@outatime1955 Einstein was so right once more!! Be aware some may take advantage of you though and only want to be friends as to have you fix things for them, you know.
@outatime1955 Great if it works for you! Unfortunately I made the experience that most people (my age or younger) seem to hate knowledge and anything intellectual, they prefer instead rude behavior and vandalism. My solution: usually keeping away from people.
My dad got a Model N902-T for me off Ebay. Its great. I think I'll use the slide rule for everything but major grades. :) (I am not very good at computing raw numbers and worse with decimals)
I keep a Post 1447 (with the black box) nearby in the invent of a sudden and unexpected EMP or if my HP50g loses battery power, which is quite often given the heavy use.
I also wear a Breitling B-2 Slide Rule Watch, which is hard to read while wearing contacts. I once used it to estimate bowling ball speeds during one of those Saturday morning league games.
I just discovered a very good trick to determine a close approximation for internal rate of return (IRR) using my slide rule.
Slide rules are the best. I am proud to have made the slide rule a popular item amoung fellow engineer students when I was in school and this was only a few years ago.
It looks like your demo used a Post model 1447. In case you didnt know, you dont need to flip the slide in which to find mantissas of logs or for trig functions. Those indexes on the back of the rule are for this reason. Nice video. Good to see others take interest in these.
I couldn't hear the actors at times. Besides that this is a nice introduction to the slide rule.

@outatime1955 If you can be that without your class mates trying to bully you into committing suicide you're improbably lucky.

Super intro for the uninitiated. I loved the quote, "an elegant weapon ... from a ... more civilized age"

We did the full version of that quote in an outtake you can see during the credits if you're interested.
