  • the music at the start sounds so uplifting!

  • where do u buy your eye shadow pans and spatula?

  • OMG, Thanks you so much for this video, I broke my sisters eyeshadow, and now I can fix it, I wont have to buy her a new one.

  • can you use this with larger pans such as blushes??? also how many times can you press on shadow?...what about matte face powders? please please please respond! =)

  • won't the alcohol damage your eyes?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • I love you!

  • Thank you soo much!! :)

  • Wow! I had never thought of this before. I've thrown away so much eyeshadow because I thought it couldn't be saved. That you so much! ^^

  • I want to thank you for giving such great videos! I love how crafty you are! Coming from a home that was always doing DIY projects, your videos really strike home! Great ideas, please keep it up!

  • im addicted to your videos haha

  • So happy I found this! I'm a face and body painter. The paint is essentially water-based makeup. Do you think this method would work well when I have to re-pot my cake paint? Some of the colors are really crumbly (vs. the mushy ones).

  • Do you have a tip for duo-eye shadows? I had a set of Stila trios break in the mail (they refunded me but told me to keep it) and I just tossed it out as it seemed unsalvagable- do you have any tips for future references?

  • does this work with mineral eyeshadow?

  • how do i press if the pot is akward shaped

  • @duckyxoxo3 I marked the silhoutte in a cardboard and then cut and checked if it fits the pan. Then depending of the kind of cardboard I get, I cover ir with adhesive plastic or I redraw it over a harder material such as plastic from a blister package or something else and I use this instead of a coin!

  • You are such a wonderful teacher...I pressed pigments for the 1st time today and now I'm addicted...pressing eyeshadows tomorrow...haha....THANKS!!!!

  • I tried this with one of the eyeshadows from the 120 palette because it broke during travel and it did something strange to the powder. My shadow ended up hard and unusable. The pigment wouldn't come up at all.

  • @erixa5 the eyeshadows were most likely matte. this works on satin, shimmer, ect but not matte. matte ends up becoming rock hard because unlike satin and shimmers, it doesnt have the effects that add texture to break up the mixture. try watching watching his video on how to press mineralized shadows. that will help next time

  • Fantastic video. I am going to try this for myself!

  • Could this also be used for powdered foundation?

  • @shaynaash

I think it applys to all powdered makeup, in theory it would work. :)

  • What is the song that starts at the beginning please?

  • hi enkore, so i want to let you know about somethings. can you show me how to do smoke eye for look perfect with the black color. B/c when i put the black color on, that look dark and weird. However, i love your video. Helen

  • HI,kOREN I LOVE UR VIDEOS AND UR BEUTIFUL SMILE TKX 4 UR VIDEOS ..

  • Don't you lose a lot of product in the plastic bag? (also with melting the lipsticks...)

There remains alot of product at the tools.... it seems..... :S

  • good vid, but please cut your nails! yucky...

  • i really learned alot from you, thank you for the information. and the info about those brushes also. tham=nk you so much. flea.

  • You are one of a kind!Every video is better than the last!Thank You!

  • Thank you so much! I've been looking for how to do this for a while! I have a huge carrying case of makeup, but I wanted to transfer the colors into smaller sets. I would have just re-potted them but my pallette had rectangular slots.. Thank you tons - I'm going to go try it now :]

  • u r unbelievable!!! u have a solution 4 everything... and guess what??? urs always works n r easy 2 do too ... wooow i m so glade 2 found ur tutorial..u r my guide =))))))))))))))))))))

  • Simply awesome!

  • love the video

    awesome!

  • Shoobedoo doobedoo doobedoo daba daba deedo!!

I wish you had your own tv show where you introduce all the new shades of various brands each season, do unbiased comparisons and maybe experiments to compare brands (drying times and durability, etc. of different d/s brands for example) and of course, tutorials!

  • i'm soooo glad I stumbled onto you vids!! i'm receiving some makeup in the mail in a couple of days and i'm going to use the cd case idea to make my own palette plus free up space in my bathroom!! also I have some sephora loose powder i'm going to try to press for the first time! wish me luck!!!

