It's funny, I'm not a huge Squeeze fan, but I went to their show with my friend who is a huge fan. They were excellent. He filmed this after the show. I'm a guitar player and couldn't figure out the chords for the maid Marion part and it was driving me nuts. Every cover version on YouTube is wrong, as is every tab ! So I figured that I had the perfect opportunity to ask the man himself... hopefully cover bands get it right now. I'm glad this was useful to slipkid 10 after 25 years Ab6+7 G6+7
@johnconk I saw Squeeze on the current tour last night. It was the fifth time I've seen them since 1982, and as usual, they put on a great show. May they continue to make new fans!
This is fantastic! This solves a 25-year-old riddle for me, never was quite sure how to finger the voicing for those two chords, and they are *exactly* the ones Mr. Tilbrook explains here, Ab6+7 and G6+7. Amazing. He is truly a gentleman, as I got all the other pieces of the puzzle for Pulling Mussels from the tab he was kind enough to post himself on the squeezefan website. He even goes out of his way to compliment the previous "valiant efforts" to tab it by certain Squeeze fans.
@slipkid10 Thing is, he's not spelling the chords right. A chord that has both the 6th & 7th, especially when voiced w/the 6th on top, is a 13th chord-not a 6+7 chord-no such thing. Also, tho he might be barring the chord so that the 7th is under his index finger, the 7th is being deadened, & isn't audible. The chord he describes w/both the 7th & 6th, has a distinct jazzy sound. What I hear very clearly (& what I've played in the nearly 30 yrs I've known this song) are 6th chords: Ab6 and G6.

That's brilliant. How many top musicians would have the time, patience and courtesy to do what you see in this clip!

The guy is such an accommodating gentleman. Approachable. Exceptional for someone who was a fairly big rock/pop star.
