  • Much respect to you guys building it up. I used to have a puegot carbolite 103 frame, good frame, outlasted many new frames on the market.

  • I have the next model Peugeot up (all Reynolds 531, full chrome fork) that I bought new in 1980. Thinking hard about single-speed since my pseudo-racer days are over. Curious why you needed a spacer on the drive side? Plus, there doesn't appear to be all that much axle left for the dropout--is the wheel held on with just the quick release? You have bigger balls than I to take a grinder to the frame. Nice job all around. De gustibus non est disputandum. Cheers!

  • @MrHolmesyJnr Thank you sharing. Are there any type "o's" you can point out for me. Always trying to improve.

  • @ARuggieri1 IPA: pø:ʒo

  • i have a peugeot also which i am currently riding fixed gear, i want to switch out the crankset but i havent been able to figure out the bottom bracket,it is french threaded correct?and is the bb you the original stock one?

  • @cuakomaone I do not know if it is French Threaded. We used the stock crank, Sprocket and BB. Good Luck.

  • Mk thank you for that much appreciated info. Im lookin into buyin a beat old road bike and makin it a single speed :) ill keep you in mind if i have questions. Im in the orange county area btw

  • So the diff between a single speed and a fixed gear is when you stop peddling the gear still spins freely??

  • @420TheMega Yes. A single speed has a free wheel and it keeps spinning if you stop peddling and is much safer. Hipsters feel that a fixed gear is much cooler and much better but a fixed gear is much more dangerous and should only be used by experienced riders.

  • Damn you guys made that bike look dope..Damn if you lived in chicago i would pay you 300 just to customized mine, but you probably live in Florida or Cali by looking at the the tree's....But Good job...

  • @SupaSpade3 Dude, thanks. We live in So. Cal. Still riding the bike and still get positive comments.

  • @SupaSpade3 Thank you so much. I am glad that you enjoy it. I hope you get inspired to customize your bike.

  • @birthplaguedie88 were u born mentaly retarded or were u in a accident?

  • Are Peugeot bicycles popular in USA ? Cause in France they are pretty common and people tend to throw them away or sell them for cheap.

  • @sunndrac Peugeot used to be very popular in the late 70's and early 80's. You can still pick them up cheap. I just wanted to show that you can take a throw-away bike and make it useful and more importantly beautiful.

  • Hi, great job. Where did you find these kind of brakes?

  • you guys did a great job!

  • so you had threads to put your bottome brackets on? or no because i have this free spirit and it dies have threads at the bottom so it fucked me over

  • Awesome work! I've got a number of bikes - alu and carbon- and nothing rides quite like older steel bikes. For the money spent on a new road bike, I could've had a killer restored bike with quality components. I'm building up my own Peugeot Vitus now

  • @sopdadope I completely agree. If you can find a steel frame, grab it.

  • Awesome!!! Love this vid! Good job,I'm bout to take my black ass on eBay/craigslist****!

  • bud light lime ain't beer!

  • @jelle19821982 I love Bike Porn!!!!

  • Does the chain need oiling?

  • @rastablader Yes the chain needs routine oiling. I use White Lightning....it is wax based. The chain always stays nice and white with routing cleaning.

  • @ARuggieri1 Thanks.

  • damn, good job!

  • I love single-speed bikes. They beat fixies any day.

  • @clamzcoolio I agree, and much safer.

  • @clamzcoolio why?

  • @clamzcoolio shut up a single speed is a fixed gear... theres freewheel single speeds and fixed single speeds

  • this is some good shit.

  • @ayykos Thank you.

  • I dig it. Great work

  • Def awesome!

  • @rez7768 Thank you so much.

  • @rez7768 Thank you.

  • AND I might buy vilano bullhorns do i need a new stem to fit it in instead of my drops???????????

  • @persian209 I don't know if you will need a new stem. We tried to have fun with this and tried to use as much of the original parts as we could.

  • OK thnk you but if i get a rim with a fixed gear hub will i need a chain?????

  • Personally I think it is just a waste of time and impractible ot take off the cable guides and derailleur hanger. What happens if one day you want gears on it? ie you are screwed then...

  • @shorerydr10 Thank you for you input.

  • @shorerydr10

    Gears are for geezers!!

  • I WILL BE WORKIN ON A PEUGEOT TOO WATS THE CHEAPEST WAY I KAN CONVERT IT

  • @persian209 There are many ways to start. I suggest using as much of the original as you can. This will keep your cost down. I used parts from other bikes as well. I save everything and found uses for old bike parts. You don't need to powder coat. You can simply sand and spray paint and that too will keep your cost down.

  • How did you attach the break handle? I really am considering trying your method.

  • love the porn music at the end... turns me on.

  • Sir you have my total respect for this beautiful bike and how you restored it!

    195$ ? Unbeatable!

One day I wanna have a bike just as beautiful as yours!

  • You can't fail to be impressed by this. Such a simple pleasure in life. Creating something unique and special and completely practical from something which would otherwise end up in the parts bin yard. Good work.

  • @gunner46996

    Thank you.