  • i tried this and my eyeshadows smell really bad now and the outside is cracking

any tips to help these problems

  • is it true that this wont work on finely milled eyeshadows like stila's? i hv a few cracked stila eyeshadows that i would like to fix!

  • i use alchohol wipes and stick a coin between the wipe and then i press it works well for me :)

  • Hey I know this is a really old vid but I just shattered some shadows in my Stila Pearl palette and would love some advice, it's harder since they're rectangular pans and all in one palette. TIA!!

  • i used a row of pennies ^__^

  • Do you love this guy or what?!

What a great teacher - perfect video guidance; good timing, speaks clearly, visual instruction perfectly clear - what a lucky find! Kudos Enkore! yer gonna save me a lotta money!

    Redmiss :) xoxoxo

  • does this really work on loose pigments? i have some i just reallly hate loose pigments bc its so much harder to work with...

    awesome video btw!

  • Koren you are amazing! Does this work for duo shadows also?

  • thanks enkore! this was really helpful!! could you do a tutorial on how to...reshape or pot a lippie? cuz my lipstick sorta..broke and has indentations on the sides...so could you help me with that?? thank!! XD

  • hi enkore, i am going to follow your tutorial and fix my broken face powder; i really love your explanation! It is really clear , you can use this for anything I suppose? shattered; eyeshadows, bronzers, compact powders, blushers and stuff?

  • ENKORE!!! i shattered a bronzer, im gona follow your tutorial and try to press it... just a few questions though, where do i buy the alcohol from? and, what could i use to press the bronzer cos a coin would be too small! its a playboy bronzer by the way, just to give you an idea ;) xx thanks dude xxxxx

  • that's fantastic..thank u tons..very very helpful

  • Thank You so much for this one! I have a few eye shadows in my make up case that I have broken. They tend to leak powder in my case but I can't bare to throw throw them out because I love the colors. Thank You for teaching me how to fix them.

  • dis thing just make me want to crack up my eyeshadow and try it out

  • this song makes me feel happy x)

  • u are amazing!!=)

  • thank you so much.. you are ridiculously awesome!!

  • AWESOME!

  • you my friend rock my socks!!! I had the SAME dilemma as your friend today and i was so sad!!! ty soooo much for your amazing videos

  • HI enkore ..can I use this to fix my MAC STUDIO FIX FOUNDATION or is only for eye shadow ???

  • i just mixed up the alcohol with the eyeshadow, i hope i didn't do anything wrong becuz it seems to be pretty dry already ^^ thx for the video

  • i think it's funny,, this is the first eyeshadow i've had to fix and its the xact same one you did in the video, thank you so much.

  • thanks for making this vid. I have one shadow from mac that they dont make any more and it shadered! :( Thanks for the help!

  • Very helpful. Thank you so much for posting this. I wasn't sure what to do with my shattered eyeshadows, and I didn't really want to throw them away.

  • will this work with blushes?

  • I just repaired one of my MAC shadows with just alcohol. Once it was completely dry, the shadow had cracked. This shadow is a velvet finish, could that be a reason why this happened? Or did I not pressed it properly?

  • I did this today with one of my shadows from NYX and it still smells like the alcohol... is this normal will it go away?

  • yeah it will go away once it completely dries

  • Thanks so much for this video!!! I was depotting one of my MAC eyeshadow and it cracked and shattered when I lifted the pan off the plastic. I'm so glad that I can save the eyeshadow now that I know how to press it back. Thanks again!!

  • Keep making this type of videos.

Also, can't wait to see your reply on the viewer that asked about the Pressing Medium. I am considering ordering that instead of using alcohol, but, now after reading her comments I might wait until I see your reply.

I have never ever used pallets, but, after watching your videos I am going to pressed all of my minerals and pigments and invest in some pallets so I can take my eye makeup on the road with me.

  • can i use 70 percent alcohol?

  • yes 70% works fine just allow longer drying time. The higher the % the faster it dries.

  • oh my gosh i never knew that lol thanks [:

    your a big help!

  • CAN I PRESS MY FACE POWDER...????

  • i just broke one of my most fave shadows got really upset and was ready to chuck it away then i remembered you had an eyeshadow-pressing tut...OMG u are a livesaver!!!!!!!! thank you thank you thank you

  • Do you know where I could get an alchohol like yours?

