Additional info about Dick: While staying in Bludhaven,New York, he became a member of a police force there, while acting out his Nightwing gig in the evenings. They (Bruce and Dick) get to have some bonding moments together in some of Batman's missions whenever Dick gets to visit him in Gotham. He still looks up to Bruce and Alfred as his father figures.

@animehellion1 Nightwing was Dick Grayson after he left his position as Robin. Tim Drake went from being Robin to being Red Robin, which was actually a title belonging to Jason Todd of a different Earth, though I can't remember off hand which Earth it was.
"Nightwing" has never been a sidekick. Robin IS a sidekick (Note that Teen Titans is a separate area, when Batman found out what he was doing there he told Dick to return the Robin suit and 'fired' him as Robin. Hence why I say Robin is only a sidekick and isn't allowed to be anything more.) Dick Grayson, was a sidekick and no longer is. Just so that's all cleared up, we can all now agree that Nightwing is NOT a sidekick.

Tails doesn't really have a reason to leave. What happens between Batman & Nightwing to cause him leaving varies from continuity, but Sonic & Tails are really more "best friends" than "superhero & sidekick".
But Batman and Robin also had a father son thing, Wayne adopted Grayson after his parents died. And in Sonic Adventure, Tails wanted to be a hero on his own, and he DID fight Sonic in the comics, so I think eventually Tails wouls step out Sonic's Shadow, all Tails needs to do is realise his full potential, but the problem is that he's too humble
