Myths, ghost, ufos, the boogieman, old holy books, monsters in the closet- none of them put fear in me. Driving a car- which is real, solid and can be very really dangerous, especially when you are trusting other very real people driving other very real cars are driving behind you, beside you and sometimes cross your path. HUGE difference. SO the fear I have for very real, very provable and indisputable things is more along the lines of healthy respect for. Because I continue to drive the road.
Yes, a car crash and a steering wheel are very real and scary things. God and Jesus are very phony things. Hence, they do not scare me. At all. Save your fear mongering for the less intelligent of the species.
For some reason, stories about virgin-mothered deities or prophets with twelve followers and miraculous powers and so on and so on had been popular in the middle east and neighbouring areas for ages and ages, and before "Jesus" those mythical heroes had been given 24 or 25 different other names. Hehe, but the 26th time the story/fairy-tale was told, it was suddently a TRUE story?? Hehe, yeah right..fat chance, eh? As if a fairy-tale grows true if you repeat it enough times? Sorry, but it doesn't
There would have been hundreds of contemporaries describing stuff about "Jesus" if he had been real, but the christians only have a fake entry in J. Flavius that bishop Eusebius made some time around the meeting in Nicea, and they have Tacitus who states that there are christians in Rome, just like there were members of lots and lots of other religions too. Tacitus never claims that "Jesus" was there, so as "evidence" it has zero value. Fact is that "Jesus" was a new name for a classic myth-hero
The reason there are so many versions of "what Jesus Said", is that "Jesus" is pure fiction, and all his authors, his inventors, had different opinions and agendas of course. As I said, he never lived for real, and if all the stories about him were real, he would have had to live for hundreds of years because there are so many stories set at different locations. We didn't have cars or planes back then, so traveling was very, very slow. And had he been real, hundreds of contemporaries would say so
If the God of Abraham is the force I will meet after death, and he clearly sees the wisdom and compassion and strength I have gained from my Buddhist practice, then he would be proud of me, as his creation, just like my earthly father is. My Dad is very proud and happy for me. If all Jews, Muslims and Buddhists, who are all human beings created by God as stated in Genesis(your bible) are hellbound just for being different, I want NO PART OF HIM!
the only way to the Father is through the Son, if you reject Him, than you reject the God who sends Him out, why would God give an "attaboy" to someone who rejected him? it's not about being different, it's about what they are putting their trust in
I just had a look at the Amazon previews of Ray Comfort's new book You Can Lead an Atheist to Evidence, But You Can't Make Him Think. Have a look; you won't believe your eyes! Comfort thinks that according to evolution, man and woman evolved separately but simultaneously, water evolved just in time for them to drink it, and that gravity evolved just in time to hold them to the earth! It's really the most astounding drivel I've ever seen. Have a look! (Yes, he's the banana guy)
The flaw with this "crash test dummy" analogy is that we can actually demonstrate a crash test & the skeptic can watch the dummy twist & contort himself. Xtians can't do that with their hell.
Christians believe that the bible is truth, so if they truly believe wouldn't you expect them to use any means possible to keep you from a place like that?
Oh, yes. The good intentions are there, no doubt. However, when one receives bad news, isn't it proper to test the bad news for validity?
I mean, if you received an email claiming your kids were kidnapped, you'd bolt to their room to see if they were still there. You'd look for any evidence that the threat was unfounded.
And yet, Christians do not do this. They care, which is admirable. Yet when told that their worries are totally groundless, they react as if THAT were the bad news.
i recognize your argument. the problem that arises is that not all that is real can be seen. acts 17:11 expresses that we should search the word and see if these things be true. following every whim that comes along will lead you down strange paths. even as a christian one must examine what they believe to see if they are in denial to the truth and following a lie. my point is to never stop examining what you believe. God bless
I am a Buddhist, which doesn't focus on god worship, but the pursuit of wisdom. I do understand what compassion and being true to my heart is. If I worship a god out of fear and not sincerity, isn't that lying in my heart, and a sin in and of itself? the3w01fv2 is right. Ray must realize that people CAN develop a moral center without believing in a creator diety.
Well answer this, how can you or any other faith save themselves from the sins you have committed? Do you think that you can just say you are sorry and God is just going to forgive you? As Ray teaches if people think that their sins are not an abomination, they wont' think they have done anything wrong, but the bible says if you tell one lie you will not enter God's kingdom. So if a person hasn't repented and put their trust in Jesus alone, they will end up in Hell, and then the lake of fire.
@badpanda84 Well that's true, but that doesn't matter because the law shows what sin is, and Jesus and others in the bible made it clear what sin is, so there is no excuse.
@theflashy20 really that still dosent explain the book of levitcus. All the bible shows is that the idea of "sin" is flexible and subject to change For instance in the old testement you cant eat pork or shell fish but in the new testement you cam
@badpanda84 Actually it doesn't because the scripture in Leviticus isn't for everyone, but it was focus on the Jews, and the law and breaking them was for everyone. So what do you believe because I'm not understanding where you are coming from with your questions?
@theflashy20 the point is that "sin" isnt consistant. So you meant to tell me that there is one set of rules for the Jews and another set for everyone else.
There is not such thing as sin. It's merely a cultral thing
Of Course! People SHOULD understand and fear hell. But hell can only peak a persons curiosity. Commitment to Christ comes only from the understanding of what Christ did for you, what He saved you from, & love of Him for his act of unadulterated love. We cant MAKE a person become a Christian, but its our DUTY to warn people of what Godlessness can do to you. Its up to them after that.

@theflashy20 well keep in mind that the defintion of what is a "sin" changes depending on the time and culture.
Take the book of levicutis for example it was a "sin to eat pork"

No he didnt. If Jesus made himself more clear there wouldnt be so many denomiations of christainity who cant seem to agree with what he said
