubt the newer generations lazy, but that dosent mean we cant do shit in the near future :P
The median age of currently serving US Senators is ~61 years old, house of representatives is ~58 yrs old. My "generation" is not represented in government--our parents and grandparents are.
What about gay rights? The war on drugs? THE REAL WARS? Oil dependency? Health care?
Younger people care immensely about these things, but most of our representatives are old and do not wish to make changes for the future--they only care about maintaining the world that they grew up in.
seems like a good movie but they seem like such big asshole XD also you know that kids are gonna end up not doing shit so I think that makes it more funny for me
I know we haven't been involved much in pressing issues, but we are totally aware of everything that is happening out there in the world, we know how messed up the government is, the economy, and ect. but some feel powerless to do anything because we know what higher powers can and will do to us. i do not speak for all youth because we dont all think the same. having the stereotype of being lazy and such isn't true for the majority, some are very bright and changing the future in amazing ways
thats one of the fundamental problems of US. Media has thought kids and young adults to not care. By emphasizing the wrong issues, the important issues were left to grow and thrive. Approach a teen today and ask about current political or economical issues. What, you think a 16-year-old should not care who gets into white house or what is the current health reform? They should care the most because they are the inheritors of the world!
I think it's offending that they say, "with no purpose or historical role" and such. I admit youth aren't as politically active as I would personally wish for, but we are the future and many of us are shaping it in beautiful ways. We may not be as active as previous generations, but we haven't had such large trials that need to overcoming. I don't think that's fair to say we are lazy and such.
I'm not dissing the video, but I think people need to be more cautious while making generalizations. I've seen incredible youth do incredible things and shape very bright futures. They are changing the world. Be careful not to undermine their success with the "failures" of others.
just look at what I'm doing, I'm making an amature documentary on the perspectives of all the people I know :) from different countries and different states
@papastiffy For example, many counties have a "Youth Commission." A government-recognized youth advisory board to the board of commissioners. One example the Clark County (WA) Youth Commission. They are 20 youth who strive to make a difference, and definitely do so. They host award ceremonies recognizing youth of achievements, and they report to the county commissioners after researching topics and issues relevant to the government. That's just one example of many youth making a difference
@MudfaceProductions Very neat, thank you! I haven't heard of one in my county but perhaps it has one as well. I would like to think the younger generation hasn't become slack with apathy for our world, just sometimes it is difficult not to think so.
@fitnesschaser01 I think that's a very large claim that can't be backed up by proof at all. If it's fair to say that then it's fair to say adults of today don't care either, because I know many adults who contribute nothing to this world.
@MudfaceProductions It's indeed true that youth has done many incredible things, and really have shaped bright futures. The question is, who's future? Everyone's?
All this video is trying to say is, we need to be aware of these things and ask our self these very questions, so the world won't suddenly collapse under us (read: the system).
It's all about a balance, you can't gain on one side, without loosing something on the other.
Take care, and have a good and enlightening day :)
@MudfaceProductions I think it's because we don't always share the same values as people like the baby boomers, so immediately they stamp "doomed" on us.
@leifericson923 EXACTLY! We have so many outlets that we explore, instead of just doing the same ol. That doesn't mean we don't care about things, it's just not what we invest our time in.
@GuyInArmor agreed. At least I'm being honest and not spewing bullshit out of my mouth. The younger generation in the 60s were into current events because the men were scared of being drafted to vietnam. As long as we're not affected, we'll grow in apathy.
Well this looks like a fucking bundle of laughs, doesn't it? Back to the cat videos then.

hilarious how humans always blame the object when a circumstance is wrong and never the subject. the origin of arrogance.
an apathetic youth is a symptom of macro-social disease. the structures are a closed-loop of venomous, unsustainable, dependence-inducing degeneration and people wonder why the youth could be so alienated.
the systems probably need to fail on their own terms (stubborn elite), and then the youth can step in if they aren't too lost to indoctrinated lethargy already.
xjustamem0ryx 8 months ago
the youth originate with blossoming passion and creativity, but it is slowly drained out of them through assembly-line education. then by the time they witness 'the world that supposedly needs change', while expected to deliver promise, they are numbed to any means to fix it. process and procedure are so convoluted that the counterfeit maze needs to burn before being rebuilt.
the world desires its house of cards too much to develop a critical youth.
xjustamem0ryx 8 months ago 9
@xjustamem0ryx You are right on the money with your assessment of the problem. The system itself is what needs to be examined, or essentially it needs to collapse (which is inevitable as it's not sustainable) It was never meant to last, the problem right now is that people want to keep that house of cards up as long as possible. It's like a dying man who's terrified and holding dearly onto his life even though there is nothing he can do to stop whats coming to him.

I don't think the youth is lazy but I find these criticisms necessary to wake up and actually work harder to change the world.
Edgar040192 8 months ago 2

BiebsValentine1 8 months ago
The median age of currently serving US Senators is ~61 years old, house of representatives is ~58 yrs old. My "generation" is not represented in government--our parents and grandparents are.
What about gay rights? The war on drugs? THE REAL WARS? Oil dependency? Health care?
Younger people care immensely about these things, but most of our representatives are old and do not wish to make changes for the future--they only care about maintaining the world that they grew up in.

seems like a good movie but they seem like such big asshole XD also you know that kids are gonna end up not doing shit so I think that makes it more funny for me
flamepan 8 months ago

MudfaceProductions 8 months ago 39
I'm not dissing the video, but I think people need to be more cautious while making generalizations. I've seen incredible youth do incredible things and shape very bright futures. They are changing the world. Be careful not to undermine their success with the "failures" of others.

@MudfaceProductions I don't mean to 'diss' you, but I would like to hear some examples.
papastiffy 8 months ago
@papastiffy For example, many counties have a "Youth Commission." A government-recognized youth advisory board to the board of commissioners. One example the Clark County (WA) Youth Commission. They are 20 youth who strive to make a difference, and definitely do so. They host award ceremonies recognizing youth of achievements, and they report to the county commissioners after researching topics and issues relevant to the government. That's just one example of many youth making a difference
MudfaceProductions 8 months ago
@MudfaceProductions Very neat, thank you! I haven't heard of one in my county but perhaps it has one as well. I would like to think the younger generation hasn't become slack with apathy for our world, just sometimes it is difficult not to think so.
papastiffy 8 months ago
@MudfaceProductions most of the younger generation don't care though.
fitnesschaser01 8 months ago
@fitnesschaser01 I think that's a very large claim that can't be backed up by proof at all. If it's fair to say that then it's fair to say adults of today don't care either, because I know many adults who contribute nothing to this world.
MudfaceProductions 8 months ago

@MudfaceProductions you're joking right? We're extremely fucking lazy. Are you fucking high?

@eagledynasty81 It's people like you that help shape the youth's image as such.
GuyInArmor 8 months ago
@GuyInArmor agreed. At least I'm being honest and not spewing bullshit out of my mouth. The younger generation in the 60s were into current events because the men were scared of being drafted to vietnam. As long as we're not affected, we'll grow in apathy.
eagledynasty81 8 months ago
This is so true. This generation of kids stay in their own room or house and think that they cant make any differences in the world.
but truth is that we CAN make differences together.
hlee622 8 months ago
While it's true that the majority of teens and kids are pathetic and naive in today's time, so are most adults.
