Yes, it is, only Bill Haley and His Comets did a "watered-down" version of the song...Dickie's version was a little too racey for those time...go figure, huh?
Keep coming back to this. This man was just totally amazing. Self-taugh, didn't even know how to tune a guitar and made up his own tuning, and plays guitar upside down (strings too). Just amazing, ONE of a KIND!
He WAS truly amazing...and truly humble, too. He had no idea just how amazing he was. He was a good friend of mine for over 20 years...I feel truly blessed to have known this incredible musician and human being...rest in peace my dear friend.
Don't know if you remember, (over 1 yr ago), but his grandson turned me on to this clip. I did a lot a research of DT, and his musical skills have been, to this date, unmatched! :) I mention him very frequently when I gig out. He's under-appreciated in these times. Thanks for your reply! :)
Dickie's grandson? Which one? You're so right about him being under-appreciated...again, even HE didn't know just how special he was. God rest his soul!!
Looks very easy, if he plays.

Oh how I miss sipping a martini at Plush on Friday nights and hearing Dickie tear it up. Thanks for posting.

Oh, and in response to your very first comment, he was going to be 89 in November of 2007...this was shot in late June of that year.
