Johnny Mathis the greatest singer ever in this lifetime, kissed me once too...on the cheek only because I turned my head thinking it would be too forward as it was my first meet with him.(boy was I naive then)..it was one of the top 10 moments of my life.. What a singer..they both are but Johnny is my idol of all time.. Bless you Johnny. And thank you for sharing this video with us.

@35777 maybe johnny and jane got emotionally touched while they were on duet. because the song was so full of romantic verses yet its so simple. They both sing with their hearts inside that express emotion. yes, it could be, jane was so lucky on that moment. it is obvious and it could be seen on their faces that they were both overwhelmed to the song they are singing. and that's it, they don't mind what the audiences witnessed as they simply kissed without hesitation.

This appears to be the performance at the 1979 Oscars. This song should have won the Oscar that year, but the Academy in its infinite wisdom saw fit to award Donna Summer's song, having snubbed Saturday Night Fever the year before. This is when I lost all respect for the Academy Awards.

Today, we still find Mathis at the "peak" of the mountain whenever he sings and he remains the kind of artist who has always embraced change and has consistently risen above the irrelevancy of time for those who can truely appreciate the depth and evolution of his artistry and his spirit ~ and how absolutely unique and magical he continues to stand apart from the mundane. Lucky are we who have the vision to see it all. We are the shadow that does not fall far from the tree.

@lenoremewton It is so true. This is such a touching performance in that it is obvious how much Olivor adores the moment after years of being a part of his audience. Sometimes life fates a dream-come-true, as it did for her . She is performing again, so maybe there will be a reprise. It would be wonderful.

How come Jane Olivor is hardly known in the UK? Such a waste, as she has such a beautiful voice.
There also seems to be so few of her albums released here as well.
Her management and Columbia records really should do far more to get her to become a household name here
