It depends on how exactly you're pulling it. If you're wanting to pull them really tight, make sure they're all even, or it will spiral. Same with loose. Just keep the same consistency and it should stay straight. =]

take all the strings at the end and put them together in a line, now make a loop out of it, and stick the end of the strings through the loop and tighten. Just make a regular knot

A good way for you're braclet not to turn out curly is when you knot each string into a #4 angle, you knot it twice. It will make it a little less curly!!
