  • Why would they give up their rice to feed you? Because they could always hunt for wild onions or eat tree bark, but if they didn't give up their rice, they got the bayonet. That's why.

  • Very insteresting documental

  • @Tenki09 yes, very.

  • after sitting thru and watching this whole movie, i believe much of what he says of his happiness is genuinely true, he's not lying. but there is a lot of brainwash that has been done here. and there is a reason why he drinks and smokes so heavily.

  • @derxwithit420 isn't brainwashin cleaning? sounds like...

  • Dresnok left American slavery and traded it for North Korean slavery.

  • I feel sad for Dresnok. I bet you deep down in his heart he wants to return to USA with his family, but he knows he wont be allowed too. Everyone misses the place they grew up..No matter how the living conditions are growing up. SO i bet you he probably misses those roads and sidewalks that he walked when he was a kid in the USA. Kim Jon iL is a monster for keeping his own people in starvation and isolation. but you cant just blame him alone the USA is also responsible to some extent.

  • @deimos20092009 he didn't have a family

  • @deimos20092009

Not true, do a search on Youtube on Joan Hinton a American nuclear physicist who worked on the Manhatten Project, Fred Engst and many other who left America and settled in China during the Mao era. Fred Engst even returned to the US for 32 years, but returned to China again 2007 for good, he felt lost in America, values were wrong etc..etc...

  • @EdT586 People you mentioned never worked for chinas nuclear program, they were living in agriculture commune during the cultural revolution

  • @deimos20092009

They worked for the US nuclear program !

  • They wouldnt want him to starve because it would be a major embarassment for them internationally - the 4 westerers who defected to live a perfect life in North Korea...starve to death. This guy seems like a really decent person though, and I liked him from the beginning...but let's not forget that in NK, there is no room for thought that veers from 'the party'. Check this out -

  • An interesting story but useless as an individual account for trying to gauge the level of distortion surrounding the true situation for average people in NK, because of his celebrity status and his usefulness to the state of North Korea especially in light of the other guy's choice to go back on his choice to defect (as the North Korean government has an interest in trying to counterbalance this).

  • ONCE A TRAITOR ALWAYS A TRAITOR! DEATH TO AUTHUR THE TRAITOR!

  • What a naive son of a bitch

  • everyone pause at 0:07 <3

  • the smile the old man did at beginning really gave hope for me that south korea and north will re unite if north stops bombing the crap out of us

  • this guy is so stupid and such a tool, no, the korean people didnt "TAKE CARE OF YOU" the gov did, guess why stupid? cause you''re needed in their open propaganda.

  • anyone else get the feeling this guy is weird? he is happy there because he gets special treatment and lives like a welfare case, accepting his rations. maybe i do not understand, i would rather make my own way. at his age ofcourse he would be on social security here, so maybe he is just retired there as well.

  • 5:34 LOL!!!

  • What is a disgusting human being

  • @p0rkch0ps And you're a real piece of $hit ...... Capitalist brain frozen idiot .... You people in west are so brainwashed there is no discussion possible, wish I could do mankind a favour and gas you bastards.... You are really worthless for humanity besides being utterly dumb....

  • @calisse245 hey there, not so fast pls...

  • I still think NK needs measures to make it true socialism not some false oligarchy system. sometimes i wish i was best buds with Kim and give him advice to build his country to the next 2 world super power fighting neck and neck for power of technology. I guess power has its toll.

  • You can say what you want BUT you must have the Balls to cross the Line and starting a New Life!!!!

    Dresnok is a Real Man!!!!

Comrade Dresnok Good Luck for you !!!:):):)

  • @Pulgasari1 It was no longer his life the second he crossed over. He is not a man.

  • @nickfifteen you have no idea about Life its lot of things you not understand!!!

Maybe if you be older you understand.

Now i see you are a little Punk Dresnok is a real Man!!!!!

Its His Decision He have Balls and decided to start a new Life.

Its his Life and His Decicsion some Day you will Understand.

  • Dresnok wonders at the end of this film why the government would allow him to live while other koreans were dying of starvation. He should realize the answer is so that he can be in film documentaries such as this one where he casts such a favorable light on north korea. He has clearly resigned himself to his fate, but i feel for his children.

  • You can say what you want BUT_You must have the Balls to Cross the Line and starting a New Life!!!!

    Dresnok i a Real Man!!!!

Comrade Dresnok i wish you a Long Lucky Life!!!!!!!:):):)

  • if the government take good care of him as he says then why would he want to leave especially after he got used to the life. If the government give you special treatment you can live a lot of places and feel it's better than the USA. He's not the ordinary DPRK citizen he's a celebrity and liked by the leader. For most North Korea sucks but for him its home an pampered.

  • I'm also shocked at how many people who watched this actually think Dresnok is telling the truth, or that North Korea is a great place. Especially "Justyburger". Western olibarchy are empire builders and slave masters?

Everyone in NK are slaves who are forced to bow down to an evil old man. Do some research and grow a brain before making crazy statements like that.

  • @2edsajdmsa I think justyburger has done plenty of research, and your claim ''everyone in nk are slaves'' not everyone, not the ones who are favoured by their leader, have u researched dprk, have u been there and spoke to the people?

