What's with the words "or herself" spliced into this recording (at the 0:25 mark)? Who thought that this imposition of so-called "political correctness" was necessary? Do you think that our understanding is that limited? - or that our skin is so thin? How much else has been modified in order to conform to some other mode of expression than that of Alan Watts? Can we now trust this to be his actual teaching at all? Or is it something other that has been constructed from samples of his voice?

no one person has the full truth,we can all come to realisations of the nature of exsistance,take what he says and interpret into your own reality tunnel,understand its just helping your own bank of knowledge to come to its own self realisation,thinking anyone has taught you anything is a false perception,you are your own teacher,teaching yourself,if someone says says something you get does not mean he,s tuaght you it,the fact you get it means you already knew,you just haven,t expressed it

He's right that most of us feel that we are separate from our environment.

This is why we abuse it.

@tlady21 Even if we feel connected to the environment I think it's more that we don't understand it the same way we might be abusing our bodies as well. People smoked for years until we understood that it may cause harm. If we are the universe than it's the universe that's learning to not harm itself. The universe/us isn't intelligent enough yet to know not to harm itself.

This is brilliant. I search for stuff like this, Terrence McKenna etc. and have never thought about half the things Alam Watts is brining up in this particular video.
