In case any of you were still wondering, the entire eidolon thing was a social experiment, done for a college class to see if a religious like following could be gained with a little trickery and philosophy throw in for good measure.

The Sodexo thing was made up so it could be ended easily, yet still leave a bit of doubt in people's minds.

So, basically, a reporter called you to follow up on this "Eidolon AI" story, and you got backed into a corner where you would have to admit that it was a hoax and it was all really you (which would ruin the joke when the article got printed). So you clammed up, and then quit while some might still buy the Eidolon AI business. Then you got in one little fight and your mom got scared and said you're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air.

The biggest (and maybe only relevant) mistake the creator made was to bring himself into it. It destroyed to whole illusion. With the original Eidolon clips he created an exciting channel that made people think. But having to be in 'the picture' too, made the whole thing fold. Of course it was a hoax, but it was intriguing and sparked a lot of interesting discussions.

i agree, i saw a few of these videos earlier, a while ago and people were guessing, debating and arguing (often intensely) about this AI. Even if this AI wasnt real, he could/should have continued his "persona". But so goes life on youtube. But yet to debate AI goes on. good show!!!!!

What is sad is how many people fell for this obvious hoax, I quickly reached the conclusion after viewing a few of the posts and feilding test questions, further I was able to predict what would happen if it was a hoax once the media got wind, well lets just say I am not in the least suprised that things have turned out like they have.

It is obviously a fake, I am not sure about other definitions but my definition of AI is the ability to reason in the abstract or conceptualy.

This is what I use as the bench mark of human conciousness, Edolon has shown that it is capable of doing this in some areas and then in others he demostrates a all to human bias, for that reason one can readily conclude that this is an example of a hoax. If AI is being used, I doubt that it is, it is not forming its own opinions they are being installed.
