Suzuka is one of the tough circuits in Gran Tourismo 4, the driver is oding exactly what i was doing when i was doing during the game. Those guys who made that game must be really good, that game proves to me that it is the closest thing to a driving simulation.
the nsxr is irreplacable... such great capabilities. up to now after 1990, 19years after, so much technology has improved, nsx is still a contender. although it needs tuning just to compete... now that the new GTR has arrived. but sadly the new model had to be posponed... but what the hell, still nsx all the way... lol
For a that only had it's tires switched out for slicks, it performed impressively. The NA1 is a car that could never be reproduced especially because of the abilities of Honda's C30A motor. But I give them credit for reviving this legacy into it's 3rd generation for the NA3, but I have my doubts on the FR layout.
well if it is a 4WD damn them. they better design it so the driver have the freedome to deactivate the 4WD mode and drive in RWD mode. And don't forget to put in the fucking stick shift, something that Nissan people forgot when they made the GT-R.
@golferchin76 It's out, the Replacement for NSX is the HSV 010. It's not out for production, honda is only using it for SUPER GT racing and DAMN ITS FAST. It won Pole Position for the first 2 rounds of Super GT 2010. It won the second round race (:
I saw those HSV 010 lapping Suzuka circuit stuff, along with them Lexus and GT-R in GT disguise, and NSX Super GTs weren't there.
HSV's got formula engines in them or something. They sounded more like F1 cars than usual Super GTs. My friends and I were watching those vids and hell no those engines were not production engines. But they sounded SWEET!
Why a (: at the end of sentence? something wrong? :) or :(
Don't tell me they did it with 4wd and without stick shift !! that would be a crime.
@golferchin76 HSV 010 replaced the NSX Super GT sinced MR layout cars are outlawed. They are not using production engines because SUPER GT restricted the engines to be 3.4L V8s ONLY. HSV is using a Formula Nippon engine detuned to 500hp and redlines at 10300rpm. Its not 4WD, RWD and it doesnt use stick shift. Uses sequential pedal shift. Stick shift with clutch = slow, pedal shift = fast but no fun. Having a clutch and stick is fun
@c312eal I won't pretend to know everything about SuperGT/JGTC but HONDA cited cost of developing a new MR car as the reason for the FMR layout. Also the originally proposed V10 would not fit in the car at the size they wanted.
@DocWolph Yeah but the NSX spirit is gone with the FR and 4WD layout. NSX was made to give a F1 feel. F1 feel = MR layout. They used the HSV (NSX replacement) cause Super GT didn't allow MR layout cars for the GT500 Class. And the engine inside HSV isn't the V10 Honda proposed. They used a formula nippon V8 engine
@c312eal Yeah it was a complete failure of the project. 90% done and HONDA tosses it out along w/ a V8 for ACURA and FR platform, too. The HSV, for want of another name, was rumored to be AWD then RWD. Neither would surprise me. It sounded like HONDA wanted to beat the GT-R35 but lost their nerve at the last moment. I think more than anything HONDA has lost its spirit. Just look at what they are making now.
I think Honda still has that high revving spirit. and it probably is the only company that produces 'affordable' high revving machines. You sure do know Type R, B18C(older), and K20A engines. There's no replacement for that for them high revving crowd.
Now Nissan yes did a good job but shit the pedal shift only design:) Then again, Lexus LF-A (pedal) was Lamborghini price range, and NSV...is the hope I have now. Whatever it is, we are not going to see the supra vs R33 vs 3000GT vs 300zx era.
V8 was ok, BUT I rather see the car with a Honda badge.
V8 was enough, though a v10, hehehe. Think about it, don't you feel godzilla (GT-R) lacked something? if it was going to be a 911 turbo contender, why not give it a V8, and turbo'ed it so it produces 580bhp stock, that would smoke even Italian super cars? not that Nissan does not have the tech, and it's only an increase of a couple thousand dollars per car's price tag. A supercar contender with V6 under the hood? and no stick?
@golferchin76 The lack of a V8 is part of the Japanese racing ethos. They usually race on shorter tighter tracks where the longer reaching power of V8s and higher are wasted. On longer more open tracks with higher sustained speeds, most Japanese cars will get left behind, even the GT-R35. They are great dash cars but typically poor marathoners. On manuals, one does not build a fast car and saddle it with a slow tranny. Manuals are an enthusiast's choice but increasingly not a racer's.
@DocWolph I agree with you Doc, Japanese racers usually tune their suspension and brakes first. The last thing they worry about is the engine because they dont really care about engine power. They worry about cornering speed because of the roads in japan. Japanese roads are filled with hair pins and tight corners. High powered V8s aren't need unlike in north america where all we have is straight roads. Manuels feel great and are lots of fun. But pedal shifters are the way now. Its TOO fast
@golferchin76 Traditional Stick shift because its fun [: and it takes more skill from the driver. I guess when racing the closes thing to that is a sequential XD Hey you still got a stick xD
@DocWolph ok my lack of english skill here. When you wrote Japanese racing "ethos", do you mean the Japanese racing culture?