And besides, as usual it's the govt's who stage what they wish the people to know, and back that up with military might...i suggest u do your research...and it's spelt oligarchy

  • @colopity The favored ones are still slaves because they cannot leave, DUCY?

  • @colopity Defectors who have done poison gas experiments have admited to killing people for sport in the labor (concentration) camps. If you want to claim that any government that would support forcing thousands of their own citizens into concentration camps is preferable to a government that seeks wealth, then you're beyond being reasoned with. And it is mighty bold of you to correct someone elses spelling considering your own mistakes far out number a simple spelling mistake.

  • This movie made me so aware that I live in a country where I can say fuck Kim Jong Il

  • I watched this before on "crossing the line" but Dresnok blows my mind! He didn't like nk so he went to the ussr embassy they reject him, he flips russia the bird, instead of praising them for how happy he is now in nk. I wonder if subconciously he's trying to drink and smoke himself to death. I also wonder how common folk ended up with jack daniels not only in a starving country, but an American whiskey in a country that loathes the U.S.A.

  • @fatherofmy5 all good questions, makes u wonder what's going on behind the scenes

  • @fatherofmy5

and if you take a closer look, sticker on a juice bottle says ORANGE, isnt that a bit unusual for the country that speaks entirely different language and uses completely different style of writing?

id say this is one great piece of propaganda. if it was really that good over there, why wouldnt they open the borders and show us "blinded capitalists" how great communism is?

  • @fatherofmy5 You have to relize, that was BEFORE he was treated like royalty.

  • Dresnok praises socialism and equality, but acts very capitalistic by taking advantage of celebrity status in North Korea and enjoying a higher standard of living than the average North Korean citizen.

  • @nightfrog65 Dresnok praises Juche, not Socialism.

  • @nightfrog65 probably very true, NK people are such generous people, i think they are also very used to following, and it's suits the regime that they are so tolerable. if the NK army is so fierce, then surely a military coup would not be impossible if they thought the people are being subject to tyranny. the place is a weird mystery, very much reminds me of uk, they even share the same pyramid style building.

  • @colopity He doesn't talk about US slavery once. Not once from parts 1 - 9. He talks about feeling like a slave. That's not slavery. Fuck you colopity. You know that North Koreans are on average 15 cm shorter than their southern counterparts. Why? They are forced to drink the sewage water. What a great place.

  • @nightfrog65 isn't it funny a couple of men fishing and having a few drinks and complaining about their wives ......people are the same allover the world

  • if 4 the people then people get the crop they planted a country of free man every1 get what they want not starving to death

he said its good because he did not live through all those hard work like the NK people did

If NK so good like he y people kept leaving KN

  • @00Hellfire most leave nk, cos it so close to extremely rich china, u don't see many of them heading for uk, hahaha

  • Thanks Pete, Glad you're back!

    Hanco

  • Thanks. Great upload. Food for thought.

  • How come he never talks of US slavery? Judging by the title, you'd think he'd mention something about chattel slavery at least once, he's from the south too, maybe he studied a little history. It's never mention in this film even once.

  • It does, in the part where he's just been told he's gonna get court-marshalled, he says it then, 'Am I a slave' implying the U.S. Army and therefore U.S. advocate slavery, which they obviously do.

  • What he did was the most logical solution to his situation. he came from a shitty background, was in a shitty situation, he was awaiting court martial and was even considering suicide. All he had to do, was run across the DMZ, where he was recieved as a hero, and given a lot of fme and wealth. He certainly had a much higher standard of living then most DPRK citizens and led a better life than he could have in the states with his background.

  • He had a choice between living a mundane shitty life in the US, or being a hero in Korea. he chose what was best for himself. Case in point, while people were starving, he was still given full rations, he was considered a rarity, a national asset and was treated as such. the guy that left the DPRK came to a similar conslusion, either live a decent life in Korea, or leave and be recieved as an innocent victim, with a book deal. he got to stay with his family, in the free world. A good decisi

  • makes u wonder how they find out, cos that opportunity must still be available in dprk, guess if u leave there, then they probably wouldn't let u back in, or maybe it'd be dangerous or somethin

  • Kim Jong Il believes in collective guilt. If one person commits a crime, entire families are sent to prison camps where they are tortured, and sometimes raped and murdered. Such collective guilt can also extend to the neighbors. Such crimes include playing a foreign broadcast or perceived criticism of the regime. Saying the word "God" is the death penalty. Listen to the North Koreans who escaped North Korea. It is a living hell there. This video is pure propaganda and lies.

  • As much as I believe what you're saying is true, I think this films portrays his life, more so than what u r talking of, which are very valid points. I do question his integrity, but I must say he seems in good spiirits, maybe drinks a bit too much, but u must admit, he seems intelligent, at least.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed that and appreciate you posting. I like this guy Dresnok. He is a man at ease with himself. He loves his family and seems very genuine. Its good to view things from another perspective. The western oligarchy are empire builders and slave masters. N Korea is probably not so bad but neither system is right. Left or right only keeps us from middle. Almost all political systems are control paradigms. True freedom is very hard to find. Perhaps only death will set us free?

  • I think dprk is very much wound up in the system and is something of a further experiment for the future, Koreans are very, very nice and generous people, they have been so taken advantage of, but hey look at the other option, better the devil u know, eh?
