Sry but i have to add some critical points to your work. At first i cant do it better i just want to help you understand how you can do it even better. The Song lacks very much variation. (Always saying the same / No faster or slower parts / Everyone singing along with the other members without individual solo parts) Also the quality makes the voices sound tinny and sometimes there are cracks. I wont add this as fav but i will subscribe to the channel. Want to see the next (even better?) work.

I just wanted to say that the song is like that ! I mean, no faster or slower parts because of the song ! It must be sung like that (Same thing if we're always saying the same, it's not really our fault, actually). And for the "everyone singing along" ... Well, we're a choir, though ! =P But anyway, maybe there will be solos in our next songs (hope so ! **)

Thanks for the comment but as Ania said this is a choral piece without solos and is meant to sound uniform. We sang it as is. There will be songs with solos in the new year.

Thank you for your comment! ^_^ I agree it would be better if we had original compositions to sing - ones that were written specifically for our choir and voices. But as this was our first song we had to go with something already written. We only have one or two people in our group with enough skills in music theory to really 'compose' anything... and as we get more organized we will probably try to utilize these people more, or even just try harder to find choral pieces that have more solos.

You should try using an something already written. Not important what. The main thing is to recompose it. Giving parts to single members. Using Instruments to bring up the atmosphere. Mixing up the texts for multiple singers singing different parts. Set up a nice intro to show off the voice range or harmony. Most important is to time everything perfect and do your own song out of the already written one. You could sing 1000 words of FF X-2 as choir too. You could ask katethegreat for advices =)

Thanks for the tips ^.^ We really wanted to go for a more choral sound for Elysium rather than solos, but we will be having some solo parts in future pieces. We don't make our own instrumentals, as unfortunately, we don't have the musical skills or equipment that Kate has. This has the sound we actually wanted for this particular song. Also we are working on an intro. =]

Oh yes, recomposing songs would be lovely but we only have one or two members with enough music theory background to be able to do this well. We are also rather limited in what instruments we have as a group, I think we have several pianists though! ^_^

Our next piece is an acappella arrangement of silent night with some beautiful harmonies. Although some of our coming songs for next year should have solo parts as well.

Kate did give us several great tips early on, she is such an inspiration!

The piece we sang is a choral piece, not a solo work. I understand you may be used to Kate's compositions and arrangements, but you don't always have to change what you are singing...

Sometimes it's nice to just use the composer's notes and sing a piece the way it was written. I'm not saying it's wrong to change a song, but I know that I am not a better composer as say, Eric Whitacre, so there's no way I would dare to try to change a beautiful piece that he composed. There were no solo's in this piece, therefore we did not sing any...

The ONLY thing I could critique us on is our lack of dynamics, but all in all I say we did an outstanding job for our very first song together. We will be singing songs with solo's in the future, but For this piece we accomplished exactly what we set out to do.

What Instruments you use or who sings what parts thats all up to you.