  • I got mine at walgreens

  • I have two questions

1.Why does my matte eyeshadow when I sweep my brush on it the product will not go on the brush? That happens when I use the pressed matte eyeshadow that I used the Mixing Medium to press it.

2.When I use alcohol on my matte eyeshadow it all cracks and falls apart. Even when I have let it dry like I'm supposed to before pressing.

  • I have 2 questions:Why does the matte shadow not come out right?

    1. If I use the mixing medium on matte shadows ,when I try sweeping my brush on it,the product will not go on my brush, then I look in the pan and it looks like I put lotion on the top and it's sticky.

2.Or they crack and fall apart.

    What can I do?

  • Thank you so much for this!!! I was depotting two mac eyeshadows for the first time a couple of days ago and i broke both of them.. This process made them brand new again. Thank you!

  • koren, you are freakin awesome

    galing mo!!

  • I used this on my 120 palette that I ordered and it came with 2 broken shadows. it was hard to manuever w/o effecting the other colors but I used scotch tape to cover the surrounding colors and then just worked very slowly and carefully. It worked wonderfully and Im very excited!!!

    Thank you!

  • I LOVE you ♥

  • Your friend is super lucky to have you as a friend =)

  • very informative! my urban decay X has been broken for a while and i saved it hoping there was some way to salvage it... so i'm trying your method right now. i'm so excited! thanks

  • Dear Koren..i watched the mineral pressing and you used mixing medium. But for this you used alcohol. Can you explain the difference? Is there a difference on using alcohol or mixing medium when its shimmering eyeshadow and matte eyeshadow?

  • face & body mixing medium contains cyclomethicone and dimethecone which is whats going to press matte, fine powders, and mineral shadows. For regular eyeshadows that are corse like most MAC pigments, alcohol is need to temporarily fuse the metallic ingredients.

  • you are a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is there any alternative to alchol?

  • hey koren...is there anything else i can use instead of glycerine ? :) thx for your help!

  • glycerin? for what? pressing eyeshadows? you need alcohol, not glycerin.

  • Thanks for your great tips!

    They are very helpful ;)

  • i hope u havent answered this a billion times and i didnt catch it BUT i got my 120 pro palette and it came with a couple of the shadows shattered :( how do i fix it cuz i cant remove the pan or anything? do i like break the shadow up in the pan and basically do what u did in this video? will it still work for that?

    NEED HELP PLEASE!:{

  • I dunno what a 120 palette is constructed like, but if you can remove the pan and repress, then do that, then just glue it back to the palette. Just try to find around the house what you can use to press just be creative.

  • will the alchohol change the color of the eyeshawdow?

  • no, no change in color.

  • can we use anything else apart from alcohal, as i dont drink n dont have it.

  • rubbing alcohol, not drinking alcohol. also caled Isopropyl or Isoprophenol. Alcohol is needed to fuse the metals in the ingredients. Otherwise it will dry back to loose powder state.

  • Hey, loved the video! COuld this technique work with MAC Studio Fix Foundation or Blush?

  • yes

  • Does this work on blushes as well?

  • only on regular non-mineral blushes.

  • Koren-what happens if the powder isn't pressed at all or not enough? I mean, what if you just mix it with the alcohol and let it dry? Nope, I haven't done my shadow yet. =D But I did get some palettes from coastalscents and can't wait to press all 88 of my loose pigments. Yeah...88 tiny jars of them.I also want to press my minerals.

  • it needs to be pressed so that the metal particales bind and compacts. Otherwise, they will dry in loose form, or dry semi solid with air bubble holes

  • I recently just dropped my favorite eyeshadow, and it just exploded in the pot, and I was laboring over the shattered-ness in an (unruly and quite covered in lime green shadow, before work) kindve mess that didnt do anything besides make an even bigger mess and more loss of product and I pressed it the other day, and omg it's soo wonderful to have it whole again.

    You're amazing! <33

  • what can i use as a substitute for the alcohol?

answers would be desperately appreciated :)

    x

  • could you use fix+ instead of alcohol?

