  • Okay, I'm getting various messages on Nicos Pourpourakis Facebook page. Many agree it's an Aptaliko and others say fast zeibekiko. I changed the description to include both styles. I still think the photo with Nicos Pourpourakis and the fishermen says it all.

  • Actually, however it's danced it's a nice song and alot of fun! I think the photo with NIck Pourpourakis in it says it all.

  • The musicians in Greece agree that this is a version of the Aptaliko dance but faster.

  • @leadakis123 I'm afraid the Greek musicians I know, don't agree ;-)

  • Nice song O psaras. But not an aptalikos, I presume ;-)

  • @anokatomichali - maybe at a faster beat.

  • @leadakis123 The 9 counts of an aptalikos starts with 3 (3-2-2-2). Psaras is a common 9/8 (2-2-2-3).

  • @anokatomichali - actually how would it be danced??

  • @leadakis123 I always see people dancing a quick kind of zeïbekiko on it.

  • @leadakis123 - Hi, this is a faster version of the zeibekiko which is a version of an Aptaliko dance. I've seen this dance on the island of Inousses, where Nick is from. It is very popular form of dance there. Nice to meet you by the way. My regular email is aglaiadakis@yahoo.com. I am very surprised to see that Greek music is also popular in the Netherlands. Thank you for your comments.
