actually no it wasn't brian kennedy was the initial singer. It was originally released on the 2002 Secret Garden album "Once in a Red Moon", with the vocals sung by Irish singer Brian Kennedy, and sold well in both Ireland and Norway. The song was then used for the 2001 September 11th terrorist attacks, which was when groban came into the song. I like his version too, but it can't be called the original.