  • no, regular shadow ingredients are metallic in nature and alcohol is the only thing that will safely fuse those metals together to press.

  • Omg! Thank you so much for this! I just fixed my fav eyeshadow!

  • does it work better if you use a mixture of alcohol and glycerin? i think i heard somewhere it does, but idk

  • no it will turn to gooey clay if you use that on regular shadows.

  • Hi Koren, I was wondering if you can do a tutorial on pressing mineralized foundation in a full sized compact? Also if it can be achieved just by using a mixing medium?

    Thank you!

    Cammy

  • hey do u have to use alcohol can i use water?or wat not

  • water will not work.

  • oh my gosh! i have just discovered your channel! you are phenominal!

i was really upset when my favourite, quite expensive bronzer broke. would this technique work if i could find a large press? can it work on bronzer or only sparkly eyeshadow! this will save me so much money cos i can fix everthing i have broken! thanks!

  • yes it works on bronzer

  • Perfect! I have an expensive Alexis Vogel shadow (same type/color in the video it looked like) that I just saw the other day that had shattered in its holder as well. Still not sure how because I didn't drop it. I haven't even used it for months! So, I am now going to give this technique a whirl and save it. I almost threw it away. Thank you. You saved me money on having to buy a new one. =D The mineral pressing is next on my to do's!

  • Nice

  • Ok so almost 3 years later =P

Thanks for the GREAT tutorial! I have this shadow that I love.. And just had to stop taking it on trips couse it broke =/ Gunna fix it NOW! LoL!

Thanks so much again, love all your videos =)

Xxoo and have a great christmas and new year !

    Love 4rm brasil x)

  • Hello I was trying to figure out how much dry pigment does it take fill the empty shadow pan?

  • depending on the pigment, there are coarse pigments and fine pigments - coarse ones takes about 1/4 teaspoon and finer ones takes about 1/2 teaspoon. So to be safe always plan on 1/2 teaspoon.

  • omg i love you. u seriously saved like 7 of my eyeshadows <3<3

  • Hi!! You are amazing... I love watch your tutorials... You explain everithing so beautiful, it's really helpfull!!

I'm a Make Up artist to but oh my god, i have so many things to learn... Thanks for your videos and please keep doing them...

And, if you want, please check my channel and my web site and let me know what do you think about my work... Bye Bye

  • This was real neat! i am excited!! Hahaha...I work at a coffee shop so the first thing i though of when i saw this is pressing espresso grinds for shots...hahaha

  • hehehe mmmm espresso shots!!

  • i guess you could also mix some colors and make a new color, yeah? :)

  • yes definitely!

  • I lost some many shadows in the call of duty, if only I had known this.

    But now I know, thanks!

  • i think that your friend is going to think u bought her a new one!!! it looks great!

  • why do you haveto yuse alcohol can you youse water

  • no water wont work, it will cause a crusty surface - alcohol evaporates and dries fast without leaving any crusting.

  • Thank you EnKore! Now I can go fix my favorite CARGO eyeshadow...my only problem will be that CARGO pans are pretty large...a bit too big for a quarter T_T Guess I'll have to get creative.

  • Ingenious.....thank you!

  • Hey Koren, TY SO much for doing this tutorial. I have broken about 5 pots, depotting my eyeshadows and now they are just as new as when I bought them. Hugs to you my friend -

  • what should i use press my shadow if it is a squarish shape? i love your videos btw =]

  • This is such a lifesaver!! Does it change the consistency of the shadow at all?

  • no it doesnt change the consistency.

  • What would I do if only one side of my HIP duo cracked? How do I fix it? And I also have a duo from mary kay where one side is shattered? Can you help me plz???

  • OMG: This helped so much now i can press some of my broken shadows thankyou so much EnKore!

  • omg.. I love you.. you helped me rescue my favorite eyeshadow!! Thank you so much for this excellent video!!

  • Thankyou so much, I've got a few shadows I can fix now :)

  • i can't wait to try this out. i was wondering if you've ever tried repairing or mixing lipstick? i had a few colors i didn't like so i tried to mix them together and reform them back into the tube, and my method working good enough to use, but the product is not as hard and sturdy as it should be.