  • 45$ ! I got an old 1980 aende Rd bike which cost £200 unfortunately it's hard to find 50cm/19inch frames so I had to save up more than I intended

  • I have a 70's Schwinn that I have converted to SS. I have had a problem with the back wheel slipping on me and causing the tire to run into the frame. Do I just need to tighten the heck out of this thing or is there another problem that Im not seeing?

  • @savageknives1

I have never had that problem. I guess just tighten them.

  • @savageknives1 I have been working on converting an old sears road bike to a SS and I had the same problem. Have you replaced the sprockets with new single speed sprockets or are you just using one speed of the original sprockets?

  • @TTAMSbass Its a new SS campignolo wheel and hub.

  • I will be working on almost the same frame soon. What did you use to fill in the any holes from removing the cable housing and lower bar shifters?

  • @JohnnyCarly

There were no holes. We just sanded.

  • @JohnnyCarly I would use plumbers epoxy. Then sand it smooth before you paint.

  • brakes?

  • @DerrickTheFleaBee

The brakes came off my Jamis TT bike. I upgraded to Ultegra and used the no name brakes for the project.

  • Great video until you ruined the "classic" old peugeot by powder coating over the beauty - breaks my heart!

  • @sethajase Dude the bike was salvaged from a trash can.....your heart has got to be a bit stronger than that. We made something beautiful out of trash.........No matter what we did you would have fond something to criticize.

  • You should put a flip flop hub on it so you can switch between fixed gear and freewheel

  • @brydon10 I agree. When we build our next one we will. We did not do this to be in the cool crowd, we just wanted to prove that it can be done, done well, done cheaply. The whole fixie trendy thing was purposefully avoided.

  • you are inspiring me to convert my '85 Bridgestone 300!

    nice job!

  • @stix4Him I can't wait to see what you build. Send pics!

  • @ARuggieri1 I'm prolly gonna start the tear down this week.

  • I wish I had seen this video before I bought my new bike ($700). What a great looking bike!

  • Beautiful bike!

  • @utubeworms Thank you. I had so much fun building it.

  • @utubeworms So gald you enjoy it. I had fun building it.

  • Ill send you some picks of my KHS flight 100 Single speed when itll be out of the bike shop.

  • The front fork should be painted white or go crazy and change it for a Composit one .

  • @simondr70 Yes I agree on the white fork. Our intention was to keep it original and cheap. I just don't understand 1000 + bike rebuilds. My next one will have a white fork. I did swap out the black seat for a white one and changed the pedals. Spent about 15.00 on some used track pedals and 10.00 for a used white seat. Still riding the bike and still love it.

  • @HalSka8 yes you can, measure the length of the crank arms,if they are long enough, you can just swap out the whole set up.if not, look where the crank ring and the axel for the crank arms meet up.you will see the male seat for the bottom bracket bearings. it is slotted so it can be removed. take this off and swap out crank rings.now the important part, when you get the rear cog,it has to match the crank ring(meaning made for bmx sized chains).try 16 or 17 tooth for the rear cog.

  • This is amazing.

  • how much do you think it would be if i got my road bike and just gave it a new paint job, a new seat, new wheels, and turned it into a single speed?

and i dont have anything to take off the paint thats alread on there, or paint to put on it... so if you could put that in the price too.

  • Love it! what gear ratio?

  • Beautiful bike!

How did you deal with taking up the chain slack?

  • i found a veryy old cinelli about 2 months agoo, took it home then realised i had no tools to really do anything substantial to it, sold it for 50$ to some indie hipster 2 weeks later see him riding around his 4000$ cinelli frame and with his cool little aerospokes and the only thing he used from the bike was the seat that was on the old cinelli....... i wondered why he bought the whole bike when he only used the seat. deep down inside i cried

  • That is beautiful. I've got a Gitan out in the gardening shed I keep threatening to rebuild, but haven't yet. Maybe I'll go look at it tomorrow. Thanks for showing it. Great job, everyone.

  • love it!

  • were did you get brakes for the bullhorns?

  • @dannycrtz13

    look for dia compe 188,

    very cheap!

  • @proxxyyy thanx

  • What an outstanding beauty made of an other man´s trash.

    Love the nice black color!

  • Those puegeaut bikes are vintage, they can be sold for almost 300 bucks. I bought a vintage pugeaut moped and it ran to almost $4000

  • Excellent video, lovely bike, neat, simple, not had money thrown at it pointlessly, very impressed. Well done.

  • great vid love it

  • LOL, I get bearings all over the floor too! Haha! I love building bikes.

  • great work why no fixed wheel tho ?

  • @1972postiephil Why fixed ?

  • @1972postiephil Much more expensive, for one thing

  • very nice. How did you get a straight chainline with the single speed freewheel sprocket?

spacers? new hub? or did it fit right on?

    -a_normann, Denmark

  • how much did the powdercoat cost in total? please reply

  • @spartan7777777

If he hasn't messaged you and your from england theres a place that does good for £25/30

    aandcshotblasting.co.uk

  • Nicely done! Love your enthusiasm

  • Very, very nice!!!

    Complimenti davvero!!!
