  • Great Dory, sails wonderfully.

What is the Mast and Boom made out of?

    It almost looks like 2x2".

    thanks!

  • Beautiful boat. If it's built with the sailing option does the daggerboard trunk interfere with the rower's back when rowing from the middle seat?

  • I want to learn to sail. Have arranged for lessons this summer. As well, I've always thought of building. We are going to get a small travel trailer. Boat has to be light weight to fit on top of a small tow vehicle. Tthe Northeastern Dory seems to fit the bill. It's also big enough to fulfill a couple of my macho sailing ideas I have, although I wouldn't take it out too far. Stay close to land, watch for storms, and leave myself an out and I can have a blast. Hope to take the builders class.

  • RIP- Phil Bolger- plywood will never be the same again! sadly missed at St Michaels this year

  • The Northeaster Dory is two feet longer and a lot wider than the (lovely) Gloucester Light Dory. Quite a lot more stable at rest, and very stiff when heeled.

  • Phil Bolger described his Gloucester Light Dory as very tender, and tricky to get into and out of, though very stable when keeled over. Is this dory similar? It doesn't look too tricky to get into in this video.

  • You steer with a rudder whilst sailing.

  • Do u steer with a rudder???

  • I hope one day I can get on a sailboat, and your videos always keep me keep the dream alive. Thanks!
