The correct doctrine is that Yahushua is the son and he is one with the Father, not one and the same. To you Bible quoters: do not get hung up on the literal form while ignoring the substance of what Christ is saying to the "Scribes and Pharisees", that is truly akin to straining at gnats, while swallowing a camel. Also, this film dialogue was not meant to follow the scripture word for word, but is an artistic rendering of the life of Jesus Christ. Having said this, I think Robert Powell's performance is truly inspiring, and gives homage to the spirit of Christ. That is all humans can do.

@jesusknight72 Echad is the word that was spoken. You and your wife are echad. You agree and share a mission. You are united. But you two individuals are not the same person. Yahushua prayed to his heavenly father Yahweh. He never prayed to himself. And he was raised from the grave by the eternal father Yahweh and was given eternal life and is now seated at the right hand of the father not at his own right hand. So many false teachings and poorly translated bibles being published.

@yooottooob It's not a poor translation. The translation is the translation. There is nothing confusing about I and my Father are one. Just as there is nothing confusing about Emmanuel meaning 'God, with us'. When the word 'became flesh and dwelt with us' he as being man also fell under the same rules and restrictions as we did. To communicate to the Father Jesus had to pray to him to show us what what pleasing to the Father.

@jesusknight72 See II Corinthians 1:3; Galatians 1:1-3; Ephesians 1:3; Colossians 1:3. The relationship Yahushua our savior had was with His FATHER in HEAVEN. He gave up his own will in favor of his FATHER's will in the garden of Getsemene. There's plenty of scripture to clarify this point even in poorly translated versions.
The oneness they shared is the same oneness they want for us as revealed in (John) Yachanan 14 -17... Submission to Yah's will, kingdom, law. Keep seeking.

@yooottooob I have studied all those verses thoroughly. It is you who refuses to see the verses that substantiate that Jesus and the Father are one. "He who has seen me has seen the father so how can you say, 'Show us the Father?'" John 14:9 Im done debating this. If Jesus was just a man then he was not sinless and his death served no purpose. Jesus Is the WORD, "And the word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD...and the word became flesh and dwelt with us. PERIOD

@jesusknight72 With the exception of underestimation the importance of having a corrected translation, what you have said here is true. There is nothing confusing about I and my father are one. What I pointed out in my original statement is that there are added words in this movie which are not in scripture. Saying "one and the same" is not accurate. And the concept cannot be substantiated in correctly translated scripture. Understand?

@sistalinda I and my father are one means I and my father are one. There's no OTHER way to understand it just as Emmanuel meaning GOD WITH US, means exactly that. How can you see otherwise. "Why do you say show us the father? If you have seen me, you have seen the father." I'm through debating this with you. You need to trust scripture instead of listening to mans hang-ups about Jesus. Just becasue YOU don't understand something doesn't mean it's wrong. I'm finished this debate.

You said "I and my father are one means I and my father are one." That is true too. The movie says I and my father are one and the same. That is untrue and unscriptural. If it is altered scripture, ha shatan is responsible. Keep seeking. A little leaven leavens the whole loaf. Thanks again.

@u2joshuadesireu Not looking for an argument. I am pointing out that the movie writers added the words "...and the same." The scripture does not say that and the teaching/ doctrine is incorrect. The correct doctrine is that Yahushua is the son and he is one with the Father, not one and the same. The movie would be great if they stuck to the scriptures rather than adding words that are not there. By doing so they fortify falsehood which leads to dispute. Pointing out falsehood is holy.

I am saying that the scriptures state this. I earnestly contend for the true faith. Sorry if this baffles you. See II Corinthians 1:3; Galatians 1:1-3; Ephesians 1:3; Colossians 1:3. Need more proof. There's plenty.

Somehow I doubt that you have read much of the Bible yourself. If you were to read about the life of Jesus, for example, you would see that he has left us with one of the most valuable sets of principles that mankind has ever received. But, according to you, I'm illiterate or I just don't care.

Mythology? Do you mean the part where Jesus says, "Love your enemies"? Or perhaps the part about "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? How about, "Bless those who persecute you, and do not curse. Pray for those who spitefully use you." You're right, what a bunch of useless mythology. By the way, I don't think the scholars of Greek and Roman mythology would appreciate you're disregard of mythology's significance in history.

This is very much correct. The LARGE majority of Jews didn't even know who Jesus was (if he was real) and those who did had no reason to want him killed. At least dozens of people claimed to be the Messiah. That is not a crime. Besides Crucifixion is a Roman method of execution. Jesus (if he was real) was a threat to Rome because according to the Bible he claimed to be King. Again, the Romans killed Jesus (if he was real) Settled!

This is where He sealed his death warrant: you did not challenge the religious establishment like this, from the steps of the Temple. This scene is word for word from the gospels and wipes out all the "warm fuzzy" stereotypes of Jesus. He said so many controversial things in three years He might have died sooner.

What sealed Jesus' death was the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead, it was a stunning miracle that even the scribes, high priests and all His enemies witnessed, without a doubt He raised Lazarus from the dead and it was the cause for the sanhedrin to spread all over Jerusalem and beyond a decree for His trial and death, they knew that He won the population and they lost, and since then they wanted His death.
