its clear that most of the words were taken from english, but sometimes the words are from german language or at least the way they are spoken is more german than english
Cool! Some of the English words are really close to the Japanese translation. I need to make time for my Rosetta Stone lessons...lol. But thanks for posting Hiroko, I'll check out more of your videos. God bless. :)
Loved the video..I know Japanese is unique but the katakana words. They mind as well be speaking English. It's no reason to make the English word sound Japanese, I would rather have them use Japanese words for things instead of a japanese sounding english word. Great video Hiroko
your vidieo was informative, it shows people a part of japan,is it expensive to live in the city?for instance, how much was your meal at subways, i plan to publish my books in japan, one of poetry and one of samuris and knights, hopefully ill perform in the streets,i dance and cut oranges w/a wooden sword, for alittle while i make the people happy.i need all the friends i can get, please pass my name around,,hector.
woww sugoi, can you make a video how to order a sandwish in japanese. like when you step inside the store they usually say irashaimase....but after that what else do they say. and how can i say i want a xxx sandwish.
Ok its not lost on me how Japanese adapt english word (albeit pronounced a bit different) in to their every day usage but please answer me this. I feel that the english word and the the Japanese pronounciation are very very similar so why is it that or it would seem that most Japanese dont understand it when an english speaker would say those words with out the Japanese twist to it? Or may be its just me? LOL!!! Keep up the good work!!! You give a great insite to your culture. Arigato goziemasu!
also i had to say this vid struck me funny... a friend of mine years ago was stationed in Japan. he often said many words borrowed are similar, just add a vowel sound at the end... hence.. "roasto beefa" hehe =)
japanesepod101 is awesome! ive been watching vids there for awhile. it was later i saw your personal channel here. both are very entertaining as well as educational. keep up the good work hiroko san ;-)
I was surprised by the lesson because I thought you meant underground train station and not the sandwich shop! How about a lesson on the subway in your local area?
I think you can answer that question better than anyone. You need to learn it yourself how quickly you can learn instead of getting confirmation from others. You know it best! Ganbatte!
I can't promise you for sure but 14 hours/day is alot!!! Ur really depends on people, and how you study! I totally recommend learning from JapanesePod101 podcasts! ;-)
14hrs/day everyday for a year? That's more than enough if you can stay focus. 14 hours/day language learning isn't easy but if you are serious about it, def. Yes.
I'm beginning to believe, if I speak english with a Japanese accent, I will be understood in Japan. Next you will tell me hamburger is pronounced Ha mu bu ga. lol. No need to respond. I already know how it is pronounced.

As I see if Japanese people doesn!t have a word for something, they simply use the English word, using their own "syllables".
But I think you should try to create new words from your own language.
