Yes, the point of impact will change with the distance the shot travels. Once you've sighted-in at a certain range - like 10 yards - you can adjust the elevation turret on the scope for longer (or shorter) ranges.
Great video! But i think my gun has a problem.. I have remington summit break barrel airgun with a center point 3-9x40AO.. Everytime i shoot the pellet hits somewhere else. What can i do to zero it in ? Tho i have never tryed to stab leis my rifle..
If you are holding your air rifle tightly - or resting it on a hard surface - you can find this issue with any spring/piston air rifle like the Remington Summit. Use the "artillery hold" as described in my video Spring Air Accuracy. Also check that the stock screws are tight, these can loosen with time and accuracy can suffer. I hope this helps!
I have a Ruger Airhawk and it came with a 4 by 32 scope and I have the up and down notch all the way down and it's still shotting high. Please help!!!
I have an airhawk ruger pellet airrifle. My sights have covers and slits to click and turn. Will i mess my sight up if i turn it wrong. and does have to be10 yards away.
@MrBBman98 Hello, when we used to zero our BSA Comet springer, we clamped it in foam rubber along its stock length in a Black and Decker Workmate portable workbench. If you mount it forwards you can still break the barrel for a reload. Hope this helps
Thank you for a helpful video, free of tech-jargon. Good tip about the sand filled socks. Quite a tricky process for a break barrell gun, though (Cometa 300, .177) because of having to remove it from the holding clamp to cock it, which makes returning it to the original position "educated guess-work" during adjustments. Pellets are Winchester standard or Diabolo heavy. Cheers, Peter, NZ.
@ThePelletgunman yes because you have to not move the gun I had the same problem and it will not move with only one click don't be afraid to rotate the sights
@velconzx just take it off then you can reload then put back on and aim at center as u did before and move the crosshairs using the elevation turrets liek he does
@velconzx load it once then shoot. dont reload. then adjust yout crosshairs to the spot you shot. then reload your gun then put it back on the bullseye
I think you have some misinformation on this. You should not hold the gun as tightly as possible. You should use the artillery hold when shooting a spring power plant airgun.
Actually, the air rifle being shot in the video is a CO2-powered gun so it should be held tightly - as is shown. But, yes, of course, a spring air rifle needs to be held loosely with the Artillery Hold, the same basic sighting-in technique still applies.
Airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets for safe fun against other people
Air guns shoot metal pellets for hunting small game. While you can hurt a person with these, they don't do nearly enough bodily damage to be used as a self defense weapon.
I'd like to thank you for such a quick but very informative video, I'm interested in the QB guns you have, Specializing in QB only. Are the barrels made in England? And are they 12-groove? Do I just go to your web to order. I heard that you test every gun before shipping it out, That is really to be appreciated! OK, a question on scoping in. I have the leapers 8-32X56 to scope in at 25yards to start, but my zero will be 55yards. Will my poi change if I go from 32 to 20 power when done
Barrels for the QB78 air rifles are made in China at the factory that makes the guns. As for the scope question, the point of impact should not change due to a change in scope magnification. However, it will change if you move from 25 yards to 55 yards range.

I've bought an spring air rifle last week. 0.22 cal 240 m/s,
the dealer said that i should mount a scope after 200 shots after rifle setles in, some say its 1000 shots. How long should I wait for mounting a scope?
You can mount the scope immediately when the rifle is new. But if you have a spring-piston air rifle, they can "diesel" for some time (this is where the 200 to 1,000 shots part comes in) until the gun settles down. But my answer is simply to make an occasional accuracy test and adjust the scope settings as appropriate as the dieseling stops.
I'd say this could be quite a difficult air rifle to shoot for a beginner, as you will need to use the Artillery Hold for accurate shooting. See my other video "Spring Air Accuracy" for details of how to do this.
@itlrental deffinetly different. Airsoft uses plastic while these pellet guns use metal pellets. Shoot up to 1500 fps, not 300. And are most single shot.
just a question and this keeps bugging me. if you done that wouldnt it not be zero'd in down straight alined with the iron sight? wouldnt it be off to where ever you set the scope to be? and yes i like this way it way easier
Thank you, Mr. President. You are my hero. I assume this will work for airsoft rifles, as well? I had no idea it was so easy. Can I come to you with questions?
Is there anyone who has an old boltaction spring powered air rifle that I could buy for about £60 pounds as my break barrel keeps takin chunks out of my thumb and only today I ended up fainting from the amount of pian it caused me
Can you shoot offhand with that scope mounted? I've got a Leapers 4x32 that I just got recently after using a much cheaper scope for several weeks and it's heavy enough that my supporting arm gets tired after a few minutes of shooting offhand. I imagine that scope must be significantly heavier than the one I'm using.
Yes you can use this technique with a break barrel gun, but it's a little more difficult as you need to change position every time to cock it. Don't put the gun in a vice, but hold it in your open hand to shoot it. If a break-barrel air rifle is held in a vice, the scope will not sight-in correctly when you shoot it normally.

