I met The Woz at 15 y/o in 1983 & worked with him & Bill Gates on ideas for what was known then as the internetwork (I shortened to internet and to net) passed on to the Brain (CERN). The Woz, founder of Unuson Corp & US Music Festival. After Joe Elliott of Def Leppard discovered me in May of '83, INXS & Motley Crue were brought to meet me both of which performed at the US Fest and how Woz got involved after I started writing songs. I came up with the concepts & named the Ipod, Iphone, etc.

I like Wozniak better than Jobs. Jobs knew how to market products, but when Apple started out, Wozniak actually built the computers. Woz also seems more like a normal guy than Jobs. He's also not afraid to like non-apple products or say he likes open source better. I know Jobs hated Android.

Steve was always scorched earth and fire and brimstone, wanted to rule the world, while Woz just wanted to make the world better, and bring technology to the common man not just geeks. Woz never cared about competition because he knew that no matter what he'd be a success. Success was enough, he didn't want MORE than that. The world would be a better place if people like Woz ran things.

How many popular applications does this device support? Photoshop, Office, my tax program, bootcamp Windows, can it run all that? @zonexll, There's a keyboard dock and it pairs with Bluetooth Keyboards. Also, you can't run bootcamp let alone the latest OSX on it, because 10.6 is intel-architecture only and the old ones supported PPC. This is a new CPU type, ARM, that hasn't been used in older Apple computers. You going to Bootcamp into an ARM supported Windows? Nope. There are Linux distros that support ARM... You wait a few years and MAYBE OSx11 will support ARM CPUs. Then you'll have all that stuff.

For your information, that keyboard is large and is also clumsy to use, because you have to reach over all the time to control the mouse, it's not what I call user friendly compared to a regular netbook/laptop keyboard with a mouse pad, plus you have to plan each time whether you're going to take it with you or not and if you do, you basically carry two things. I also wonder what you do with the iPad at that time, because having it flat while you use the keyboard...mmm

And spare me the ARM story, I don't care WHY it doesn't run OS/X software, all I care about is that it CAN'T and that it CAN'T run bootcamp and Windows and trust me, there are lots of people who use bootcamp to run Windows. It's just a very limited device, basically you can't use your current OS/X apps, can't run Windows, can't even use something similar like Excel, regardless the fact that it would probably be a major hassle to use with our fat fingers.

The problem with it is that it wants to be both; a portable device and a functional computer. It's is neither one of them. As a portable device I seriously doubt that it will be taken on the road very often, more like moving from room to room. Take my son, he takes his iPod Touch everywhere, when he's on his bike, when he's walking down the street, quick visits to friends, school, etc. I don't see teenagers like him running around with the Ipad the way he runs around with the Ipod Touch.

I also don't see many business people taking an iPad on a business trip, it's just useless, because it doesn't allow the use of their desktop software, plus the alternatives are poor at best and require them to learn new software and deal with different file standards.

Nevertheless, the iPad will be bought by many (just because it's Apple), but I seriously doubt that it will be able to compete with the iPhone or Ipod Touch in the LONG TERM and it most certainly will never be able to compete with the netbook/laptop. To give you some indication; the sales of netbooks are going down, but they still predict to sell 70 million netbooks this year. Nothing will ever come close to such numbers.

Love Steve, but disagree on his observation that the iPad breaks some price barrier. As cool as it may be, to get one of a decent size (storage-wise) you're still looking at significantly greater cost than a decent Windows based laptop that might not be as cool, but can do more things.

I really don't understand the hypes around newly released Apple products that have been around for ages, but not in Apple form. Especially this iPad. It sucks. It doesn't even support basic web stuff. Or WiFi. Or USB. Or SD Card support. And there's a lot more wrong with this, which is supported by cheaper and better pads.