  • hey cherie - yeah I have videos on melting lipsticks you can mix colors to come up with new colors/shades. Fun fun fun.

  • beautiful!

  • This is amazing. Unfortunately I saw it AFTER I threw away three NARS shadows last week. Thank you for the very clear instruction however, next time I won't be so hasty!

  • OMG!! You poor thing! NARS isn't cheap! I have a NARS duo that needs saving so I'm SO SO glad I saw this. Well, now we know!

  • EnKore, You are such a fantastic professionl makeup artist, with a world of great ideas. Thank you. I will share this video with my makeup teacher. She showed us a broken blush in class today.

  • thanks mamacita!

  • Thank you for this tutorial! Do you have any suggestions for what kind of object to use to press a shattered 88 palette shadow? They are smaller than a dime:0(

  • ok, I found this tool at Michaels used to set rhinestones, and one thing I liked about it is that its got that concaved shape to it, which kinda matches that domed top on the 88-colors.

  • I removed the sifter of my pigment samples, and i pressed them right in there, instead of a coin I used the back of a really thick edding marker. Now I'm not afraid of dropping or spilling them. And it's great, because you can do this with a very small amount of pigment.

  • Hello Koran I have a question. I have a mineralized mac eyeshadow, one of those with swirls of different colors. It recently broke, is it possible for me to fix it? I am just worried about it turning into another color if I crush it all together.

  • yeah theres no way of fixing those min shadows with swirls. If it was one color, you can, but not the swirly kind it will turn to one color.

  • wow your tutorials are very helpful!

can you do the same tutorial on rectangular eyeshadow, such as the NARS single eyeshadow? mine broke and i have no idea how to press it.

  • its the same exact process - the only challenge is finding a press to use that is the same size as your shadow - but just have a look around your house and see what works. You can even cut a piece of hard cardboard and wrap that in aluminum foil.

  • It really worked!! I used this method on my coastal scents 24 pallete. One shadow came broken. Thanks!

  • is it ok to use rubbing alcohol??

  • hey thumbelina - thats what I use

  • Hey Koren, u are so awsome and i love all of your videos! I find them so adicting!Keep up the very good work!!!=)

  • will it be okay to just keep it in its original jar after putting in the alcohol and mixing and just letting it dry. does putting it in a diff jar and pressing it make any diff?

  • hey chicana - you can use any container you like.

  • hi koran. Can i do this if i don't want to have like lose powder or blush??

  • hey Essy - yes, definitely! you can press loose powders for less mess.

  • omgg! im just about to go on holiday and i dropped one of my shadows on the floor :( but thnx to u i fixed it! :D woo thnx u! ur amazing!!!

  • omg u saved my life! jus abt to go on holiday and i dropped one of my very few mac shadows on the floor! :( but thnx to u i fixed it! :D ur amazing thnx u soooo much :D

  • i love this cause i was wondering about the powders and stuff. thanx soo much

  • i swear... you are a genius!!! LOOOOVE watching your videos!!!! Your amazing ENKORE!!! keep the vids coming!

  • that is awesome. I cant wait to try this!

  • I mean, obviously you are a teacher here, and youre doing a great service on youtube, but if you ever start a cosmotology school; let me know.

  • You should be a teacher. Youd be such an amazing teacher. Seriously, few people have that gift. Think about it.

  • awe, thats sweet, thank you! :)

  • Hey Koren, great tutorial.....as always ^_^. I found a couple of broken e/s's laying around this morning and am going to use the method in your tutorial to fix them and make them like new again but was wondering if the alcohol, although a very small amount obviously, would have any effect on any part of the e/s's? Do you think it would effect sheen, shine, glitter or staying and application power or consistancy?

Thanx again for the awesome tutorial Koren! Keep it up.

  • hey shy- the alcohol just act as a temporary binder and it will complete evaporate. SO far, I never experienced any change in textures, finish, color change etc in those I used this method in.

  • How do you think of this stuff?! Thanks!!

  • BRAVO !!!!

  • you are the best!!!! i love you!!!!

  • thanks!! you are amazing....

  • youre awesome!