@lilcorey310 I had this issue before, the thing is that most "entry level" scopes are not designed for the recoil of spring rifles. The recoil messes the zero of the scope after some time!
I tried this with my daisy bb pellet gun and a cheap scope and when I moved the windaged and elevation the cross hairs didnt move at all but I just ordered a 4x20 scope and I'm gonna try this method. Wish me luck.
I agree entirely with the comments made by Viliny. In addition, how are you holding the air rifle? My other video on "Spring Air Accuracy" will help you to use the "Artillery Hold" that's essential to shoot many high-power spring air rifles accurately.
i don't know if this helps or not, but i had the same problem with the same rifle. What i can recommend is:
1. Make sure the stock screw is tight - so that theres no movement between the weapon and the wood stock.
2. Use the recoil pin in the scope rail so that the scope won't move around. It's the screw inside one of the feets that you attach the scope with... make sure the pin meets with the hole you have in your rifle. This, i think made a world of difference.
I use the same technique for sighting-in spring air rifles. But obviously they cannot be shot accurately from a rest and so I hold them by hand with the hand rested. In addition, there's the need to break the barrel for cocking between shots. So, it's a little more difficult but the same basic technique - set the scope to match the point-of-impact of the pellet - still applies. It usually takes me 5 - 7 shots to sight-in a spring air rifle. I hope that helps.
The QB78 family air rifles shoot at about 600fps in .177 caliber. There are many modifications that can increase muzzle velocity. We have some on our archer airguns on-line store. Our XP Tune Kit and XP Tuned Valve together can add about 130fps to a standard gun.
This is a nice, quick way to BEGIN zeroing a scope, but it is much too simplified. The fact is, even the most accurate barrel and the best pellets will produce a pattern that is spread at random within a 1 MOA (or more area). Starting from this method, the next step is to shoot 10 or more shots at 20 yds and notice where they are clustering. Move the scope's adjustments to move the center of the cluster to your aim point. The more shots, the easier it is to see the cluster.
HI! WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE KRAL DEMON LOWER LEAVER I WANT TO BUY ONE I'M IN TURKEY IS IT GOOD SOME SAY HATSAN IS BETTER I ONLY COULD SPEND SO MUCH CROSMAN AND THE REST OF THE GOOD MAKES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME I WANT TO BUY A RIFLE TO SHOOT THE RABBITS ON MY FARM AND A BIT OF PRACTISE SHOOTING 30YRDS. BUT ALSO WOULD LIKE TO FACE NO PROBLEMS SOME SAME THE DEMON LOSSES IT'S COIL POWER AFTER A FEW SHOOTS AND GETS LOUDER IS THIS TRUE PLZ HELP THANK YOU
"Set up the target 10 yards from where your rifle is rested in a safe windless area" "Rotate the elevation and windage tarts until the cross hairs are centered on the hole made my the pellet you just fired"
10 yards from the target, the cross hairs on the target, and the pellets will always hit the target. If either below or above 10 yards from the target the pellets never hit the target, it's either few millimeters above or below the target. Why so? Please reply, thanks.
Pellets do not travel in a straight line, but a curve. So, if you shoot at a target further away than you sighted-in at, the pellet will fall low. If closer it will be higher. Shooting at different ranges with any rifle (firearm, air rifle or airsoft) will always require that allowance is made for distance, either by adjusting the elevation turret of the scope or by using a "mil dot" reticle to "aim off".
Hi, great video easy and simple technique but i own a B.S.A XL lightning tactical which is a break barrel so i wont be able to do it as easily and my scope keeps getting knocked off and changing all the time for some reason. Any ideas on how to stop that? and any techniques for break barrels?
I use the same technique for sighting-in spring air rifles. But obviously they cannot be shot accurately from a rest and so I hold them by hand with the hand rested. In addition, there's the need to break the barrel for cocking between shots. by fireing 200 pellets before i start doing hard part of zeroing it in
because you said about pellets can diesel plus i will be buying a better scope
because i dont want to mess my scope up by fireing on a brand new gun
and ujusting it because that makes it harder
i might fire 200 rounds with out the scope
then when it setles then ile put the scope on and start zerowing it up

I tried this with my daisy bb pellet gun and a cheap scope and when I moved the windaged and elevation the cross hairs didnt move at all but I just ordered a 4x20 scope and I'm gonna try this method. Wish me luck.

I agree entirely with the comments made by Viliny. In addition, how are you holding the air rifle? My other video on "Spring Air Accuracy" will help you to use the "Artillery Hold" that's essential to shoot many high-power spring air rifles accurately.

Also, 3. The rifle seems to take some time to break in properly.

i don't know if this helps or not, but i had the same problem with the same rifle.

What are we supposed to do about the break barrel air rifle.? Thank's.
WelshTurnip94 8 months ago
I use the same technique for sighting-in spring air rifles. But obviously they cannot be shot accurately from a rest and so I hold them by hand with the hand rested. In addition, there's the need to break the barrel for cocking between shots. So, it's a little more difficult but the same basic technique - set the scope to match the point-of-impact of the pellet - still applies. It usually takes me 5 - 7 shots to sight-in a spring air rifle. I hope that helps.

Whats the fps on your gun?Do you hunt with it and is it possible to have upgrades for fps on the qb78
HLGoalkeeper 8 months ago
The QB78 family air rifles shoot at about 600fps in .177 caliber. There are many modifications that can increase muzzle velocity. We have some on our archer airguns on-line store. Our XP Tune Kit and XP Tuned Valve together can add about 130fps to a standard gun.

Wow i think that was the best zero in scope tutorial ive seen thanks a lot that helped me a bunch!
zSSKILLERz 8 months ago
This is a nice, quick way to BEGIN zeroing a scope, but it is much too simplified. The fact is, even the most accurate barrel and the best pellets will produce a pattern that is spread at random within a 1 MOA (or more area). Starting from this method, the next step is to shoot 10 or more shots at 20 yds and notice where they are clustering. Move the scope's adjustments to move the center of the cluster to your aim point. The more shots, the easier it is to see the cluster.

Why so? Please reply, thanks.
oknbjiuhvcgy 8 months ago

Thanks:)
