  • Brilliantly executed, with or without theremin -- thank you so much for posting it!

  • Great stuff

  • I stand corrected - maybe they just didn't have your phone number when putting the performance together.

  • ....roza, korngold, tiomkin......

  • Es una excelente versión pero, ¿por qué carajos está editada y quitan solos de piano y todo lo que se les antoja?

  • I think this orchestra version sounds better without a therenin which can sound dreadful if not played properly. Where and when was this performance and which orchestra. They played it very well.

  • Probably the best movie theme music ever!

  • Ah, the Hollywood Sound !! Roza and Korngold , classics

  • I have the "Spellbound Concerto" with Theremin, performed by Leonard Pennario as soloist and the "Hollywood Bowl Symphony orch." conducted by the same Miklos Rosza. It comes with "Warsaw Concerto" (Addinsell), "Cornish Rhapsody" (Bath) and "Scherzo" (Litolff) in the same disc. I recorded it in a CD from a vinyl LP record in excellent conditions and has a perfect hi fi stereo sound without cracks and pops. LP was recorded in 1964.

  • I'm looking for a CD or MP3 recording of the Spellbound concerto WITH theremin

Anyone know where can I find one? I searched amazon, etc couldn't come up with anything.

Rozsa is talented - well up to Debussy standards in this work. pity he isn't remembered and played as much

  • I have a cd called Hollywood Chronicles, the Spellbound Concerto with 2 pianos and the theramin, cond by Elmer Bernstein, it is a Varese Sarabande. In fact the whole cd is great (Peyton Place, The bride of Frankenstein, The Jungle Book, etc) Good Luck!

  • I also have this one, I wonder if the score is available for rent or sale, I would like to hear this one live.

  • Where's the theremin part?!

  • Apparently, the english horn ate it!

  • This is one of the funniest lines I have ever heard. keep up the humor.

  • Unfortunately, we didn't have a theremin available for this performance.

  • Oh, that's too bad -- the theremin really is a hallmark of this piece. Well, maybe next time!

  • @theremin137

Balancing the theremin with orchestra, in a live setting at a big venue (where the theremin is amplified and the orchestra is not) could be QUITE difficult. It's a great effect when the two are done together, but it's probably only possible in the studio.......

  • Hmmm... Well, I have played the theremin with orchestras many times, for both live performances [in concert halls] and for recordings [in concert hall and on sound stage]. It's never been particularly difficult.

  • Wow! one of my favorite contempory composers. thanks for posting this vid.

    =)
