  • The Jubilation Choir have found a very honest, well-thought-out approach to the song that avoids the crass and the kitch, resulting in a well-sung and soulful performance with a very high feel-good factor. This version is still only second-best for me, but when you're up against Dorothy & Co, you shouldn't feel too bad being a runner up (I hope!).

Congratulations to you all, I've enjoyed it (and it's obvious that you did).

  • This song, in the joyous hands of Dorothy Love-Coates, is an enduring favourite of mine. I was surprised to find just how many other versions have been recorded over the years (especially recently) and have now found their way onto YouTube. Many are truly ghastly travesties, and in some cases verge on the grotesque, so having now seen this version I feel bound to leave a comment here. (contd...)