Japan has a few famous long tracks. I drove on them, in Forza games, wahaha.
Ok that was a bad joke.
Regarding manuals. True, a car company wouldn't want to build a fast car, yet fit it with a traditional gearbox. Them shouldn't forget about us, the enthusiasts... :(
I mean even as I race, the most I would go is sequential box, with a stick. pls see my vids.
@golferchin76 "ethos"? I may have chosen a poor word. Anyway, as people demand cars be faster, more fuel efficient, and easier to at least live with, I can only see DSGs/DCTs taking over. But if the Veyron is any indication, it is possible to have a DSG w/ manual shifting. You won't have to work a clutch, if you don't want, and you can forget about missing a gear. I think that is a workable compromise.
NSx spirit is gone the moment they forgot the stick. Even godzilla feels M3 SMG-esque even though the acceleration was insanely scary fast.
but I think in production trim the V8 is not going to rev to 10300rpm. I think it would be limited at 8500 just like K20A Type Rs. at 9000 even Ferrari's can't take that for production car I think.
and man.....V10 and V8, that's a whole lot of difference. Well, it should be much cheaper than, no cheap V10 cars, and godzill's got a miserable V6
@golferchin76 I say the NSX spirit was gone once they took out the MR layout. I mean the goal of the NSX was to create a F1 feel. Superior throttle and steer response with a MR layout like a F1 car. Honda didnt really need to redevelop a new car. All they need to do was make a more powerful engine for the NA2 chassis. THey shouldve jsut slapped a Longitudinal Mounted V10, strengthen the suspension, brakes so it could take that amount of power and GG. ONE hell of a super car.
@c312eal Oh...got it about your definition of NSX spirit.
That NSX chassis' been in existence for 15 yrs. Do you think it still will be competitive with modern platforms?
Now the mid mounted longitudinal V10 (not sure about if v10 will be too long for MR set up) would seriously kick some asses, and put Honda at the Lamborghini level. That's the company that still produce RR,R4wd layout production cars. Other RR car companies produce too small amount of cars.
@golferchin76 If honda makes a super car again, i bet you it wont be stick shift cause the car has to be faster than the GTR. One thing that makes the GTR fast is the pedal shift. No human can shift as fast as pedal shifters.
@c312eal you bet I get what u mean, I just don't want to accept the truth lol.
NSX will be faster than the fat GT-R even with stick. I really don't care if it does 0.1sec more than GT-R going 0-100km/h, as long as it comes with an option for manual. But the trend is pedal shift and with a stick in the center of the car, immediately people will think shit about Honda, while a small group of enthusiasts cheer on. True those pedal shift's lightening fast, I just can't live without a clutch pedal.
@golferchin76 Like I said, release a new NA2 NSX with a V10 Longituadinal mounted engine with a Sequential Tranmission so you get your STICK (: Rework the suspension and brakes and GG. Not only will it beat the GTR it'll give all the top ferrari's and porsches a run for its money.
@golferchin76 no, They just didnt want to see the NSX pwn all the other cars so much. They even decided to raise the minimum weigh requirements. Minimum weigh for NSX was 1150kg while the SC430 and GTR was 1100KG. The NSX having better aerodynamics than any other car including supra, r35, r34, fairlady z, and sc430 had a advantage in cornering so Super GT introduced the flat bottom rule. Which that every car's bottom must be flat, therefore the NSX didnt make as much downforce.
that's strange. Super GT 300&500 had a few MR layout cars. One being MR-S, and the other was NSX. Then there were a few strange chassis that's not FR. So you are saying as of now Super GT only allows FR cars to compete? Any reason for the rule change, for fairer competition?
now that 3.4 L V8 rule. So that means even the godzilla wasn't using a stock turbo'ed V6 retuned to 500? There's a FIA GT version of godzilla that's using a stock engine retuned on youtube. looks much more stock though.
you mentioned hondas 4wd. I.....I don't recall from my knowledge about Honda producing 4wd? They are good at FWD and few RWD chassis. care to point out to me?
Sequential pedal again.......at least they could do sequential stick. I just hope on the production at least they offer stick option. Was interested at godzilla even though it was ugly, but gave up over the pedal shift 'only' option.
stick shift w/ clutch = a tiny bit slower, not slow. , pedal shift = novice driver, and unautomotive, ha.
if they stick with that front engine thing they showed last year its gonna fail, any new 'nsx' should be a mid ship as it represents their F1 and JGTC effort
One thing for sure it shouldnt be down on da power. Its going to have a 5 liter V10. So power shouldnt be a issue. Lets jus hope it handles as good as the older one
Honda BETTER live up to this unbeleivably good car. When they build the new nsx, it better live true to the same values upon which the original NSX was built upon.
